Op, you don't explain why it is unfair. Girls wear earrings, guys don't.?
I know more than a few guys who wear earrings lol. If I have to explain why one group of people not being allowed to wear something another group are allowed to wear, then I legitimately question how you managed to turn on your computer or phone, rather how you get out of the house on your own. Maybe you do not? It would explain your ignorant to the fact that YES some males do In fact wear earrings!

King Salvia --- 4 years ago -

Thing is, there are dress codes in life everywhere we go. Recent prime example in the news is United Airlines and the dress code they require for their pass riders.

Yeah, I'm not exactly trying to change anything, just discuss. Also no you do not have a dress code everywhere you go unless its indecent or breaks some sort of laws United is a private company and has a right to restrict WHATEVER kind of clothes they want. This is however a Texas PUBLIC school, that ought not to have the power to control what people wear so long that it does not seriously take away from the learning of others. If a guy wearing an earring distracts you, as I said before, YOU HAVE AN ATTENTION PROBLEM MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS.

Not everyone.?

Everyone who's anyone I guess. I mean it's sad but it's the blunt truth.

Leila --- 4 years ago -

Well, Mark, why don't you and other like minded people make a presentation to the board or who ever is in charge of changing the rules?

I personally do not have a problem with earrings on males. But I suppose you could argue about every aspect of the dress code. Should there just not be one at all? Where do we draw the line? Not questioning your stance as much as I ma just wondering how it would effect the rest of the current dress code if one thing like earrings on males was changed.

Not KU --- 4 years ago -

Why should guys not wear earrings?
Because they are guys.

So it's earings that makes men and women different? Please.
I'm a grown man. I wear one.

Not every discussion to be about some grand societal strife, christ you can't even spell insightful, buy a damn dictionary

Texvette --- 4 years ago -

Just follow the rules !!!

King Salvia --- 4 years ago -

Just follow the rules !!!?
I personally do not care for earrings. This is a discussion regarding the rule itself. Very good response, way to provide a different point of view for us all to learn from

mutton --- 4 years ago -

I personally do not care one way or another regarding the earring. The real world work dress code is gonna blow some minds...differs company to company, even in the same type of discipline.

Texvette --- 4 years ago -

I am not interested in a debate. A governing body (School Board) made the rule. Appeal to them if you want to know their logic, or appeal for a change. I am sick and tired of folks not respecting authority and following the rules and/or laws.

MAzz --- 4 years ago -

Look your never going to win the debate in Humble ISD. The christian taliban pretty much controls what goes on in our schools.

Wow where to even begin with this one. First of all I simply wanted to have a discussion regarding my position on the current rule and the rule itself. Secondly respect is earned not given, the school board by doing this-in my eyes- has lost respect that their body demands because of its position. Thirdly regarding respecting authority, no where in my post do I display any disrespect for the board or individual members, I simply expressed my first amendment right to free speech by protest and complaint. Do I think this will incite change? No, because I'm not a moron. However, being a proponent of free speech I wanted to provoke conversation, a point I stress immensely because clearly you have missed it harder than Ivanka Trump misses Trump Tower, as seen by your low effort, post which added so little to this very nuanced topic of discussion of which you have made into a "RESPECT MAH ATHUORITY PUNK KID". It is almost sad. Finally you do not have to inform me of the idea of an appeal I assure you if I truly desired to change this ruling, I would not need your help. So finally, since KU censors any hard swearing, "authority" means nothing, you mindless sheep to rules and legislation created by people who whore themselves out to funding by corporations without your interest in mind. Civil disobedience of any kind should not scare you.

Behold the pale horse --- 4 years ago -

However, being a proponent of free speech

Perhaps you should go research the Constitutional meaning of "free speech."
