This isn't anything new. It's the way people ARE. Emotional thinking=things you are invested invest in and cling to. Logic=reasoning ability. These don't always go hand in hand. Example: people in abusive relationships, getting beat up and knocked around and they stay. When logic says " he's beating you up!!" Enter emotions that say..."but but you have kids, you have no job skills, you aren't good enough to survive alone."

Putting down logic and fact to cling to some emotional investment in something.

In the case of politics, we have camps. You have to stay in your camp or you'll be a traitor.. You have to stay in your camp even if your camp is bad or wrong. It's all about The Camp. And one of the biggest culprits to this is the net and social media. The proliferation of EVERYTHING, non stop unending, regurgitation of EVERYTHING on the news and online. We aren't made to live the way we're living. It doesn't work, but we're stuck bc social media is king now, the new standard we can't get away from so we just fight about everything and the more we do the more it morphs into just about everything else but the original topic. We are connected 24/7 but intimacy is lost and gone, and we are strangers now bc we never really knew each other to begin with, but we can fight. And then we will hold to our position bc it's all we have left.

It is true that we can no longer have a civil discussion about politics.

To a certain extent, it has always been that way. But, social media does seem to amplify political infighting.

How "factual" and so narrow minded

UnbeatableSoup --- 9 days ago -

A prime example of this "camp" mentality is the DNC.

A prime example of "kindergarten" mentality are trump supporters

LOL.

A prime example of "kindergarten" mentality are trump supporters?

An insult from fuzz81...so what's new?

fuzz81 --- 9 days ago -

That shouldn't be insulting, unless it hit home

I can, and do. But then facts can't be argued. Opinions are argued, though usually here, and on other online places it devolves into bickering. A prime example is the word ' trumpflake'. Originally derived from 'snowflake', a satire, it shows a lack of concept, originality (with a snowflake's melting being akin to the meltdown of the liberals), and lack of ingenuity.

No, it didn't "hit home". As I said it's just an insult which is your usual thing to do.

jackass --- 8 days ago -

Sometimes the truth can feel insulting...lol

So you think this isn't an insult. Quite frankly I feel the person hurling the insult is usually describing him/her self.

Just for you here is a definition of insult: "a disrespectful or scornfully abusive remark or action"
