Well, you know...I've considered that but many things he seems to do rather impulsively. Take for instance his relationship with Melania.
I believe he doesn't want to lose her and that he does want her approval but then he says things and most likely does things that don't exactly endear her to him.
And, I think it is too soon to tell how all the trade talks will turn out and I don't think he has a good grasp of all of the minutiae of the details of what will happen with each trade decision.
I think he does things in broad strokes and hopes the details pan out but as they say the devil is in the details.
I think his way of going about immigration reform was very short-sighted and incited needless resistance. He wanted to say things to keep his base happy...but he already won.
I think if he would have been cool and professional about it all there were enough people in favor of reform that he could have made more happen. I think sometimes other Republicans have to fight an uphill battle about the issues they care about because Trump is inciting and making it easy for people to laugh at him.
No..I don't think it has been proven yet that he has been successful...we are still waiting to see how the trade issues really pan out for our bottom line over time and we are waiting to see if there is any real permanent change to the immigration issue.
Trump acknowledged this job was harder than he thought it would be...well, it is a lot more complicated than he thought it would be that is for sure.
I really think he thought he could just sign things and courts and everyone else wouldn't interfere but that would be called a dictatorship most likely with the backing of a military force that could do that.
We will see...I do know his post-presidency book -- whenever that may be published-- will be on my most-want-to-read list :)
sorry so long...thanks for the question...I have been watching and wondering the same thing :)
Myra, thank you for contributing a well thought out response. We need more of those around here.
I'm sorry to see a snide response coming from another poster however. That's the kind of thing that's been ruining this site.?
Oh, that's sweet; thank you. This might sound strange but until this nasty, mean election cycle I really was complacently certain about my views. But as I have heard the anger from opposite sides of the fence I have really been forced to take a good look at why I believe what I believe.
I don't want to encourage the meanness but it sure shows how polar opposite on the issues we can be and how firm we can be about those issues.
I can't say I have changed my mind about my beliefs but I do know more about why I hold them and I do recognize more clearly that as certain of them as I am, the other side is just as certain they are right.
But, I guess that describes the problem in a nutshell...lol..
Dumpy Trumpy chastises the media because he is butt head. Pretty much if they just follow down his line of thinking, it's fake news, and they have it out for him. You can't get actual truth with someone in power like that. If he had his way, he would control the media. He is just a GOP socialist, so the right ignores it. There really isn't a lot difference between him and Putin, other than the land mass they control.
