Send me the lyrics, saggy. I'll write the music.

sdanielmcev --- 10 days ago -

I play bass (for fun) and can't read music.
I guess you can't be all bad if you're a fellow bass player.
Oh, and calling a drummer a musician is nonsensical.

The denial and self accountability is so low,

pots and Kettles.

KwMillennial --- 10 days ago -

And I will be writing songs Tuesday nite. I can't read music but I loves a good lyric

I honestly think you would be a good song writer.

Some of your lyrics come across as metal core: “Troll! Troll! Troll!!”

While the more pleasant side could probably put out some solid adult contemporary.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 10 days ago -

Song lyrics are more like poetry and I can see where writing them would not require a knowledge of music.

Writing the music for those lyrics seems to me would require a knowledge of music.

But here's a question. If I sit someone down at a piano who doesn't read music and tell them to play America the Beautiful, could they do it?

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 10 days ago -

Yep some can. Some also can play by ear or nothing more than memory.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 10 days ago -

Here's some lyrics for you music writers:

Leaves falling
Temperatures cooling..
I see where they land as they fall.
They aren't dead if they have a purpose
And they do, long after they were green, or beautiful, or firm,
Snakes hide, bugs run under, insect have a cover,

Leaves aren't just leaves,
Because their purpose changes
Like mine and yours
We walk a line of change
What you are today
You might not be tomorrow
But it all matters
It all matters
You matter
You will change
But you will still matter

sdanielmcev --- 10 days ago -

Needs a hook, saggy.

But here's a question. If I sit someone down at a piano who doesn't read music and tell them to play America the Beautiful, could they do it?

Depends mostly if they can play piano. I learned mostly by ear myself, but do have a working knowledge of music theory. It's good to know what key you're supposed to be in. Most of the actual playing is done by muscle memory.

That's beautiful, Sifi-

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 days ago -

sdaniel, it doesn't need a hook, it's a metaphor-

sdanielmcev --- 10 days ago -

Lyrics are not the same as conventional poetry. Lyrics need a hook. Though it could be a Tory song, but then the music would have the hook. And that's really hit or miss.

sdanielmcev --- 10 days ago -

Or a folk song. That's barf city.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 10 days ago -

How about this, since Kwm said we could head bang to "Troll"

Ah, you seemed so sweet
You had a way with words
I could see you as an icon, of something...
Free thinker?
Man of the world?
Nah, just a stinker
Bc you're mean
Bc you lie
Bc there's nothing worse than a fake

Troll! Troll! Troll!

I see why it's easier
to just be someone else.

You may have a place in the folk world saggy.
