I know, I know ... I haven't been on in a while. But yall are the best at giving different points of view. Question: Is it right for a surgeon to use a year old MRI scan to base a surgery on, and after surgery, when the patient has the same symptoms but worse refuse to do another MRI?

Catgirl Loves Animal_Control --- 15 years ago -

Hey Cheesecake!!! Long time no see. Bump

Catgirl Loves Animal_Control --- 15 years ago -

Why would he refuse to do a MRI, could it put you or your condition at greater risk???

OhCheesecake! --- 15 years ago -

Hi! How have you been? It "could" be a greater risk. I went in originally for a hernia. The MRI showed an umbilical hernia. I put it off, then in July went to a surgeon. He used the same MRI and did surgery. I should have questioned everything, but I didn't. I'm having the same symptoms but worse. I went back in, and he said nothing he could do unless I could make it pop out on command. Then he refused to do another MRI.

Jpgirl --- 15 years ago -

Not sure about the MRI question but I can tell you that once you have a hernia you have a greater risk of more hernias. When the abdominal wall muscles start to weaken it's hard to just repair it once. Like having a ton of little leaks in a dam. At least that's my understanding

Cheesecake, being in the medical field, my suggestion is to find another surgeon!!!! Is this surgeon in The Woodlands....pm me his name if you like, being that i worked at St Lukes in the woodlands...

OhCheesecake! --- 15 years ago -

Ibme - We were just talking about you the other night! I actually have an appointment with a new physician Thursday. The surgeon was from Conroe (Sadler Clinic). Needless to say my FORMER physician is also with Sadler in The Woodlands. He blew me off too. It is scary and my quality of life sucks. I'm just ready to figure out what it is so I can get it fixed, then say some choice words.

Syrah1214 --- 15 years ago -

They need an updated MRI if another surgery is pending.

OhCheesecake! --- 15 years ago -

Thanks Syrah! ;) Definetly, I'll update you Thursday, and let you know if I need anything.

aunt_dodo --- 15 years ago -

I would also agree with the fact that you should find a new surgeon! I also think another MRI should be done to see if and what the new problem is. Your body is telling you something is wrong...I hope you get it figured out quickly! Prayers!

OhCheesecake! --- 15 years ago -

Thank you! Now I'm going to open the locked bathroom door with a screwdriver, wipe cherry cobbler off my dog's nose, then make dinner. Will check in later.

Catgirl Loves Animal_Control --- 15 years ago -

So sorry you are going through this. Prayers

Justwatching72 --- 15 years ago -

Cheesey!! Make sure they did not use a Kugel Patch. Now I'm going to open the locked bathroom door with a screwdriver, wipe cherry cobbler off my dog's nose, then make dinner. Wow, the dog stole your pie, locked himself in the bathroom and is now demanding you make him dinner?!?!

*momof5* --- 15 years ago -

I'm glad you're seeing a new doctor OhCheesecake! I don't understand why a doctor wouldn't want to do a comparison scan before performing surgery. I'm not a doctor, but it just seems like common sense to make sure there haven't been any changes...a year is a long time in medical terms! I hope everything turns out ok! Please keep us updated. :)

FishinKim --- 15 years ago -

Make sure they did not use a Kugel Patch. JW why do you say this? My neighbor hadsurgery, think it was a hernia repair, and a week later her whole incision popped open with pus going everywhere. They think it was a reaction to the mesh.

Wow, the dog stole your pie, locked himself in the bathroom and is now demanding you make him dinner?!?! ROFL! Okay if this thing was recalled a long time ago, it is unlikely this jackass used it right!!!!???? And Mom of 5 - Have never heard of that, but believe me I'm going to figure this out! Let's just say I have an alien in my belly and it ain't no baby!

Going off air --- 15 years ago -
