What are the prices these days? Last fall I paid $30 at Walgreens. Are they running the same this year? And I need DD to get one. Last year I was told they couldn't give one to kids under 18 years of age unless they have a script from their doctor. Has anyone's insurance covered the flu shot?

Meme2my5 --- 4 years ago -

Someone on here said at H.E.B. you can get flu shot free if you have AETNA.

AFWife --- 4 years ago -

My insurance (TriCare) pays for it...we just have the $12 doc's copay.

Phileen --- 4 years ago -

county clinic in humble. Pobably cost $15. I have always gone there to get all my shots!

CB --- 4 years ago -

We paid $25 each at HEB. We have Aetna but we still paid full price. My boys also got one. They don't give them to children under the age of 7.

Wilstar77 --- 4 years ago -

I would get it if it was Free, but I would rather get the Flu and save the $25. Plus, you get to lose a few pounds and stay home.

voice of reason --- 4 years ago -

last year was $15 at Kroger. call and ask 281 361 7404

Mygirl01 --- 4 years ago -

we did it at heb this weekend, it was $25 per person but if you signed up for a pharmacy card $5, you save $5 on imunizations. So I bought the card and paid $45 for two flu shots.

I need to get a flu shot ASAP! Why such a rush? Are you afraid of catching the flu or just excited about getting the mercury and other toxins pushed into your body? I know everyone has their reasons but if there were ever a time not to get vaccinated, I'd say now is the time. There is way too much controversy and concerns over what's in these shots and what their effects are on our bodies.

NewNanna --- 4 years ago -

Randall's does it. $28 and you get a coupon for a discount off your groceries that week.

Squareduck --- 4 years ago -

Why such a rush? I along with the rest of my family have to get the flu shot because we have a newborn in the house. It's not normally something I would get. But we have to be very careful because of the baby. I have Atena. But HEB is still making you pay. I'd rather just go elsewhere to get the shot than go through my doctor. I'd have to pay the copayment and then the fee for the shots. So it's cheaper going elsewhere. Thanks for the info guys!

The flu shot does NOT have mercury toxins in it.

Squareduck --- 4 years ago -

The flu shot does NOT have mercury toxins in it. True True!! :)

Unichic™ --- 4 years ago -

The flu shot does NOT have mercury toxins in it. Where are you getting that from? Yes it does, but you can ask for one that does not for little ones. "But thimerosal (which is about half-mercury) will be found in most vials of the swine flu vaccine. However, it may be possible to find doses that are thimerosal-free if you ask for single-dose shots. According to the CDC."

Fallon --- 4 years ago -

I am not talking about swine flu vaccine. I would not get that one myself. Too many problems with the first one that came out in the 70's. And I think it is an actual live virus. Whereas the flu shot is not a live virus.

Unichic™ --- 4 years ago -

Which flu shot Fallon? You have to ask specifically for mercury-free and they are limited in swine and regular flu shots.

Momoftwo --- 4 years ago -

I used to wait in line and feel pressured to get the flu shot. But that has ALL changed now. No flu shots for anyone in my immediate family anymore. My mom still tries to pressure me by saying that I am around elderly people (family) and it would be to their benefit for me to get one. Nope, not gonna happen :) I will say this and take it for whatever it's worth...in the years past we have gotten the flu shot and so did our kids. Last year was the end of it (better education I guess). Since last year, we have started faithfully taking JuicePlus, acidolphilus and daily vitamins. I tend to think our immune systems are doing amazing things! We have been MUCH healthier this past year and hardly had any colds, etc. I have 2 small kids too that are exposed to a ton of stuff. I am not saying we are bullet proof, but I believe having a healthy immune system (one that's also FREE of immunizations like the flu shot) is definitely keeping us well. We are also very careful about germxing and washing hands often. Just because you get the flu shot doesn't protect your small baby.

BrookleighPhotography --- 4 years ago -

Just because you get the flu shot doesn't protect your small baby. your right it doesn't but it helps lesson the chance they catch the flu if the people in the house who can get the shot do :)

rEVOLution --- 4 years ago -

The flu shot does NOT have mercury toxins in it. True True!! :)  I don't know where you are getting your information but I hope that your decisions are not based on that information. There IS mercury in flu shots and many other vaccines.

Mygirl01 --- 4 years ago -

flu shot is not a live virus. But the flu mist does have the live virus in it, that is why we got the shot. Last year we all had the flu, thanks to my dd bringing it home from school and we didn't get the flu shot last year for some reason, first time we didn't get it and we all got the flu. So this year we got the shot, that way if we do get exposed maybe it will be a lot less tramatic for our family.

Squareduck --- 4 years ago -

your right it doesn't but it helps lesson the chance they catch the flu if the people in the house who can get the shot do :) Exactly KM! :) don't know where you are getting your information but I hope that your decisions are not based on that information. There IS mercury in flu shots and many other vaccines. I'm one person who doesn't buy into the whole vaccine drama. I agree with spacing things out, but I do believe it's my duty to vaccinate my children. JMO! As for the flu shot, I am getting it to protect my baby. It may or may not help, but I cannot willing leave it all up to fate. I am proactive about taking vitamins and washing hands etc. I gotta do what I gotta do. If I get slammed for it so be it.

Squareduck --- 4 years ago -

Last year we all had the flu, Last year I got the flu shot because I was preggo. In the previous years I did not get it and I was sick with the flu each year and I was down for the count for at least 10 days. And I got two different strains one year with in one month. It was not pretty. I did not get the flu last year. I like to think the shot helped. But then again I was doing it to protect my unborn child.

Dh just emailed me from work & said 1 of his co workers is coughing & his wife & kids have the flu & he has now been exposed to H1N1. If your family is sick why the heck are you at work spreading it? Fool!

Squareduck --- 4 years ago -

If your family is sick why the heck are you at work spreading it? Fool! In DD's two of her classmates have siblings who are sick with H1N1. And she said one of them wasn't at school today. So we are to assume that they have it now too.

Melanie --- 4 years ago -

So we are to assume that they have it now too. I would hate to assume but he/she probably has it too.

mamadog53 --- 4 years ago -

DH just got a call from his Dallas office saying that his boss has come down with the flu overnight. He was in an all day meeting with this guy yesterday. DH had his regular flu shot almost 3 weeks ago but we dont' know if this is regular seasonal flu or H1N1. I went into to panic cleaning mode and wiped down everything with anti-bacterial wipes. Thank goodness I'm leaving for the beach today and DH will be gone on another business trip before I get back. Tonight he's going out with co-workers to possibly spread the germs around. I can't believe I've succumbed to the flu panic. LOL

Wilstar77 --- 4 years ago -

My son's school announced they had 1 case of H1N1 yesterday. He'll be fine no matter what. The only thing I dread is the long sleepless nights if he gets the flu.

MomofTwins* --- 4 years ago -

mamadog53 - the shot your dh received was for the seasonal flu, the one for H1N1 is not out yet. My dh got the shot for the seasonal flu and still got H1N1 last week. It is not that bad if you do not have underlying medical conditions. I think the adults get it much worse than kids in general - at least what I've seen from my family and friends.
