Our schoolboard election is a few weeks away and apparently one citizen running in this race has absolutly no clue what he is doing or talking about. He is telling people he is going to fire this person and fire that person when he gets elected and he is going to do this and that and that the Superintendent took a pay raise when teachers got none. He is a joke and Mr. Kehl you cannot fire anyone and the head guy did not take a raise so please stop embarrasing yourself and your family with such tomfoolery. You will not get elected anyway and you cost the district 25,000
to run against Mrs. Shipley who has done wonderfull and probably has support of staff and fellow members. You have shown up at board meetings in a t-shirt and you cannot help this district in any way. I have to agree that Pat Kehl would not represent this community in the best manner. I don't know where these people get the idea that the school board is tasked with the " hire and fire" of school employees. This could not be farther from the truth. The job of any school board is to act as a check and balance for the district and to give the community a voice in the district. The Superintentent reports to the school board and must get their approval to do some, NOT ALL things. If you think you are going to get on the school board to " change the world", you are running with pipe dreams. We are here for the kids, not to try to bully your agenda. Pat cannot even run a football league of kids with class, more less, represent this district

There are a lot of problems in every TX school district right now and I know NCISD is included. I am leaving NCISD so I will not speak of the parties named in this race but I do have faith that an appropriate answer will be found with the elections. I would like to say that I am gratefull to the people of that area for the 6 years I have had there. I trulu have enjoyed the staff at Keefer-Crossing MS, the parents and especially the kids- those incredible wonderful and at times frustrating kids. I will miss you all.

Kikki Shipley is part of the "fabulous four" that cost NCISD close to $400,000 to get rid of a perfectly good superintendent. She is Jimmy V's puppet. I bet what is left of the fab four wish we still had that money. I will be voting FOR Pat Kehl as much as I will be voting AGAINST Shipley. If Verron had an opponent I would vote for them too.

sorry i am with david.. i have known the verron's since 1993 and worked for them for about 6 yrs.. the things they do for the community are fantastic and if i was still in the district i would vote for him.. i did when he first ran.. 

I too have seen the Verrons in action. We all have an opinion about the good people do 

God bless those four, my wife works in the district, no more wastefull spending, no more people getting reimbursed for in District lunch and travel expenses and no more peyton place, yes I guess you could say we are like a normal district now. We are actually getting bids on everything we do believe it or not. The transparency is at a all time high and it looks like we are finally out of that 12 years spin of smoke and mirrors. It always puzzled me how we could be award winning and our highschool was below state level as were middle school scores. Elementary scores were incredible but same students struggled at middle school. All the schools are too small and you have Crippen, Sorters Mill and Bens Branch about 2 miles apart and a former 9th grade campus being wasted. This causes route problems with buses. All part of that vision from Mr. Cowan. Build, build, build. This district has not missed a beat and has gotten better period , look at scores and look at spending. Recently awarded a very high ranking from state on using money wisely
and I believe 7th in the state. You never really hear of anything dishonest in district or people sleeping around at the admin building. Yes thank you fab four you spent about 150,000 and saved the district period , money well spent. And current board thanks for believing in Mr.Franklin and extending 3 more years , sky is the limit......

None of the above. I am not from New Caney. I have seen Verron scream obscenities at his own kid and kids he has coached. Not someone I want representing me on the school board. I have also heard but cannot prove he had the PHS baseball team burn their New Caney baseball hats at the high school. ( but the source was reliable). What kind of sportsmanship is that.

I do know Franklin is not as visible on campuses, I have heard he takes long weekends all the time to go visit his wife and kids in Tyler I believe. I have heard he is staying in a home owned by a school board member. Morale is at an all time low. You tell me, does it sound like the district

This will be my last post in rebuttle to porterswimmom, it would be up to D.A to determine any guilt the fact that something was even presented says alot. That is their job and I believe that was done by a private citizen and had nothing to do with board. And remember it can be very, very wrong and not be criminal. Im sure if the new superintendent was more visable then you would say why isnt he in the office. And
he paid multiple things back to district after he was caught, dont they always, lol. The rest was not talked about because of a gag order signed off by board to allow Cowan to leave and stop the legal bills from pilling up. It was mutual seperation which means someone knows they are in hot water and better get out before they find more , period or he would still be here , period. I know Kenn would like to visit more instead of working but he cant, he has district to run. And at every district when they change leadership you get this same exchange but Rick could still be here if he had not been so arrogant and believed this was his district and he was untouchable. No one is and tax payers always have the right for answers
I mean at one time the board president had open warrants for felony theft and hadnt paid his taxes in years and Cowan and several members of board still supported him, thats not normal. Mistakes yes everyone makes them but being an admitted felon and staying on board just wrong. And if changes were made sooner maybe my wife wouldnt have to worry about a job next year. The district paid over 150,000 to keep up with open record request from public once they figured out what was going on and had to hire two people to fill them.
No one at board meeting stirring things up anymore , no felons on board anymore,
no wastefull spending anymore , no fox news being thrown out of open meeting anymore, no more spending 1000s and 1000s on taking groups to olive garden and lots of other places to eat. No alcohol or debit card abuse anymore ( the district was actually paying late charges and over limit charges monthly believe it or not 

so yes we are much better now. If they paid 500,000 to get rid of him, money well spent and now we are focused on kids because our board believes every child can succeed.

Ok watchina ya this what I found on the houston chronicle. NC was 73 out of 82 in 5a schoolsnfor the inaugural chronicle cup 2009 scoring 4.5 pts. In 2010 NC was 55 out of 82 in 5a schools. They scored their points in boys bb, girls bb, boys soccer, boys track, and softball.
Bribing up the rear is exactly where they were. But what does that have to do with school board elections? I could care less about athletic standings. Where dies ncisd rank in educating our children?

Perhaps Mr. Kehl is the most qualified person to step up and run for this position. Hmmm?

You know, the way it usually works is....people don't like the way things are being done, so they bitch and moan and complain and criticize. Very few DO anything about it.

I would at least give Mr. Kehl credit for stepping up and attempting to become a doer rather than just another complainer - regardless of whether or not you agree with his policy positions. The voters will sort that out.

I am not going to hide myself behind a screen name, as I have nothing to hide. My name is Pat Kehl and I am running for New Caney ISD school board, position 1. I did not think I posed a threat to Mrs. Shipley re-election but evidently I am for someone like WATCHIN YA to be so trifling to start this bash against me. I thought it was pretty funny that it all started as soon as I put my election’s signs up. I am a pretty straight forward kind of guy, I stand for what I think is right and fair and what you see is what you get, so I thought WATCHIN YA comment about me showing up to the school board meeting in a t-shirt was petty and very shallow. I guess he does not have anything better than that to attack me with so he had to resort to such foolish and silly remark. Last as I checked, I did not think there was a dress code for attending a school board meeting as a concerned parent, perhaps as a trustee they have a dress code, but I am not there….YET!!!
I want to remark on the comments about why I am running and costing the district $$$$. Why do we have school board elections every year? Perhaps, than the school district should hold election every two years and the entire board of trustee should be up for re-election. If things are running as wonderfully as WATCHIN YA says, funds for this election should have been allocated at the beginning of NCIDS fiscal year. I do not have a personal agenda or any personal feeling toward anybody on the present board unlike WATCHIN YA wants everybody to believe. To his comment that I am “telling people that I am going to fire this person and fire that person when I get elected and that I am going to do this and that and that the Superintendent took a pay raise when teachers got none” I can only say his tomfoolery is out of this world. Like I told the reporter from the Observer, I have agreed and disagreed with decision made by the NCISD board but I have the experience (I am part of a board right now) and the knowledge to know that changes don’t happen overnight and that any decision made requires a majority vote before is implemented and that you will not make everybody happy 100% of the time. I have been toying with the idea of running for the school board for a few years now, but I think the turning point for my decision to run was based on coach Hensley’s displacement. That was definitely a decision I did not like, but as an outsider looking in I don’t know all that was taking in consideration before the decision was made, therefore I decided it was time for me to be on the inside, hence the reason for running in this election. In the string of comments above I believe somebody asked what qualifies me for this position. Let me start by saying that I do not own a business, I am in the same situation as the majority of the residents’ of this community, living from paycheck to paycheck, therefore my vote would be strictly based on benefitting the children , the teachers and the parents of New Caney. I know that WATCHNG YA stated that they are “getting bids on everything they do believe it or not” but it strikes me funny that the one that got the bid for the construction of Oakley Elem. is a NCISD trustee… isn’t that conflict of interest? In my work experience I have managed 200 + employees when working for the Astrodome for 16 years. I have managed all aspects of client relations, human resources and expenditures. In my current position I manage a diverse group of employees and clients much like our district. In my spare time I am the president a local youth football league. To ZINGER comment that I cannot run a football program with class I just want to say, at least I am not associated with a league that is constantly accused of allegedly mishandle funds. Mrs. Shipley has been part of this organization for a lot of years and if I am not mistaken she is presently the treasurer. This is the same organization that filed a fraudulent warranty deed stating that Oakley Fields, home of EMCYFL football, belonged to them. It took me and other fellows board members four years to fight this matter in court to finally get the property back. In conclusion, I did not mean to write such a long dissertation…but it is what it is. If I win this year that’s good and if I don’t that’s Ok too. I will take this as a learning experience and perhaps I will try again next year. I hope this will stop the mudslinging; we only have little over two weeks to the Election Day.
