Remember when Hillary Clinton said that the U.S. is to blame for much of Mexico violence: ClintonSource

Well she was once again projecting false truths to further an agenda to demonize American's rights to purchase guns.

Operation Fast and Furious:

The lethal fallout from a botched operation by the US Department of Justice which allowed almost 2,000 illegally purchased firearms to be transported from the streets of Arizona to drug gangs in Mexico has been laid bare in a scathing Congressional report, which concludes that it resulted in countless deaths.

A mixture of arrogance, over-confidence, and staggering ineptitude by the Department's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives [ATF] was outlined in a 51-page investigation by two Republican members of a House panel charged with getting to the bottom of what went wrong during a two-year operation called "Fast and Furious".

It tells how, between 2009 and this year, the ATF instructed agents to turn a blind eye to hundreds of AK-47 assault rifles, sniper rifles, and revolvers purchased from gunshops in Phoenix and en route to Mexico. They hoped to eventually recover them from crime scenes and build a complex conspiracy case that might take down the leaders of a major drug cartel.

In the event, the operation resulted in the arrest of a handful of small-time crooks. But it exacerbated an already-huge spike in violence on both sides of the border. Two of the guns allowed to "walk" into the hands of criminals were used in a shoot-out that killed a US border patrol agent, Brian Terry.

The report describes his death as "a preventable tragedy", detailing how many of the ATF agents involved in Fast and Furious began to object to what they saw as the "reckless" nature of the operation, which conflicted with all known protocol and may turn out to have been illegal. But when they raised their concerns, they faced "punishment and retaliation" from their superiors.

It also highlights the symbiotic nature of the deadly drug trade between the US and Mexico, which has resulted in approximately 38,000 deaths since 2007. Cartels make their money smuggling cocaine and cannabis north from Mexico, and simultaneously equip their private armies with assault weapons purchased thanks to America's notoriously relaxed gun laws.

Fast and Furious revolved around so-called "straw" purchases of firearms, in which a buyer purchase military-grade hardware from a gun-store with the intention of illegally passing it to a criminal third party. ATF agents who track suspected straw purchases typically run intensive surveillance operations allowing them to arrest suspects and recover the guns. During the Fast and Furious operation they were instructed to simply let the weapons disappear.

A record was kept of their serial numbers. The idea was that this would later allow agents to link individual weapons to particular crime scenes. Somehow, this was supposed to help the ATF build up a nuanced picture of the complex structure of a major drug cartel, which would in turn lead to high-level arrests. But it wasn't to be.

"Both line agents and gun dealers who co-operated with the ATF repeatedly expressed concerns", about the operation, the report says. "But ATF supervisors did not heed those warnings. Instead, they told agents to follow orders because this was sanctioned from above."

I think every single American should DEMAND a public apology and explanation from Hillary Clinton. She flat out lied to the world and if she didn't know better then that's even more reason for a public apology.

This was also a really poor attempt to scare those who don't know into believing that anyone can just walk into a gun store and purchase military -grade hardware. Anything that Mexican drug cartels use in their "war on drugs" can be purchased in Mexico or any other country.

Obama Administration Fires ATF Whistleblower

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is being accused of retaliating against an agent who helped publicize the agency’s role in allowing thousands of guns to cross the U.S. border and fall into the hands of Mexican drug gangs.

The agent, Vince Cefalu, who has spoken out about the ATF's so-called "Project Gunrunner" scandal, says he was served with termination papers just last week, and he calls the move politically motivated.

“Aside from Jay Dobyns, I don't know of anyone that's been more vocal about ATF mismanagement than me,” said Cefalu, a senior special agent based in Dublin, Calif. “That's why this is happening.” Dobyns, an ATF special agent based in Tucson, has appeared several times on Fox News to discuss the scandal.

Cefalu first told FoxNews.com about the ATF’s embattled anti-gun smuggling operation in December, before the first reports on the story appeared in February. “Simply put, we knowingly let hundreds of guns and dozens of identified bad guys go across the border,” Cefalu said at the time.

Since then, Cefalu’s claims have been vindicated, as a number of agents with first-hand knowledge of the case came forward. The scandal over Project Gunrunner led to congressional hearings, a presidential reprimand – Obama called the operation “a serious mistake” – and speculation that ATF chief Ken Melson will resign.

Yet last week, Cefalu, who has worked for the agency for 24 years, was forced to turn in his gun and badge. He can appeal but will be on “paid administrative leave” during the process.

White House Won’t Say If Obama Wants ATF Director to Resign (REALLY, what the heck is going on in the country?)
Monday, June 27, 2011
By Fred Lucas

ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson

(CNSNews.com) - White House Press Secretary Jay Carney would not say today whether President Barack Obama wants Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Acting Director Kenneth Melson to resign because of a long-running ATF operation that purposefully allowed known and suspected smugglers to purchase weapons at licensed gun dealers in the United States and then allowed the smugglers to flee with the weapons--two of which ended up at the scene of the murder of a Border Patrol agent.

At Monday’s press briefing, CNSNews.com asked Carney: “There have been some recent reports that acting ATF Director Melson is resisting pressure about resigning. Does the president believe he should resign?”

Carney answered: “I would refer questions about that to the Department of Justice.”

CNSNews.com followed up: “The president doesn’t have a position on his resignation?”

But they have no problem firing the whistle blower!!

This is like watching a really bad movie isn't it? I mean if it were a movie we'd all be ticked off at how stupid it is and how backwards it all is.

wayward1 --- 2 years ago -

This is kind of weird. CNN did a big story on this guy last year:

Vince Cefalu

Apparently, he complained about the ATF in 2005 and got punished. Which means taking him off the street and having him manage office equipment in the basement. Vince said he's been doing that since 2005. How did he, after being off the streets for 6 years, blow the whistle on the ATF's bungling of the Mexigan arms mission? Something isn't adding up.

Regardless of who exposed it, it's happening and everyone knows it now. If he indeed is out of the loop then he's the perfect fall guy even though all the public wants to see is someone get fired over this and this guy might have the least amount to lose. Things never add up in these stories because of Compartmentalization. You could have ten guys working for the same agency all working different legs of the same project and not even know it.

wayward1 --- 2 years ago -

I just read that the whistle blower, who is annonymous, was a high-level agent working in Mexico. That man or women is a hero. Vince Cefalu is not that agent. We don't know why Vince was fired, but it was not for exposing the Mexico gun walking program. CNS didn't have the real hero to interview, so they found someone else and spun it just enough to make a casual reader think Vince was the whistle blower. Great reporting CNS. A tip of my hat.

We are fighting wars in the middle east supposedly because of evil and horrible things that are being done to people in those nations. Meanwhile on our southern border just a few hundred miles from the Texas border people are being mutalated, dismembered, and killed in horrible deaths, verbally threatening US police in Arizona with Death warrants, threatening to behead members of our DEA, kidnapping American citizens for ransom, and have actually beheaded Mexican officials. Our own DEA has been busted selling guns to the cartels so they obviously know who they are and where they are. And our US banks like Wells Fargo have been busted and fined (ooh a fine) for laundering drug money for the Mexican cartels.

And yet we are treated like terrorists in our own country (for our "protection") from evil doers, while our borders with the above mentioned known terrorists remains WIDE OPEN.

Folks, we need to stop arguing about Right and left, American Idol, Dancing with the stars or Obama on vacation and start telling everyone we know about the fraudulent scam that's being played out on Americans right now. Our local police forces have recently teamed up with federal intel agencies and are working together to increase security, surveillance, and intel gathering on Americans while the TSA conditions us all to accept the physical and demeaning body scans and searches all supposedly to "protect us" when it's all an absolute hoax.

The TSA has NEVER thwarted an attack or even searched up the dress of a "Muslim" that's been reported. I can't find one single instance where the TSA lifted the dress of any middle eastern person dressed in the long robes that they wear. The only reports I EVER have seen were mostly white Americans, mostly women, some men, and children. We have to question this pattern because what we allow now, is what we leave our children to live with.

It is sad that our govt is not taking this seriously. This is a problem that is growing quickly. They think by ignoring it, it will just go away. It won't. We will be in a drug war just like Mexico in a few years if we continue to do nothing about our borders.

But but Meme, look at how many of them will vote democratic and isn't that what they want?

It is hard for me to believe that anyone would be ok with what is happening from loose borders. No matter what side you are on, no one could believe that Napalitono (sp) is doing a good job as Homeland Security leader. She is doing a terrible job. I feel sorry for the citizens of AZ, they have it worse than us. I did see that we were warned today not to go to Laredo. Texas because the cartels are warning they will kill any and all Americans. This is a threat on OUR side of the border. Obama better do something about it or we will be paying a high price for our safety.

Obama will go talk to them and find a way to appease them, you know, offer them more money to keep this up to help him get re elected.

They are taking it very seriously. They are scrambling around like roaches when the light comes on to cover their butts. They are working directly with the Mexican Government and the Cartels to keep this thing running. Could you all imagine what it would do to the prison industry in America (which incarcerates more prisoners than all nations combined)if there were no war on drugs and that if there were no war on drugs there would be little if any drug problems. Just like how many people died needlessly during prohibition in the war to keep alcohol illegal. Or the fact that opiates used to be sold at the corner drug store. It's all about the fake fiat dollar and keeping the system flowing without us ever figuring it out. But we are figuring out. That's why everything seems to be escalating so quickly. That's why they are conditioning us at airports and road side check points to submit to our public servants. That's why they call our government and police "Authorities" instead of what they are "Public Servants". That's why our local police forces are beginning to use military drones and other military tools to monitor us all.

Obama hasn't gotten out of campaign mode yet. 4 years of him running for election and all the tax payer money wasted. What a crock?

One of his campaign ads was recently shot in the White House which is a huge campaign no no. But of course all he got was a shaking finger at him.

We now live by Obama rules and regulations. Nothing else matters, watch what happens when he loses this coming election. We will need the national guard to get him out of office.

July 3, 2011, 2:25 p.m.
The state of Texas is warning Americans to avoid travel to the Mexican border town of Nuevo Laredo this holiday weekend because of an anticipated surge in drug cartel violence aimed at Americans.

In a news release Saturday, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Webb County Sheriff's Office said their sources indicated that the Zetas drug cartel was "planning to target U.S. citizens who travel to Nuevo Laredo this weekend."

http://www.latimes.com/travel/deals/la-trb-nuevo-laredo-warning-20110703,0,6283506.story

And yet our wars of choice are all surrounding the middle east. Hmmmm!

Along with these latest threats to "you and I" there have been rumors out of Mexico that cartels have threatened to Behead members of the CIA and DEA. And yet NOTHING is said or done to counter their threats. And again it's you and I who are tracked, traced, survieled, groped, radiated, and harassed for our own safety.

If the US won't demand accountability for these US terrorists then at least Mexico will give it a go.

Mexican Lawmakers: U.S. Officials Who Approved Gun-Running Should Be Tried in Mexico
Wednesday, July 06, 2011
By Susan Jones

From Fox News: Mexican lawmakers say they'll press for the extradition and prosecution in Mexico of American officials who authorized and ran "Operation Fast and Furious," a botched ATF investigation intended to track guns sold in the U.S. to Mexican drug cartels.

"I obviously feel violated. I feel my country's sovereignty was violated," Mexico Sen. Rene Arce Islas told Fox News. "They should be tried in the United States, and the Mexican government should also demand that they also be tried in Mexico since the incidents took place here. There should be trials in both places." Arce is chairman of Mexico's Commission for National Security, a congressional panel similar to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.

Another Mexican senator said the operation "brought very high risk to human lives." Sen. Santiago Creel, a former Interior Minister and a likely presidential nominee next year, said a resignation would not be a satisfactory end to the probe: What happens in Mexico, he said, "must be sanctioned by Mexican laws and under our sovereignty."

I'm all for sending guns to Mexico... of course they should be held by Marines and U.S. Special Forces in a coordinated assault on these territorial war lords. Unfortunately that would only treat the symptom, and not the disease of poor U.S. policy. and it does little to improve the Mexican Economy.

rEVOLution --- 2 years ago -

Let's not so easily dismiss the CIA and DEA involvement in what's going on in Mexico. If I were Mexico I'd have a huge problem with their involvement in the whole drug/gun running running scam. But then again the Mexican government gets enough cash kickbacks to keep their mouths shut.

In response to more than a year of Justice Department stonewalling Congress and the American people on Operation Fast and Furious, the U.S. House of Representatives today passed by voice vote an amendment cutting Justice Department salaries until they fully answer questions on the failed gunwalking program. Oversight Committee member Rep. Trey Gowdy (SC-4) sponsored the amendment, which cuts $1,000,000 from the Justice Department's General Administration fund and is part of the FY 2013 DoJ Appropriation.

5-8-12: US House of Representatives

Wait a minute, "Cutting Salaries"? Are you kidding me? This nation is so far out of whack it sadly will take a disaster of epic proportions to ever wake the people of this nation up.
