It is for this Friday night. My husband and I are going to Kirk Cameron and Warren Barfield Love Worth Fighting For. It will be 4 maybe 5 hours. The event starts at 7pm, however I am not real sure how long it will take us to get there.
With a 9 year old there, it's not going to be as much work as if they were both still small. I think you get away with $8/hour. But know that a lot of people pay $10, and you will be competing with them for the good babysitters!
How much would you charge to drive over to someone's house and watch their kids for 2-3 hours on a Friday or Saturday night when you could be out with friends instead?
I never thought of it that way when I baby sat as a kid. I still think it's too much money. I know that things have changed a lot since then. For me it was an honor to be working when I was a teen, not a burden.
We pay $10, usually. It's expensive, and we don't go out much because of it. BUT, a good babysitter that we trust is worth her weight in gold (luckily, ours only weighs about 98 lbs.) If we could AFFORD to pay her in gold, we would. She keeps our kids safe, clean, fed, and entertained. She prays with them when she puts them to bed. We ask our kids LOTS of questions when we get back, and they have only good things to say. She plays with them, she's kind to them, and we trust her.
I pay $5 an hour for 1 kid and $7 and hour for 2. I just dont understand these kids wanting $10 an hour when my son goes to bed 2 hours after they get there and they are just watching TV. I always tell my sitters what I pay and let them make up their minds if they want to work for that. They are not paying taxes, they are not working very hard and they are not driving to and from my house. The girls that live across the street that always did it for me were happy to make the extra cash. They were only 15 so they couldnt get a job anywhere else. Now they both work part time jobs and complain that they made more when they were babysitting because of taxes. Welcome to the real world LOL.
Now, if you want to clean my house after my son goes to bed I will be happy to pay $8- $10 an hour. Fold laundry, do dishes, clean the bath room. Something more than watching TV.
Where do yall find your baby sitters? We will be needing one next weekend.
I do tons of babysitting. If you ever need it i taught in daycares for 7 years so i have done childcare besides my kids for a long time. But if you even need someone and want to look around... At the daycares parents used to call all the time for a teacher that would do babysitting nights and weekends. So that is where i go when I need someone.
