I was at a children's birthday party at River Terrace Park yesterday afternoon. While there, a sad little black pup came wandering up. She looked only about a year old but had at some point had puppies. (The kids all said her belly looked like a cow udder.) In the four hours we were there I saw no puppies. She appeared to live at the park. :(

I keep dog food in my car & put a bunch out with some fresh water which she cautiously accepted. She let me pet her and wagged her tail. Very docile and sweet.

Her poor little body was covered in scrapes and scratches. I have never been to Channelview before but this park (although absolutely beautiful) did not seem to be very safe. Especially for this little pup. There were a couple people with dogs there on leashes. This little pup would go lay in the grass by them, tried to play with a poodle mix, and allowed children freely to run up and pet on her.

I took in two pit mixes several years ago that become aggressive and dangerous only around other dogs. I have tried unsuccessfully to foster found dogs a couple times in the past and my husband has asked that I not bring home any needy dogs anymore due to our 2 becoming aggressive (I have a young child too.) :( So sadly I had to leave this poor soul behind at River Terrace Park yesterday.

Today I am sad thinking the pup is still there hoping someone kind will come and care for her.I know all of my rescue friends are likely full and that maybe no one will be able to offer more than a prayer for this pup but I just feel like I had to at least attempt to network this pup.

I wrote a message to Corridor Rescue to see if they think I should go try & pick her up and take her to a shelter. I'm worried it would be a guaranteed death sentence for her as most no kill shelters are closed for intake right now. :(

So if anyone has any suggestions on helping this pup please chime in. If not, please say a prayer for this little girl.

I took pictures of the pup too. Maybe when I get on my laptop I will try and figure out how to post them.
