Can you let me know what sizes you are accepting and what season of clothes?

a4663515uu --- 11 years ago -

Thank you for asking. We accept gently used newborn to size 16 children's clothing. At our March sale we will be accepting both Fall/Winter Spring/Summer items.

Here is a quick overview of the consigning process with Just Between Friends.
1. Create a JBF Account to get a Consignor Number. (jbfsale.com)
2. Register with a local sales event where you’d like to sell your items.
3. Prepare your merchandise, tag it and then bring it to the sale.
4. After the sale, you pick up any unsold items you do not wish to donate.
5. About 2 weeks later, you receive your consignor check in the mail!

Here’s more detailed information on the process for you:

Anyone with children’s and maternity items that are new or gently-used may register to sell as a JBF consignor.

Many who start out as shoppers with JBF become consignors. Why? Because you can sell items you no longer need and then shop the sale for the items you do need! Plus, it lets you recoup some of the investment made purchasing your items.

Once you register with JBF, you will receive your Universal Consignor Number which can be used to sell items at any JBF sales event. You will need to register for each sale with which you would like to consign.

Be sure to read through all email communications and your local JBF event website which is full of tips, dates/times, ideas and other important information about the sale. (NOTE: Typically, your local JBF hosts a Spring/Summer sale and a Fall/Winter sale each year. Some host a toy sale once a year, too).

After receiving your JBF Consignor number, you can log into your My JBF Profile to access the FREE tagging site. There you can create and print out your sales tags. You are then on your way! We have a Pricing Guide to help you determine the best price for your items. Then it’s time to get busy preparing your items for the sale!

Prior to each sale, you will drop-off of your items during the posted “DROP OFF” time. We encourage you to separate all clothing by gender and size before you arrive as this makes drop-off easier…and faster!

When you get to drop off, check in with the event coordinator. You will receive a consignor presale pass and, if applicable, an earlier Team Member presale pass. Next, you will bring your items to the “Inspection Area.” While your clothing is being inspected, you can start placing all other items on the sales floor.

After inspection, you will hang your approved garments on the appropriate racks, typically by gender and size, before you leave.

You are now done with check in!

You will want to use your presale pass to shop the bargains yourself.

Once the sale concludes, items will be sorted for pick up. You can choose to donate unsold items to a local JBF charity or you can pick up unsold items. Then, about two weeks later, you will get your check (less a consignor fee which varies by sale)!

Sorry for all the questions. Do you take toys.

a4663515uu --- 11 years ago -

Yes, toys must have all parts and have batteries if required. Toys sell great. In fact, this is a great time to have your kids clean out their toys. You can motivate them by giving them a portion of your consignment check to perhaps purchase a toy they did not get for Christmas. Our on-line tagging system is easy enough for a child as young as 6 to input the required information. Once your items are tagged you can take them to any Just Between Friends sale in the Houston area. Keep in mind that our sales are multi-day so your items get maximum exposure. Please feel free to ask any questions. My last response to you did not indicate that besides clothing, we take all items child related to include movies (G & PG), music cds, sports equipment, room decor, etc.

What is the percentage a consignor receives? Can you get a higher percentage by volunteering?

a4663515uu --- 11 years ago -

Thank you for asking. A consignor who helps a minimum of 4 hours receives 70% and gets to shop early. If you do not help, your percentage is 60%. Checks are mailed within 2 weeks.

I am pleased to announce that we have partnered with Family Time Crisis Center as our charity. Anyone who consigns and wishes to donate their items at the end of the sale will receive a donation slip from Family Time. You can print an unsold item list from our tagging system -- attach it to your donation slip and you are set to go with your 2014 taxes. You have accomplished 3 things -- cleaned out your children's clothes/toys/sports equipment; made some cash; and helped a local charity.

If you don't know where to start and would benefit from a tagging class, please personal message me. If we have enough response we will rent a venue and have consignors bring a few items to tag/price to get you started. Sale is less than 30 days away.

We have at least 10 first time moms signed up for our sale. They will be shopping our venue for strollers, pack n plays, high chairs, car seats, etc. Start cleaning your items, checking the recall list on our website and start tagging.

Help families starting out that perhaps cannot afford to shop new.

a4663515uu --- 11 years ago -

Scared to sell something on Craigslist or too much hassle to put on Ebay? We are offering all of our Consignors 75% back on any item priced at $200 or more!

However please note we cannot accept cribs manufactured prior to July 23, 2010. This is not a JBF rule it is a federal law. Cribs manufactured between July 23, 2010 and June 28, 2011 can only be sold or donated if a certificate of compliance, from the manufacturer, is provided. Cribs manufactured after June 28, 2011 may be sold or donated.

I have had a number of people pm me with clothing questions. Actually boys clothes sell better than girls, larger sizes sell better than infant clothing, spring clothing will perhaps sell better than fall clothing at this sale. I have also heard that larger boys sizes (i.e. 8-14) will sell faster than girls in that same size range. I understand this because my boy child could care less where his clothes come from. All he wears these days is boys basketball shorts and shirts. He has no idea where I purchase them. Keep tagging -- look forward to seeing you at the sale.

Can you explain the tagging and inspection process briefly? For example, what info is required on tags, what are you looking for in the inspection process (what would be rejected), etc.?

a4663515uu --- 11 years ago -

We are looking for new or gently used clothing (i.e. no stains, tears, buttons missing, etc.) Toys must work and have batteries. On our website http://kingwood.jbfsale.com -- we actually have tagging videos. Very simple to tag. You input the category (i.e. toy, room decor, clothing) you input the size, you type a description of the item, you price your item, you then indicate whether you want the item to go half price on Saturday, lastly you indicate whether you want the item donated at the end of the sale or you want to pickup. You then print the tags on White card stock (available at Walmart) and attach the tag to your item. We have a bar code scanner. By the close of the first day you know which of your items sold and how much you can expect your check to be. You can do this at the end of each sale day.

At the bottom of our website you will find:

Sell Tab with the following list:

Sign up to Sell
How it Works
Pricing Guidelines
Merchandise Prep
"How to" Videos
Safety & Recall Info
Consignor FAQs

The pricing guidelines are very helpful as to what to price your items at. Specific brands are listed with the range of price given the condition of your item.

Just Between Friends will be holding a tagging class May 10 at the Kingwood Library. If you are unfamiliar with Just Between Friends, please visit our website at jbfsale.com.

The class will take place at 12:30 p.m. at the Kingwood Library, Barbara Williamson Children Activity Room. We suggest you bring one clothing item and two other child related items (i.e. books/movies/sports equipment/room decor/gently used shoes, etc.)

If you are new to JBF - welcome. If you are already familiar with our sale, please tell a friend or bring a friend. The more the merrier!!!!

Please RSVP to lauriemorse@jbfsale.com. Thank you!!!
