Hello,
We live in Kingwood and are putting in a pool soon. Since we are regulated by the City of Houston, I was wondering what the darkest color we could have on our pool? The builder is saying "blue granite" but others have told me theirs is darker, so if you have something darker than this, can you tell me the color (if your area is also regulated by the city of Houston)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

We talked to a pool builder and he said the darker colors are not allowed because a kid drowned like 15 years ago and they couldn't see his body at the bottom. He told me they will do a dark color but I would have to sign something saying he isn't responsible if the city finds out. Do you want a dark color. It might make your pool get really hot. We are getting a pool done too. There is so many choices. I chose smokey gray. Its a blue gray color.

I do like the darker colors. I was hoping to be able to LEGALLY get the prism blue. I didn't think about it making the pool dark though, so maybe I will go lighter. Thanks for bringing that up!

We had friends who did a dark color- it almost looked like dark river rock- it was a dark grey. I didn't like it. You could see the bottum but it just looked like a dirty pool to me. Heat would be a problem- we have a light color and our pool was 96 over the weekend

Prism blue is pretty. Your pool builder will
Tell you which colors you are allowed to get and which cost extra.

When we bought our house, the realtor told us to stay away from dark pools because you could not see snakes and dead animals and such in them.

If the water is clear and clean, you can see everything on the bottom of a dark pool. We were told by our pool builder that it makes the pool appear deeper than it really is and might cause people to think they could dive in, causing a possible injury. I think it would make the water get uncomfortably warm by August when even the lightest colored pools are too warm.

I would be afraid of a dark pool because I would be worried I couldn't see snakes. Our house backs to the woods.

lightest colored pools are too warm.

Current water temp in my white pool is about 94 deg. Bathwater +!!!
