Is there a public garbage dump in or around Kingwood that I can bring miscellaneous junk and garbage to? I've done a lot of renovating lately and need to get rid of a lot of stuff.

Look at the city of Houston website. You will see listings and locations. Expect to pay a dump fee. 

I'm in the same boat. I remodeled a bathroom and need to dispose of a toilet.

While I recognize that toilets can be yard art, I'd rather just get rid of it. 

There is no dump fee. You just need to bring your electric or water bill. You are allowed up to 4 visits per bill. I think that is what they told me. I remodeled a house last year and ripped up the floors and disposed of the carpet, pergo and tile myself. Saved quite a bit of $$. There is a dump off beltway 8 East. Don't expect any help from their staff. You are on your own for unloading.

Good to know. I wish people would use the dump and not the roadways. 

I believe it was a city of Houston thing. They have about 6 landfills. I think the closest one to us was the one off beltway 8. 

The first thing would be to try and rehome some things. I saw someone with a king mattress out front of their house today with a Free sign on it. It looked clean and I thought what a great thing to do. Where some might not think it, to someone without a bed, a gift. 

If you have to get a lot of stuff out of your house, get a bags yet from Waste Management. That is the best thing ever invented - fill it up and call WM to schedule a pick up from your curb!
