We recently contacted four foundation repair companies.

Their estimates for repair varied up to 250% depending on the company.

Only one company suggested that we hire a structural engineer to determine the actual issue BEFORE we hire a company to repair it.

If you are experiencing any issues that make you think the foundation needs repair, I recommend that you first of all get a structrual engineer to confirm that you need anything repaired or not.

He was the ONLY one that suggested we have an engineer do an analysis of the home before hiring a repair company. 

I'd be willing to bet that every foundation in our area has problems - related to the recent drought. I know I have issues but trying to give the rain a chance to soak in to see if it helps any. I doubt if will and may be faced with foundation repairs. 

I heard the same thing not to long ago. If I ever have foundation problem, I will be calling an engineer first. You had four companies come out, did they all recommend the same repair. I always wonder if it is apples to apples. I do know that it is important to water around your house when there is drought conditions.
