Pay no taxes on Emergency preparation supplies. Nows the time to get that generator you've been putting off as well as: batteries, fuel containers and flashlights priced at less than $75; ? hurricane shutters and emergency ladders priced at less than $300; and ? portable generators priced at less than $3,000.
If you can afford it, get a whole house generator- when we had that hurricane, and we lost power for 10-14 days, there was no gas to be found- a full house generator runs off your gas hook up in your house-
May I ask what the cost of your natural gas bill was after running for 10-14 days? I am considering whole-house but fear the price of natural gas during any disaster would make it unfeasible. Gas was available. But the key is to be prepared before the storm. I am still using up the 35 gallons of gas I stocked for Harvey but didn't use.
