Bay Area Houston Welcome to the Bay Area Houston Blog designed for the Clear Lake and surrounding area of Houston Texas. Home of NASA Johnson Space Center. Saturday, May 20, 2006 Love at first Right? For some reason I remembered something about the judge of the 245th Judicial District Court (Family Court). This is the court that hears cases about divorces and various reasons for divorce such as (to be blunt) messing around while maried, or with another married person. The judge in this court is Annette Galik (Republican), who according to the Houston Press in 1998, In her four years as a family court judge in Harris County, 48-year-old Republican Annette Galik has presided over a stream of divorce and child-custody cases in which spouses have alleged infidelity and adultery by their partners as reasons to receive favorable cash and property settlements as well as control of their offspring. Now, as she is running for re-election against Democratic family law attorney Bill Connolly, anonymous sources have circulated videotapes and tapes of phone messages and phone conversations documenting Galik's continuing, not-so-subtle affair with 54-year-old Dr. Mohammad Athari, a married family man. Now think about this. Who else would be more qualifed to hear testimony about infidelity and messing around with married folk, than a judge who is infidelifying and messing around with married folk? Or who else would be more qualified to hear testimony about a murder case, than a judge who committed murder? Look folks, good judges with experience is hard to find. And it seems Annette Galik has LOTS of experience. posted by John Coby at 8:43 PM 2 Comments: Switchbacktx said... "Who else would be more qualifed to hear testimony about infidelity and messing around with married folk, than a judge who is infidelifying and messing around with married folk?" I can't imagine anyone who would be more tempted.... 7:13 AM Anonymous said... Good Lord! Annett Galik is a total nightmare! It's election time again (2006) and it's time to REALLY re-think who should be the "Family" Law judge of the 245th Judicial District court. For the past eight years Republican Annette Galik has presided over this court although she has cinsistently been voted worse judge by local lawyers. For one they know what they are talking about. She has been publically exposed for having an affair with a prominent married local doctor and has had a restraining order issued against her for spending her nights at a local Rover Oaks resident's home in the presence of his (very) minor child. The same type of minor child she is SUPPOSED to protect from this kind of behavioor in her family law court. She takes children away from parents for this type of behavior! I had the great misfortune of having to try a custody case in her court. Though the jury ruled unanimously in my favor, Judge Galik, who consistently ignores the law in favor of ruling in for her favorite family-law lawyer cronies (especially if he's male and contributed to her campaign fund), ignored their edict and did not award me my considerable attorney's fees (Even though I won the case and had drained my life savings to protect my son.) stopped my child-support and did some other egregious and basically unlawful things. This is just a microcosm of her flagrant abuses of power. There is an election this November, 2006, for this judship of the 245th Family law District Court. This judge needs to GO! My vote is going to Mary Kay Green a Democrat. (Yes, you CAN split your ticket when you vote!) Look at it this way. If we don't get rid of Judge Galik and others like her, her rampant abuses will continue to go unchecked not unlike those of a serial killer who's motto is; "Stop me if you can!" 5:04 PM

Could it possibly be? A Republican judge goes down? Probably not. Galik: winning narrowly. One of the last remaining bits of local election uncertainty is the fate of Annette Galik, a Family Court judge in Harris County since 1994. (She sits on the 245th state district court bench). Galik is not well loved by Houston lawyers. She regularly ranks among the least regarded judges in the Houston Bar Association's Judicial Evaluation Polls. In 2003, a remarkable 62 percent of lawyers ranked her performance as "poor." Although a Republican judge has not lost a race in Harris County in at least a decade, Galik is making a race of it. With nearly 97 percent of precincts counted tonight in Harris County, she is leading Democrat Mary Kay Green by less than 6,000 votes, 50.5 percent to 49.5 percent. With just a few precincts left to be counted, she will probably win. Posted by Eric Berger at 11:55 PM | Comments (3)

likeke27 --- 6 years ago -

not trying to start anything, just a question!!1

O Nellie --- 6 years ago -

I wonder how true this is...that is TERRIBLE. I have a hard time seeing her win re-election last year if this information was already public (unless it is false).

O Nellie --- 6 years ago -

don't we all have dirty little secrets =) (Maybe I AM trying to start something, LOL!!!!) JUST kidding of course

HIAAK --- 6 years ago -

are you going to only protest her or all the judges that have dirty secrets? If that's the case you may as well protest them all. I worked in the system and KNOW without a doubt all of them have a dirty secret. No on another note, Annette Galik was who I had for my divorce. I did not have money for an attorney and filed pro se. She helped me out EVERY bit of the way and removed visitational rights to my oldest DD's "father".

lonesophist --- 6 years ago -

It's my understanding that SS's case is pending in this court. I don't think it's a good idea to go down there and make the judge angry until the case is finalized. The best way to protest a judge is to do exactly what was posted here. Put the word out and make sure people know about her and her inappropriate behavior and rulings. Contact the Houston Press and let them review her record and write about it.

has SS actually been on a thread and explained what has happened today or are we "assuming" the worst? i, personally, think we need to give her time and space and she will be back on here and will share with us what she wants us to know.

Search her name in the archives of the houstonpress online. Look at the dates on the articles...this has been public knowledge for some time. I never vote straight ticket. Anyone who voted a republican straight ticket when Judge Galik was up for election voted for her. Research before you go the polls. It is so important. In some states the Judicial elections are non-partisan. I personally believe that if the Judicial elections in the state of Texas were non-partisan, Judge Galik would probably not be on the bench today. JMO.
