If you pay money to a hooker, you are coercing them for sex.

co?er?cion
kōˈərZHən,kōˈərSHən/Submit
noun
the practice of persuading someone to do something by using force or threats.

Nope, an agreed upon transaction for monetary gain does not qualify as coercion.

Harvey Weinstein solicited HER for oral sex in exchange for a job. That's called the casting couch and men like him use it and profit from it. She should have spit in his face.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 6 days ago -

Unfortunately, she didn't, and now makes the entire case against him at risk- I hope she gets jail time.

I don't know whether he offered or she offered first. Why don't all women reject these types of "arrangements" or offers? Could it be that she rationalized that the possibility of becoming a star and becoming wealthy was worth the personal sacrifice she willingly made?

I saw an old interview with Maureen O'Hare and she spoke of this in indirect terms and said she always refused it because her marriage and family were more important to her than stardom.

The other observation I have is that this seems much more common in the entertainment/media industries. Regular corporate America dealt with it a long time ago.

What corporate America deals with now more than ever is not the consensual relationships, but the attempted shake downs perpetrated by women in the office.

Prolix,

Yeah you busted me using the wrong term for a hooker?s consent. Yay. You won the internet yesterday. I guess I can look forward to my grammar being corrected here too?

KwMillennial --- 5 days ago -

Emperor of Kingwood,

Why are you so focused on the young girls ambition and position of less power as being a problem, and not giving the weight of the responsibility to Harvey Weinstein?

It?s that view that makes me think I?m talking to someone from the 1960s.

It?s that view that makes me think I?m talking to someone from the 1960s.

Its this statement and the generalized lack of comprehension that makes me think I'm talking to a 10th grader.

You are. He's a misogynist, but will claim of course that everyone else is dumber than he, and lacks all the worldly wisdom and education he possesses.

He is only an emperor in his own mind.

KwMillennial --- 5 days ago -

I picked up on that too.

But oh lucky day..I was worried I would come across as a 9th grader. I can settle for 10th grader

Yeah you busted me using the wrong term for a hooker?s consent.

Hey man, I'm here to help.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 5 days ago -

He's a misogynist

Lets just get them all out there right now, Racist, bully, hater, sexist, xenophobic. Did I miss any? Now that those are out there and been said, do you have anything of actual substance to ad to a discussion?

Prolix Raconteur --- 5 days ago -

You forgot islamophobic, ableist, cis-gender, transphobic blah blah blah blah....

Emperor of Kingwood --- 5 days ago -

Oh your right. You made me feel uncomfortable by pointing out my flaws. Now I need a safe space and a coloring book.

The entire casting couch dynamic was created by powerful men in Hollywood. They know they dictate who gets the job and who doesn't. That's called POWER. This whole issue is about power, as I've said numerous times. Of course women should reject them but if this is how the game is played, women can't change it. If the men who hold the power would base who gets a role on actual legitimate criteria like talent, and not whether a woman will get on their knees or not, we wouldn't have this issue now would we?

It's corruption and power at the very core. Men hold the power and they create a dynamic by which they pressure actresses to conform or wait tables bc they're immoral disgusting pigs.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 5 days ago -

I agree that its corrupt and immoral and a gross misuse of power.

As long as women have something men want (you know what that is) and women are the gate keepers (as they should be over their bodies), that's also power. Power will get abused. Read the story of King David and the lessons learned about power. Seems there's a constant power struggle between men and women.
