Well that’s not helpful. It seems like every time I try to have a conversation with someone here, a moderator prevents them from replying. I have never seen anything these people typed that is wrong to say.

This is getting ridiculous. What is the point of this message board?

Ironic that on a topic where people are claiming banning guns does not work, there seems to be a belief that banning certain speech does work.

If he is one of the regulars that repeatedly gets put in the icebox, when are you going to see that it is not working? Are we really trying to change behaviors or does this appeal to some sense of punishment? The site owner apparently does not care anymore. He or she will not pay anyone to do the job. The owner might not even know that the “job” of moderator does not even need to be done anymore now that just a few people post here.

What bad things would happen if the moderators just removed themselves from the job and went back to just posting like the rest of us? What bad things would happen?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 3 years ago -

I honestly think this is way more of a mental health issue than a gun issue-

Yes it is. We've had semi automatic weapons available for more than 100 years. This mass shooting problem is a bout a 30 year old issue. What has changed? Moms at home? The disintegration of the family structure?

Prolix Raconteur --- 3 years ago -

The disintegration of the family structure?

This^ and rampant over prescription of mind altering medications for the most minor and often misdiagnosed mental and developmental health issues. Something bad is bound to happen when half the school is diagnosed and drugged for ADD, ADHD blah blah blah...

sdanielmcev --- 3 years ago -

What bad things would happen?

This forum would devolve even further.
BTW, are you incapable of sending PMs?

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 3 years ago -

".....every time I try and have a conversation with someone here..."

You must talk to Mark or Fuzz of Joe Blow a lot bc they're the only ones who get iced. And they TRY to pretty consistently like clock work. Admin is well aware of it and wants us to keep doing what we're doing.

This site is a private business. They are conservative people who want this to be a family friendly type place. They can run it however they see fit. Trouble makers don't have free speech in this setting. You are asked to obey the rules so you may participate. Harassing the mods is not going to be to tolerated.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 3 years ago -

KwMillennial, perhaps you'd be happier posting on a millennial blog site, where others with underdeveloped frontal lobes can fight with each other! When you're a little older, this site might look better to you! No insult intended.

KwMillennial --- 3 years ago -

Where “others with underdeveloped frontal lobes can fight with each other” with an exclamation point at the end, does not match “No insult intended”. Are you trying to be clever with your insults?

I admit I had to use google to understand the insult (which of course you didn’t intend). What I found was this interesting article: https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=124119468
If this is the “no insult intended” point you were trying to make, it might actually surprise you to learn that the issue is not an underdeveloped frontal lobe, but one that is not yet fully connected - IF I was a teenager.

I’m in my 20s. According to the chart in the article, it is true that teenagers do not have a fully connected frontal lobe. But what is overlooked is - neither do people over the age of 50.

If you are past your 50s, we’re just about at the same point in the strength of that connection. I’m sorry to report that you’re on the downside of the bell curve and I’m on the rise. No insult intended. I mean that honestly. I’m just pointing out that despite your “no insult intended”, there is no reason to disrespect me due to my age. Anything I say is fair game.

fuzz81 --- 3 years ago -

They are conservative people

In other words, it’s biased against anyone who isn’t in lockstep with their antiquated ideology.

ATD literally just attacked a poster in her last message on this thread. Will you ice her? Nope.

KwMillennial --- 3 years ago -

Anyone right out of college and working their first job learns that older generations that have been there longer will resent a younger person making an honest point about office culture that if made by an older person would be more tolerated.

So I totally expected the responses people have given me when I have given honest feedback about very obvious undesirable things happening here. Some of you like shutting down conversation when it doesn’t please you. Others with the ability to shut it down like to claim it is not them, they are just enforcing the wants of the site owner. But they gladly do the dirty work anyway. The problem with that justification is the site owner already communicated to us through The Wizard, that the owner doesn’t really care. This is exactly why moderators are not paid. But anyone will gladly accept free labor.

KwMillennial --- 3 years ago -

Fuzz81,

I do not want ATD to be iced. She should be free to say whatever she wants even if it is at my expense. I know you are just pointing out the hypocrisy and of course you are right. I just wonder why few others do not see it and not many people want to do anything about it.

Thanks for the info!

The under developed prefrontal cortex of the 20 something brain is definitely a factor in their poor decision making and overall lack of wisdom. The prefrontal cortex also referred to as the brains executive manager. Add to it, the damage done to the prefrontal cortex by the use of marijuana.

KwMillennial --- 3 years ago -

You might want to read the article I posted. It also affects people over 50 and it only goes downhill from there.

Once you get past the age of 60, the drop off just gets steeper. Adults start to have the mental functioning of teenagers at that point. That probably has a lot to do with why the elderly or so easily scammed.

That doesn't take into account memory. Your theory doesn't hold water.

Another generalization by you.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 3 years ago -

Another generalization by you.

Exactly. Comments by the incoming kids are usually ignored because they reflect their lack of experience and wisdom.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 3 years ago -

It's funny that the older I got, the smarter my mom was!

fuzz81 --- 3 years ago -

The conundrum with that statement is did you get smarter, or gullible?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 3 years ago -

And a happy Thanksgiving to you, too, fuzz! LOL!

fuzz81 --- 3 years ago -

You felt it prudent to demean young people on thanksgiving, so just thought I would return the favour.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 3 years ago -

Of course you did! Are you celebrating Thanksgiving even if it isn't your holiday? You should do it! A half full glass is always better than half empty one.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 3 years ago -

It's funny that the older I got, the smarter my mom was!

I had the exact same experience. I recall being a 30 something and thinking I knew it all. Looking back, I can now easily see how I must have looked to the experienced smarter people.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 3 years ago -

LOL! They probably thought that we were know-it-all little punks!

Emperor of Kingwood --- 3 years ago -

Exactly. Self absorbed know it alls

KwMillennial --- 3 years ago -

That’s an interesting view - the way you have referred to young people.

It is interesting to read that on this website. Do you all know how others view this forum?

When I first started seeing how you all treat other, I thought it was a bunch of young people. Then I started reading that maybe all of you are adults - like my mom and dads age. A lot of you claimed to be divorced or have had multiple divorces. Based on the way you all talk to each other, that is the least shocking thing about this place. If you are so bad and self centered with your communications, why would anyone want to stay in a relationship with you?

But that is one of the reasons I started posting here. I wanted to see what happens when adults start behaving like children. Maybe the ones that can see it left. So I am curious why all of you stay and still treat each other that way.

One moderator treats people like animals - scolding them and threatening them. Is that really necessary? Does that really make this place better? It was described as being a place for family values, but whose family really behaves that way? Mine never did.

KwMillennial --- 3 years ago -

I take back one statement. You probably treat animals better than you treat each other.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 3 years ago -

Honey, you need to chill! Emp and I were talking about how adults probably saw us at the time! It's not all about you! That's another thing I used to think when I was younger- I do treat animals better than people because they depend on me for everything! And they make me happy!

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 3 years ago -

This is what happens when they're out of school! This one even knows highly personal things like who has been divorced?? No one has talked about it....and wow all that wisdom.

KwW, stop baiting people into fights and trying oh so cleverly to stir the pot, you'll be iced. It's called a warning, and you have one.

fuzz81 --- 3 years ago -

LOL

You’re so aptly demonstrating their point.

Golf clap.

KwMillennial --- 3 years ago -

No one has talked about it?

http://kingwoodunderground.com/topic.jsp?topicId=11895942

Settle down mam.

Why are you scolding me for baiting people? Most topics that people actually respond to are for the purpose of baiting people. Is it only wrong when I do it?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 3 years ago -

When people bait others it's never for the right reason. it's immature and mean spirited. Please don't emulate them, it isn't becoming on them, and it isn't becoming to you. If you want to be an adult, rise above it. Meant in the nicest way!

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 3 years ago -

True conversation is not baiting and accusing ( oh all those divorces and we see why!!) or critiquing everything Mods do and constantly calling them out and now saying they treating people like animals?? LOL.
And I notice Fuzz follows you around cheering all you say...another trouble making sock puppet. That's not very creative , or original.

Emperor of Kingwood --- 3 years ago -

Emp and I were talking about how adults probably saw us at the time!

You are so right. When i came out of the Navy, I was a 28 year old former Naval Officer with an engineering degree from U of PA. I thought I knew it all. 30+ years later I realize how silly and immature I must have looked to them.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 3 years ago -

You just described 99% of us!

Emperor of Kingwood --- 3 years ago -

KwW, stop baiting people into fights and trying oh so cleverly to stir the pot,

It's not clever or smart at all. It's loquacious and didactic.

sdanielmcev --- 3 years ago -

But that is one of the reasons I started posting here.
Doubtful. You probably started posting because you thought us heathens would benefit from your skewed world view.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 3 years ago -

Mark, you push the limits until some mod ices you. It's like kids that do that and their parents take away privileges- why don't you see that? I know you raised a child. Doesn't this scenario sound familiar?
