MxMike --- 16 years ago -

I am just extremely curious who has the fine job of sitting behind a bunch of monitors watching us.

LuckyMe --- 16 years ago -

Transtar

Sandyr9111 --- 16 years ago -

Those are the traffic signal changers.

SweetTaterNTexas --- 16 years ago -

Have you seen the movie EagleEye??

MxMike --- 16 years ago -

Those are the traffic signal changers. I have never seen these cameras used that way, I am beginning to be sure that is a myth. When have you seen a firetruck, police car or ambulance stop and wait for the lights to change, then go? They pull up making a ton of noise, everyone stops, and they take off and everyone resumes their driving. And the 3rd picture can't possibly be a signal changer.

MxMike --- 16 years ago -

Have you seen the movie EagleEye?? Nope, good flick?

Sandyr9111 --- 16 years ago -

They have sensors on them for cars. Sort of like the things on the road that woiuld sense weight and change the light....these r the updated models. The round ones are Transtar cameras for accidents in busy intersections.

SweetTaterNTexas --- 16 years ago -

I thought it was a good flick

MxMike --- 16 years ago -

The round ones are Transtar cameras for accidents in busy intersections. I need to look into this more. They shouldn't have made them look the exact same as a camera if they aren't cameras. And if it's a sensor that picks up a signal, why would it need a visor?

MonzaRacer --- 16 years ago -

And if it's a sensor that picks up a signal, why would it need a visor? Maybe to keep sunlight and/or rain off the lens which could possibly distort the signal...

PS --- 16 years ago -

IHIOGA that Dick Cheney has a part time job with Transtar.

burbchick --- 16 years ago -

Aliens trying to figure us out lol.

Ogre1 --- 16 years ago -

The average Houstonian has their picture taken 87 times a day. And we're pikers compared to London. They can track a car, using license plate recognition software, from the moment it enters the city to the moment it leaves!!! The average person in London has their image captured by camera or video 300 times a day.

MxMike --- 16 years ago -

The average person in London has their image captured by camera or video 300 times a day. I don't like it.

Ogre1 --- 16 years ago -

I don't like it. Roger that! And it's getting worse here... now we have cameras giving us tickets. Facial recognition software, gait software...what's next? Eye print proof of identity for credit card purchases?

zapper007 --- 16 years ago -

Eye print proof of identity for credit card purchases? Would limit freaks scamming us and stealing id-s, don't ya think??? Careful, boogieman is a coming. You are not paranoid as long as you know they are watching you!!!!!!

zapper007 --- 16 years ago -

now we have cameras giving us tickets NOT - we earn those tickets thru our own actions...the camers have nothing to do with poor driving habits...

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 16 years ago -

dude, are you medicated? just curious, because this level of paranoia surely has a clinical antidote. oh and btw.....I'M watching YOU!

zapper007 --- 16 years ago -

Aliens trying to figure us out lol What a totally boring investigation!!! Do you really think they care about Texans running stop lights...

zapper007 --- 16 years ago -

oh and btw.....I'M watching YOU! I can see you also...LOL

zapper007 --- 16 years ago -

Maybe to keep sunlight and/or rain off the lens which could possibly distort the signal... Help - an intelligent answer. What is up with KU???

Ogre1 --- 16 years ago -

dude, are you medicated? Oh, I wish.... And ARE YOU WATCHING ME NOW??? :-P

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 16 years ago -

And ARE YOU WATCHING ME NOW??? :-P yes, pervert, put your pants on, no one wants to see your shreck.

Nightstorm --- 16 years ago -

And here I thought those cameras were just for taking pictures of those running red lights.

Ogre1 --- 16 years ago -

no one wants to see your shreck. Huh..funny how you already know his nickname... :-P

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 16 years ago -

Huh..funny how you already know his nickname... :-P ;) dirty.

rEVOLution --- 16 years ago -

And it's getting worse here... now we have cameras giving us tickets. Facial recognition software, gait software...what's next? Eye print proof of identity for credit card purchases? Almost 40 cameras on the roof of our local walmart. WTH? A friend of mine proved that they are not there for our safety. Some one rammed into to the back of his vehicle in the walmart parking lot. When he went to walmart to get the video to see who hit his vehicle they stated that they had no images of that accident. COME ON, almost 40 cameras and not one caught what happened? Something aint right.

lindagail --- 16 years ago -

no one wants to see your shreck. I do, I do! ;)

burbchick --- 16 years ago -

Aliens trying to figure us out lol What a totally boring investigation!!! Do you really think they care about Texans running stop lights... And if you would get your head out of your butt you would see the 'lol' after the comment. It was a joke.

MxMike --- 16 years ago -

There are such things as strobe activated light changers for the FD I have been looking at those, and they are MUCH different from the cameras.

MomTimesFive --- 16 years ago -

I guess I have a clear conscience. It doesn't bother me that someone might be watching me while I'm out in public.

MomTimesFive --- 16 years ago -

In fact, I'd be a bit flattered!

MxMike --- 16 years ago -

In fact, I'd be a bit flattered! Why would they be watching us? For our "safety" and "security," I'm sure. I am not doing anything wrong either, I don't want to be under surveillance. They are unneeded.

MomTimesFive --- 16 years ago -

Why would they be watching us? For our "safety" and "security," I'm sure. Why do you think "they" are watching us?

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

Would limit freaks scamming us and stealing id-s, don't ya think??? The only problem I see with measures like these designed to "ensure" our "safety" is that with every good is a bad. You can be sure entities will cross the line and use technology against us, and you must realize our government isn't immune to corruption. Just be prepared. LOL.

BrittanyJade --- 16 years ago -

I guess I have a clear conscience. It doesn't bother me that someone might be watching me while I'm out in public. It has nothing to do with having a clear conscience. It has to do with basic constitutional rights and a right for privacy. People may not have a problem with being watched, but it is our right to know about it and our right to know why and what it's being used for. If that was the case, we all wouldn't be sitting here having this disscusion in the first place.

MomTimesFive --- 16 years ago -

I can't imagine why someone would be watching us. That's what I don't understand. Who, why and so what? If we're in public, anybody can see us with or without a camera, so our privacy is not assured once we step out the door.

Mabbers --- 16 years ago -

I can't imagine why someone would be watching us. That's what I don't understand. Who, why and so what? Anyone interested. Thieves, murderers...the behavioral police. The implications are enormous if you open up and wrap your mind around the possibilities. I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm not oblivious to warped egos and criminals of all sorts. They're out there, and our technological advances are theirs as well.

MomTimesFive --- 16 years ago -

Thieves, murderers... These people can mount cameras at intersections now?

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 16 years ago -

Thieves, murderers... These people can mount cameras at intersections now? only if they have a permit.
