Has anyone had one and if so, how much did it cost? I called my insurance and just want to get an idea of what I will need to pay.

goatlady --- 5 years ago -

Not as much as a baby!

4boys --- 5 years ago -

Not as much as a baby! That's what I was going to say!! :)

Your hubby is not a happy man right now...................

momof5 --- 5 years ago -

we had to pay a co-pay of $40. Each plan is different, and if you don't have insurance, you'd have to call the specific doctor and see what prices they offer.

onthegomom --- 5 years ago -

I already know what my insurance will cover. I have a deductible and then a percentage of the cost. That is why I want to know the total cost for one. Your hubby is not a happy man right now................... Actually he said I have been through enough with birth of 2 kids, so he is all for it.

Schedule it for a Thursday or Friday, and he will be ready to go back to work on Monday.

Look up urologists in the phone book and call and ask. They'll be able to tell you the basic cost. It's an outpatient procedure with 2 stitches. It's a local anesthetic (sp) and a Rx for an anti-biotic and pain meds. the down time is about 2-4 days.

great advice mom. Like you, we paid a deductible so I have no idea what the actual surgery cost.

jklucas03 --- 5 years ago -

my husband had it done in the dr office so it was only the copay

Brittany's Mom --- 5 years ago -

Ours was the cost of an office visit so it was $15.00 That is it Because it is not really a surgery or anything. Much cheaper and easier then if I had gotten my tubes tied.

$25 ~ We paid our office co-pay, and had it done as an outpatient thing at the doctor's office ~ We got the guys name off here too....can't remember who it was ~ It was about 3 years ago.

Dr Aborto --- 4 years ago -

I just got one 3 weeks ago. They told me that it was just my $35 co-pay. I thought that sounded weird so I called my insurance and they told me it was $100 something plus 20%. So I called the doctors told them what insurance said and they said, "We called and it was just $35 but well double check and call you back." They called me back and said that yes it was just $35. So I guess we'll see if I get a bill from the insurance company in a few weeks but as of right now it was just $35. If I wanted to pay everything out of pocket, a vasectomy is $600 and some change plus $100 for the initial consult.
