CHRISTY WILSON --- 11 years ago -

MY SISTER WAS TOLD FRIDAY THAT SHE HAD CERVICAL CANCER. THIS IS A HARD SUBJECT TO DEAL WITH IN MY FAMILY SINCE MY MOTHER DIED FROM BREAST CANCER. SO SHE SPENT HER WHOLE WEEKEND WORRIED AND CRYING. WELL COME TO FIND OUT, DR. NUNNERY CALLED MY SISTER YESTERDAY AND SAID "SORRY, WE MIXED UP YOUR RESULTS WITH ANOTHER PATIENT." WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY MY SISTER WAS FURIOUS. WHAT IF SHE HAD WENT THROUGH ACTUAL CHEMOTHERAPY FOR SOMETHING SHE DIDN'T HAVE?? WHAT ABOUT THE POOR LADY WHO ACTUALLY HAS THE CANCER? THE INTERESTING THING ABOUT THIS WHOLE STORY IS THAT DR.NUNNERY WAS MY MOTHER'S DOCTOR ALSO. GO FIGURE.

Goodness sorry to hear that - I guess that is what second opinions are for :)

Margo --- 11 years ago -

Yikes............ I am sorry. I cant imagine what would be going through my mind a whole week-end knowing something like that..... I am glad the results are wrong though, so I guess tht is something to be thankful for

outermaga --- 11 years ago -

That is very hard and very stressing to put your family through. This would make me very cautious of this doctor also. Though everyone makes mistakes and it sounds like they caught on to the mistake fairly quickly and let you guys know.

blondeitalianOLD --- 11 years ago -

that is horrible. i went to two specialist to confirm what my lump was before I did anything - that is crazy how that can happen. I am glad that she is not going to have to go thru it though.

I have a similar story, i found out i had cervical cancer about 2 1/2 years ago, well when i found out the dr had asked when was my last pap done because there was a significant amount of caner cells, i told her i had it done at a clinic avery year since i was 18 and it has been normal. well the dr asked if i could get the files from the previous clinic and so i called them to get the results again from my last pap and they said yes there was caner cells on the pap, there must of been a mixup and they didnt call me. Well needless to say i was livid, i told them they had a policy of calling people if thay had anything wrong on the pap and was told that if they couldnt contact me they would mail out a letter (i recieved neither) Naturaly i was told if i didnt hear anything than everything was fine so i went on my marry way thinking everything was ok because i didnt hear anything, stupid me now i call every time. anyways the stupid dr asst didnt have a answer for me she didnt even apologize!! Well now everything is good, i went through the treatment and had the cancer cells frozen off and they havent come back so far, the good thing is now my dr says they will do a follow up pap with any abnormal one just to be safe before starting any evasive treatment.

My mother told me years ago to always get the results from any test I had taken. Plus, have the rectal exam even though they usually give you an opinion if you haven't had problems. At the dermatologist, always have the full body scan regardless of why you go. It doesn't cost anymore and you never know if they will find something you were aware of.

A full body scan is part of a derm's assesment. It's just them looking you over from head to toe (literally) to see if there is anything unusual.

sheddy --- 2 years ago -

That is true, but they always ask, since you have to undress. I want to always get my money's worth! Lol

Hello Guys! I must add my 2 cents, since I have been going to Dr.Nunnery just 15 years! I must apologize on her behalf for the error. I myself am a medical professional with a Doctorate's degree. I fell ill 15 years ago and went to over 8 physicians without any diagnosis. This really made me feel horrible since I was in this profession myself. Only after giving up with fewer than three weeks to live. Dr.Nunnery was my Guardian Angel. Literally, she ordered multiple consults which led to a diagnosis, and after being on meds for over 10 years, I am disease free. At the time of my illness, I had daughters 5 and 12. I was told to get my home in order and prepare for burial. I know this does not negate the wrongs, but it definitely lets one see both sides of human nature. Give her a try, if she is accepting new patients. For she is so busy, they may not be accepting new patients currently. Just say I'm glad to be here.

Love me some Dr. Nunnery! You'll be lucky if you are able to get in to see her.

Her office as of late has run amuck with disorganization due to reasons I don't care to discuss. No doubt, they will be back on board very soon and running like the tight ship they always are.
