I see good deals at every grocery store, and still dont find myself shopping at one grocery store most of the time. Where does everyone think the best place/deals are?

Fallon --- 14 years ago -

I hate the parking at HEB, so I rarely go there. I don't like that you have to unload your cart there too.

Randall's is crazy expensive, so I rarely go there either. Same deal with the carts.

I usually go to Kroger, they do unload your cart for you:)

Target is where I buy meats. Outside of a butcher, best quality meat you can buy.

Eyes Of Green --- 14 years ago -

wal-mart, i comp alot of my items.

RedMulch --- 14 years ago -

I know what you mean........but i go there mostly

Randalls is expensive.......

I'll have to try Kroger meat....i have not had good quality beef since i lived in Charlotte, NC (from Fresh Market)

Fallon --- 14 years ago -

Target has the best meat. Krogers is OK, but Target is far and away the best.

Oh I loved Fresh Market!

la guerita --- 14 years ago -

HEB has the best overall prices, imo. If you wait for items to go on sale, sure you can catch a sale elsewhere, but in general HEB seems to be cheaper with a great selection. Also, Target will have great clearances from time to time in their grocery section.

wal-mart, i comp alot of my items.

The few times I have been to Walmart, they were pricey imo. Target now will also price match with an ad like Walmart does. And the problem with price matching with Walmart is that they don't sell the same sizes as other stores of items.

Cajunmom --- 14 years ago -

I shop pretty much only at HEB. I've always been asked if I want help out to unload groceries.

Fallon --- 14 years ago -

Cajun I mean unloading your cart inside the store to have the groceries rung up. Not help to my car.

Alway has been a huge pet peeve of mine. I don't shop at Randall's for this reason, even over their high prices.

I expect to have to unload my groceries at a Target or Walmart, but I hate to do this at a grocery store.

ForestMama --- 14 years ago -

I mainly shop at Kroger. I will do Grocery Game at Randall's when they have stuff that's a really good deal, or I'll shop their loss-leaders (stuff on the front page of their weekly ad).

I go to HEB too. That's the only place I shopped in San Antonio when we lived there, of course, there's really no competition there for them. They do normally have the best overall prices.

I don't really shop much at Target, unless I am looking for certain clothing items, etc. I just don't go there. Their meat was good, the couple of times I bought it there.

I buy bulk items like dog food/cat food, things like that, at Sam's, but I do price comparisons regularly to make sure I'm getting good deals. They aren't always the best price.

rightwingmom --- 14 years ago -

Kroger combined w/ Groc. Game!

ruby8 --- 14 years ago -

I agree about randalls! Really expensive. I went once and didn't even do a complete shop, and it cost so much. I went to kroger in porter and wasn't very keen on the atmosphere, and walmart have some good prices but there constantly packed with people!!! I think target is my favorite!

Cajunmom --- 14 years ago -

Oh, now I understand fallon. lol - remember my brain is fuzzy today because of the root canal.

oy with the poodles already --- 14 years ago -

90% at HEB, with a random trip to Kroger to catch a good sale deal. I think HEB has the best overall prices, but their sales aren't nearly as good as Kroger. I shop at the one down in Atascocita and I rarely unload my own groceries. Maybe they just take pity on the pregnant woman with the 3 year old in tow!

Sandyr9111 --- 14 years ago -

Hey now....dont knock our older redneck kroger! lol A signature store wouldnt float out here real well. It does need some updating i agree but its clean.

sweetpea* --- 14 years ago -

Kroger mostly but will get hard to find items at HEB. I love their Central Market Peach Salsa. The peach salsa that Kroger carries is not as good IMHO.

Dr Death Defying --- 14 years ago -

KROGER!!! ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!

Nightbirdsinging --- 14 years ago -

Walmart prices beat everybody else, from what I've seen, but they don't have the selection of HEB or Kroger. I also don't care for Walmart meat. So it's kroger at the first of the month, walmart at the end.

curlygirl --- 14 years ago -

My current favorite place for groceries is Target. They have come down on their prices and have a great variety. I like to try new things. They were a whole dollar cheaper on coffee creamer and picante compared to the Walmart on Northpark. We went to the one in Humble.

I like Kroger too. But I hate to fight crowds.

~Scotch~ --- 14 years ago -

HEB mostly. I cannot stand Wal-mart, so they rarely see any of my money.

deltoid1 --- 14 years ago -

Randall's and Central Market downtown.

kwjboy --- 14 years ago -

Most Randall's (front of Kingwood) but they have only a couple of checkers open at one time. Won't do self check-out if I have a lot of items. Kroger's is more fun.

Diamom --- 14 years ago -

Did anyone see the cost comparison article in Reader's Digest?

Target came out ahead a lot when the best buys.

They did not show local stores like HEB, Kroger, etc but more like Trader Joe's, online, etc

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 14 years ago -

Whole Foods and Central Market when I can get there. Locally they are all about the same. Hate Walmart-complete mess-love Target but never even thought about buying meat there.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 14 years ago -

Krogers on Northpark- I sure wish we'd get a Whole Foods, but for what ever reason we don't get good shopping centers, we probably won't get a Whole Foods-

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 14 years ago -

I never think of Target for shopping-I might try them if the parking isn't too bad-

ilovemydog --- 14 years ago -

I thought Target would be good to go to for those two things you need for dinner. Don't want to deal with wal-mart. HEB is (atascocita) is always seriously overcrowded and to get to Kroger you have to deal with the 1960/WLHP intersection (major PITA).

So went to target for the 2 things and they had THREE checkouts open with major long lines. Of course, no self-checkouts.

Still wound up being frustrated.

I guess I could be better organized, eh, and I wouldn't have to run in for 2 items.

la guerita --- 14 years ago -

Central Market downtown.

there isnt a central market downtown

kidsfan3 --- 14 years ago -

I shop at Kroger. I like to go to HEB too, but don't because the one in Atascocita is always TOO packed and the isles are TOO narrow!!! Maybe when the new HEB opens in Summerwood it won't be so crowded in Atascocita?

eterry2 --- 14 years ago -

I don't like that you have to unload your cart there too.

Randall's in town center used to unload your carts and when they put in new checkouts they had to comply with OSHA. They said that cashiers' job description was not lifting groceries. I think Kroger was grandfathered. Maybe if they update their equipment, they will not have this service either.

not sure if the story Randall's gave me back then is true. But that's what they told me.

eterry2 --- 14 years ago -

Archer Farm products at Target are very very good.

soccer14drama --- 14 years ago -

I love the produce at the Atas HEB. I just try to avoid 4-6pm on weekdays and completely on the weekends.

Iluvdzny --- 14 years ago -

Only Kroger for me.

I think that's " Montrose" not downtown.

~sassy~ --- 14 years ago -

I have a buffet clarinet I'd be willing to part with for 2,000.00 if anyone's interested ;)

Oh wait, better check with dd, but I doubt she'd mind.....just to be safe, I'll check with her tonight :)

Fordgirl --- 14 years ago -

Sorry I'm wrong that's around Kirby.

Has anyone noticed on the kroger receipt that they now charge a 2% phone charge? I noticed it when I got home but it did not seem to show up on the screen. It adds up quick next time I'm gonna say something.

steinhoister --- 14 years ago -

On the Run has everything you need...

kwjboy --- 14 years ago -

Central Market is technically closer to River Oaks not Montrose. Don't you people here in the burbs know anything about the fourth largest city in the U.S.? Geez!
