Does anyone know of a group that welcomes wounded warriors home. My son in law (Chris Sanford)will come in Wednesday August 3 at our airport around 6:030 pm on Alaska Airway. He and my daughter will come home to stay a while with us. In Kingpoint.

~grandma again~ --- 13 years ago -

i hope you get some good info for you on this. i am working on it but did not want you to think your plea was being ignored. God bless your son-in-law! I am glad he is coming home.

check with these guys they should know. I spoke with my brother and dad and they were part of the group that welcomed them home. My dad also said to check with what ever branch your son is in, and speak to a recruiter, they should be able to help. Also maybe try the college.

On a side note thank you and your family so much for defending our country, and for the many sacrifices you all have been through. I sincerely can not thank you enough!

Ditto! God bless your son in law & your family!

Would really like to put something on the Observer Newspapers websites to help bring people out for the welcome home. It's too late for print, but we can still drum up some support online.

Please email me ASAP if you're interested - sthomas@hcnonline.com.

I will need a couple of photos of the soldier (including one in combat gear if you have one) and would like to speak with you as well as with your daughter, the young man's wife.

ghostpost --- 13 years ago -

Thank you and your dear son-in-law for serving our country. I am sincerely grateful for your soldier's sacrifice and that of your family. I hope his wounds heal swiftly and I know that you are so happy to be reunited with him.

I would also suggest that you contact the Patriot Guard Riders in Houston.

If you guys need anything at all, Please feel free to contact me. I am living with a friend of mine that I met while I was married to a Marine in California. Her husband is a disabled veteran. Also my current boyfriend is a wounded vet as well. They all know a lot about all of these things. I would love to come to the airport and welcome him home but I have other things planned already. If I have the time I will come. I will definitely send him a text message thanking him for his service.

Are you sure that your son won't mind us texting his phone and running up his charges, a33738uu? I'm always thankful for the men and women who have enlisted in our Armed Forces and are protecting our Nation. Those who return home and are disabled in the line of duty are loved just that much more!

MsTC --- 13 years ago -

They have unlimited text..It will make him feel great.

~grandma again~ --- 13 years ago -

i keep running in to brick walls on this because of such short notice but still working on it to see what i can round up. i hope others are also working on it to welcome their wounded warrior neighbor home.

~grandma again~ --- 13 years ago -

i have called and left a message with the Wounded Warrior in San Antonio. perhaps they will have a more local contact.

MsTC --- 13 years ago -

thank all of you. Satuday at pm the patroit guard are comng out. If you want to come out and welcome him home saturday they will be here at 6 pm
address is 5810 Beaon Falls zip 77345.
we are going to line our street. Please park cars on street behind us...they want to keep out street clear. We had planned a family friend gathering so they are oing to suprise him and essort him here from riverwood middle school parking lot.

~grandma again~ --- 13 years ago -

great news. so what time do you want us to be at that address?

3monkeysmomma --- 13 years ago -

Any of my horsey friends want to come and greet him at the front of his street on horseback, dressed in red white and blue and with American Flags?

3monkeysmomma --- 13 years ago -

We could park our trailers at Riverwood middle or Willow Creek Elem, or at Strawbridge Methodist if we got permission.

Go Figure --- 13 years ago -

JUST FYI - Patriot Guard is discouraging folks from going to the airport and would much prefer people show up at Riverwood Middle School Saturday, no later than 5:30 p.m. Chris and Christine are scheduled to arrive around 6 p.m. and they want to be ready by that time. Aside from the motorcycle riders, there will be a flag line as well, as many people as possible stretching from Riverwood to the family's home about two blocks away. Working on a story to post on the Observer websites now and will provide link when it's done. What a great example of everyone coming together for a wonderful cause. Well done!! :-)

Bellarue --- 13 years ago -

Text message sent. :)

Bellarue --- 13 years ago -

My Family would be honored to come out and hold flags.

MsTC --- 13 years ago -

I have read the last post I have just been bought to tears. I can not tell you how much this means to our family. I know this will help heal Chris. Thanks to everyone. By the way horse riders christine rides. They have 3 horse and he has used horses as part of his therpy...That would be great to see them there. You can contact Patriot guard at 832-247-6872 to set up the horses.

Ladybug --- 13 years ago -

He comes in at the airport on Wednesday, but the greeting on the street is Saturday??
Please, I just want to make sure I have the days right!

Go Figure --- 13 years ago -

Yes, Saturday is the event we want people at :-)

In AbsentiaW --- 13 years ago -

Will the welcoming be in the baggage claim area?
Meeting at the gate when he deplanes might be a problem.
How do you get past TSA if you do not have a boarding pass?

A great idea but sorry we will be out of town.

~grandma again~ --- 13 years ago -

ok..here is the scoop. he is coming in on wednesday but that is for close friends and family time. then on saturday, we will all meet at the school parking lot for all of the goings on there. they (the patriot guard) will bring him to us at the school parking lot. be sure to be there by 5:30 saturday and bring your FLAGS!!!! see you all there. tell a friend and a neighbor.

workingmommiex2 --- 13 years ago -

call all the local TV stations to get coverage, they like a good, feel good story every once in a while. This young man deserves a ticker tape parage for use. Semper Fi

Go Figure --- 13 years ago -

I contacted ABC 13 so far

hummer --- 13 years ago -

Awesome, I think a group already volunteers at airport. Haven't heard back from my contact so can't confirm anything at airport. I believe it may be USO or something like that.

On the text number you may want to remove in a couple days to limit exposure of number to unscrupulous folks.
