I volunteer for Husky Haven and this morning I picked up a female black and white border collie that someone dumped at a construction site. I have two husky rescues that I've adopted and the female is very aggressive towards female dogs. I foster huskies for Husky Haven. I'm unable to keep the border collie. I will take the dog in for vetting and spaying if she isn't already spayed. I need to find a home for this sweetie. Please share and help me network her.

I also contacted the border collie rescue and several others. I would love to find her a home on my own...since the rescues are so full and incredibly busy.

Picture to be posted soon.

Thank you so much for saving her!!! Good luck finding a home for her!!! Saw the pic you sent on my phone, forgot to respond, but she is beautiful!!!

You are such a wonderful person PPKSMOM2!...thanks so much for saving her! I pray you find someone for her soon. I wish we could take her but DH said no more larger dogs for foster. He said no more foster's period but I think he would consider a tiny one if needed. Our Lucky Dog found such a wonderful loving family and he has boys to play with now...he seems to really like his new family!

Girls...I sent you her pic...anyone know how to post it? You know I am computer illiterate, lol. It's also on KDC on my thread there if anyone knows how to transfer it over...I will give you big kisses!

Hey, I am so glad you found a great home for your foster! Good job. : ).

I know you just picked her up but can you tell me anything about her? Is she a younger dog? We have a 9 month heeler mix and we've been thinking of getting him a playmate. We have an older dog that just wants to lay around and wants no part of his nonsense! If you could tell me anything about her, I would appreciate it.

Pumpkinsmom --- 12 years ago -

Luvdoggies, my DH took her to a Vet and she is microchipped. He went by her home and saw where she dug out, he left his number. When they call us I am going to meet them and do my own little investigation on what happened to her. She is a happy, well adjusted dog. She doesn't flinch when I hug or pet her...no signs of abuse (being in rescue you know when a dog is abused or neglected). She is chubby so she was well fed, she knew what a doggy door was so she is an inside dog. I am hoping someone else found her and dumped her. We will see what they say. If they don't seem to love her I will not give her back.. Thanks so much for your interest, I will update you after I meet them.

If you are interested in saving another life and want a Border Collie I have posted below the info from Border Collie Rescue Texas for you below.

BCRT is a volunteer non-profit organization which accepts Border Collies from owners, shelters, and other rescuers. Some rescues are pedigreed, some look and act purebred but have no verification, a few are known BC mixes. Rescues are 1 to 3 years old, on average, but we do receive puppies and seniors on occasion. All BCRT listed dogs are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated and heartworm free and on preventive. Due to the recent increase of incoming dogs with Hip Dysplasia, we have elected to include a veterinary screening for this with all of our dogs over one year of age. The xrays are not sent to OFA and are on opinion of the foster's veterinarian. Adoption fees and completed applications are required. Application information will be verified.

BCRT matches families with Border Collies of compatible temperament and abilities. Fosters whenever possible try to evaluate all Border Collies with cats, other dogs, children, herding, agility, obedience, etc. A rescue dog will bond with a new family. Dogs seem to know when they've been 'saved' and have a desire to work with the new people in their lives.

If you want to help Border Collies, contact BCRT for more information. Foster homes are screened before acceptance. Volunteers are needed for transporting dogs, shelter checks, distributing posters and pamphlets, writing articles, training for herding, obedience, agility and much more! A hard copy of the dogs listed on this site may be obtained at no charge by contacting BCRT.

Our Mission:

To provide proper emotional and physical care to Border Collies whenever possible.
To spay or neuter all rescued dogs unless precluded from doing so for health reasons.
To educate the public in regards to the nature, needs and natural tendencies of a Border Collie.
To place rescued Border Collies in appropriate homes after proper screening.
To euthanize those dogs that are unable to function properly within society due to health or mental reasons.
To actively raise funds to meet Border Collie needs.
To respectfully come to the aid of other Rescuers whenever possible.
To teach and support those individuals that have adopted Border Collies.

Well, the microchip went back to owners from 4 years ago. They don't want her back. Luvdoggies...I sent you a pm.

doglady --- 12 years ago -

Crappy people!!! But better to be with you!!! Maybe you can find someone that will really love and want her:)

Pumpkinsmom --- 12 years ago -

DH took her this morning to the house (they weren't home) and she was SO excited. : (. Too bad humans don't have that huge capacity for forgiveness and love!

~grandma again~ --- 12 years ago -

how sad! if we had a fence up, i would take this dog in a heartbeat! the new owner needs to be sure they have plenty of room to let her run and herd things. they have an endless amount of energy.

i hope you find a really good, loving home for her soon.

Pumpkinsmom --- 12 years ago -

She was vetted today and we are waiting to get her HW results tomorrow. She is in her temporary foster home. I can't post pics but her picture is on my thread on KDC titled the same as this one.

She is very well behaved in the car and just a sweetie! Please ask around and help us find her a terrific home. Thanks all!

Zokomo --- 12 years ago -

I am her temporary foster mom, and this is one gorgeous border collie. Very sweet and lovable, and is starting to show her playful side. She gets along well with my labradoodle. If you'd like more info contact me or Pumpkinsmom.

Trinity is doing beautifully. I didn't hear a single whimper during the night. She did very well in her crate while I was at work, and enjoyed playtime in the backyard with my dog when I got home. Her sweet little face is full of expression, and you can tell she just wants to make you happy and wants acceptance. Not one single accident inside, and great appetite! One lovely girl. Spread the word, and send me or @pumpkinsmom a message if you know someone interested in a great family pet.
You can see a picture of her on kingwood.com. Just search the words "border collie" or "pumpkinsmom" and scroll down. She is a beautiful black and white, young adult, border collie

Mago4058 --- 12 years ago -

She is gorgeous!

How "aggressive"? I love Border Collies! Have 3 females but . . . . also 2 Rat Terriers, a Lab and two mixes. (Don't worry - I have plenty of acres!) Do you think she would settle down or is she going to be an only child?

Zokomo --- 12 years ago -

Hayley, so far she is doing fine with my labradoodle (he's a big baby). I wouldn't call her hyper-active, as I've heard some border collies are. She has lots of personality. So far she's pretty calm and laid back. She does love attention, and belly rubs! Let me and/or pumpkinsmom know if you would like to meet her.

sheltielover --- 12 years ago -

All Border Collie rescue is a local rescue group and I've known one of the rescue gals a long, long time. They may be full, but will probably still be able to help find her a home.

Haylee...she also got along with my dogs...and I have one mean Husky, lol. I watched over them while I socialized her and she was great. I just can't leave them alone together because my female will get jealous and hurt her. If you want to do a "meet and greet" I will gladly work around your schedule.

Sheltielover,,,thanks for the advice, but the wonderful folks at Border Collie Rescue Texas have already kindly agreed to list her! We sent her photos, bio, and pictures in this morning. I asked them to let me know when we can take her to an adoption event. Hopefully, the great exposure she will get on their website will help us find her a wonderful home.

Melanie, thanks so much for posting her picture!

Zokomo, another heartfelt thanks for fostering her!

Don't give up on me yet but we will be showing at the San Antonio livestock show next week - not a good time for introductions to new buddies. Please pm if you can and we can talk. Crossing my fingers - she's a doll

sheltielover --- 12 years ago -

Glad all Border Collie is able to help! I think this girl will find a forever home either through them or here. LOVE her name. And look into her face, those eyes...folks, that's the look of love, the glow from a dog who knows she's been rescued. It will never dim.
