Thanks defcon. It just sends chills to see all those flags and to realize how many have died to give us the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. God bless our military.

Good reminder. So many have given their lives to protect our freedoms. I'm so grateful to them and the families left behind.

Thank You!!! I am humbled that so few gave their lives for me. As my Dad reminded me years and years ago- Today is about those who died in War. But I honor First who died in Service and then All Who Served. My dh constantly reminds me it's Armistice Day not Veterans Day- but for me Life is short I honor everybody who has served

Armistic day is November 11th, which later became veterans day.

I visited a cemetery this weekend. Lots of flags, thankful for their sacrifice.

Memorial day trivia. All veterans graves in national cemetaries are decorated with flags on memorial day except 6. Where are the 6 and why?

the song "Oh, Johnny, I hardly knew ya" brings a lump in my throat when I see pics of the War between the States...

Dragon has the right war for the trivia question.

Its not the lawyer that protects your freedoms, its the service member and their weapon on watch 24/7/365 around the world.

There has been great sacrifice for our freedom both in the past and of course in this awful war we continue in. Please remember that this hits close to home. I know of three fine young men from Kingwood who gave their lives in Iraq. Please remember their sacrifice and their families today.

Camp Lejeune Marine Corps base had boots and photos of the fallen lined up outside of the base. It was quite an emotional sight to see.
