Robert Yarbough Benefit --- 12 years ago -

The Houston Fire Department works hard, with an average of about 815 calls per day to ensure your well-being and safety. On May 31st 2013, many Houston firefighters’ lives were changed forever. One of those fighters was one of our own Kingwood residents, EMS Firefighter Robert Yarbrough. Robert was severely injured while running into that burning building in effort to save lives when a wall collapsed on him and his team. Robert was rushed to Herman Memorial in critical condition. He suffered from a shattered foot, broken leg, a dislocated bone in his shoulder, a torn meniscus in his left knee and completely messed up knee that will need complete knee surgery in the right knee.

Robert is 52 years old and was born on October 5, 1960 in Huffman, TX. He is the youngest of 4 brothers, Duncan, Dennis, and Daniel and 2 sisters, Glenda and Kathryn. He has dedicated the last 31 years as a Houston firefighter, joining the debt in 1982. In spare time, Robert is a member Elite Texas Task Force One. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, and BBQ on his grill for all his family and friends. He lives in Kingwood with his wife, Amy Yarbrough; mother of his 3 stepchildren. 17year old Taryn Johnson who plays on the golf team for Kingwood High school. 14 year old Brandon Johnson who plays golf and football for Kingwood Highschool. And youngest, 7 year old, Austin Langley who plays for KFL. Robert also has two older children; 18 year old Ariel Yarbrough and 20 year old Chase Yarbrough who live in Wisconsin.

The life of this family they once knew burned in the Southwest Inn. BUT… life came out of the Inn too! Our Kingwood friend Robert was spared, and so we will honor him by having a benefit on Aug 3 2013 to help raise money for him and his family. Location will be at Town Center in Kingwood from 3:00 to 9:00. In preparation of the fundraising event, we ask for your support for the family. If anyone would like to help, we greatly appreciate it. We need gifts donated for the silent auction and any services you could provide. Please let us know if you could help in any way. Thanks everyone! If you would like to volunteer or donate silent auction prizes please email us at yarbroughbenefit@yahoo.com.
