Can someone recommend a good nail salon? I'm looking for acrylic nails that aren't too thick and doesn't take forever for them to do.

Dont go to Elegant Nails on NorthPark, I went to them for 2 years and the last time they drilled my nail too deep and it took a long time to heal. I go to Nail Trix in atascocita, they do a good job.

Nail Expertise

I went to them when I first started getting solar nails and finally couldn't take it any more. The lady there filed my nails so far down that I was sure I would leave there with bloody stumps. It hurt so bad and felt like she was burning me each time. This was a few years ago when they first opened, things may have changed since then. Maybe they were just learning, but I was tired of being their guinea pig. What ever the case, I will never go back there to find out.

I switched to Ocean Nails and was amazed that I could get my nails done without pain.

Sometimes I wish I could do my own. And not use the drill, but just a nail buffer.

I have had such bad experiences with nail salons. I tried to take off me shellac myself last night and just ended up with a crappy looking mess. I will have to go and have that stuff taken off at a salon. Then I am going to start painting them myself.

I was so disappointed about the new Kingwood Nails next to Randall's in the back of Kingwood.
I had a new set of acrylics put on and really liked the nail tech and the atmosphere, everyone was nice. About two weeks later, my nails started turning a light brown color, it was very slight but definitely not normal-I went back and they acted like it was not a big deal. I told them I was very concerned that the liquid they used may have been old. The owner assured me it was good stuff and convinced me to give them another chance. They were able to remove all the brown. I thought, for good measure, they would have discounted or given me a complimentary refill for my troubles but he charged me the regular price and my nails turned a slight brownish again. I have been getting acrylics for over 25 years and never had any kind of reaction like that. I'm staying clear of that shop.

Is it wrong that I would like to find a local nail salon that has English speaking employees?

I know that the only thing that should matter is the quality of the work, however sometimes it is a bit uncomfortable when the technicians are talking among themselves in another language and snickering.
