I have been feeding a chocolate lab that has been abandoned by his owner. His name is Charlie, very sweet, loves kids of all ages and gets along with other animals. His age is unknown and appears to be healthy just maybe a little skinny. He has been wondering the neighborhood for several months and needs to be rescued. Please let me know if you can help.

Thanks
Danell

Have you contacted Lab Rescue, or any of the other rescue groups? It's too cold for him to be outside! Could he maybe stay on your porch in your backyard, with an old blanket?

a2805217uu --- 11 years ago -

I have and no one will take him, apparently they only rescue from shelters not off the streets. My husband has built him a dog house and he has a comforter to lay on.

just a cutie! I so wish i could have another big doggie :( have a big enough farm as it is!

Have you tried to see if he's micro chipped?

a2805217uu --- 11 years ago -

He is not chipped. He is the best dog ever I just can't keep him, I have three of my own. He was the neighbors dog and when he sold his house the new owners said they wanted Charlie too. Well a month later they moved too and left Charlie behind to fend for himself.

AngieKaye --- 11 years ago -

that is so sickening! just look at that face how can you just abandon him???? I hope Karma comes to bite their booties for this one!

AngieKaye --- 11 years ago -

also have you thought of looking up to see is you can find the previous owners of the home? Tax office should know, maybe you can find them and let them know what happened to Charlie.

Also have you contacts Pals for Pooches? they are local in Kingwood area and might can help or Twyla's friends might can put him on the adoption list with them..

SSSSSSS --- 11 years ago -

I have a 4 year old chocolate lab and will take him for now to get out of the cold. If he bonds well with my kids and dog he may just stay, if not we can find him a good home! PM me

mutton --- 11 years ago -

How wonderful of you to try SSSSS....So sad for the poor dog to be abandoned like that......

FabFive --- 11 years ago -

How wonderful SSSS!!

Anyone that sells a dog with a house does not deserve to get the dog back! GRRR!

mutton --- 11 years ago -

Was thinking there had to be a reason they could not their dog with them....

mutton --- 11 years ago -

meant take their dog with them....

FabFive --- 11 years ago -

I don't know, I can't think of any reason to leave a dog behind when you move. People say that sometimes but it doesn't make sense to me!

a2805217uu --- 11 years ago -

The previous owner moved to Tennesse so I have had no luck finding him.
SSSSSSS, thank you. He has a dog house we built and a comforter but I am sure it is still cold. If you like you can bring your dog and kids to meet him. I will pm you.

AngieKaye --- 11 years ago -

I hope it's a good match for a family for Charlie. Would be great for him to have a family to love him specially on Christmas.

a2805217uu --- 11 years ago -

SSSSSSS came to meet Charlie and decided to take him home. Thank you everyone for you help and Merry Christmas.

Good news on Charlie's new home! Yay!

This story reminds me of how we came to "rescue" our dog. We had been pet sitting the neighbor's dog off and on. When she got remarried and moved, she asked if we could take him. At that point, I was already overwhelmed with critters and said "No". Later, we pet-sat for one last time, she told us her fiance would be picking up the dog in a few days and take him to the shelter. It broke my heart. She couldn't even do the dirty task and sent her fiance. We made room in our home and took in the dog. Never looked back.

So glad Charlie is doing well, please let me know if you need anything. I bet he loves it inside.

TexasOma --- 11 years ago -

Sometimes people make me sick.................then wonderful people like a2805217uu and SSSSSSS come along.

This thread makes me happy....thank you both for saving Charlie and thanks for everyone who pitched in to help him.

I just might be playing the devils advocate but since $$$$$$ had only joined KU five hours earlier before the offer to take Charlie I wonder if anyone did a thorough check on $$$. Was there a follow-up on Charlie after he moved.

Just asking since we had a very bad experience after we were hosting a dog and passed him on to the sweetest couple. It turned out to be hell for him and we took the dog back and kept him. Threatening the people who had him with law enforcement worked!

a2805217uu --- 11 years ago -

In Absentia W, I highly doubt he would mistreat Charlie. He brought his kids and his lab with him to meet Charlie. Charlie was no ones meal ticket, he needs to be fully vetted, he isn't neutered or anything. I have faith in SSSSSS and he had to join KU to respond to my post

Kayry --- 11 years ago -

I know nothing about this post, but I have to agree with a28---

SSS, thank you for giving this beautiful baby home to call his own for Christmas and taking everything about him on!
