In California they have these cycling classes called SoulCycle. It's a workout done on stationary bikes. Is there anywhere around Humble or Kingwood that offers classes like these. They are not the cycling classes that replicate outdoor cycling.

I would not say Soul Cycle replicates outdoor riding in any way, shape or form. But to answer your question- yes there are indoor cycling classes at every club in the Houston area and yes here in Kingwood.
I teach at Gold's and we have
Studio Cycle- a free style program where the instructor puts together the profile and music
RPM- a choreographed program produced by Les Mills
The YMCA is a SPIN facility- that's a free style program put together by the instructor within SPIN guidelines

Lifetime and 24 Hour are freestyle I believe- but don't know for sure.

Some instructors, such as myself, are also outdoor riders. Others are not. The more important qualities are Certification ( a nationally recognized base certification like ACE or AFFA) and a specific cycling certification like SPIN, Schwinn, Les Mills, Keiser, Cooper ( not sure if the last one is still around) and also should be CPR certified. It is a good workout whether the instructor is an outdoor rider or not.
Cycling classes at most clubs are included in your membership. There are some stand alone cycling clubs- I know there's a Real Ryder studio in The Woodlands. That bike will seriously kick butt!! The stand alones are pricey. Real Ryder classes are 19.00 a class or 129.00 a month unlimited.
Hope you find a cycle class you can enjoy

Ooops sorry- reread what you were asking. I don't know of any Soul Cycling classes per se. Maybe downtown. I've taken them at fitness conferences and was not impressed so I did not pursue that training

Thanks for the info. I have had foot surgery 2 times on the same foot & neither surgery was really successful. I have foot pain & can't do any classes that are weight bearing or where you jump on your foot at all. I was thinking that one of those classes might be something I could do.

you couldn't do it properly- a good part of the time, you're out of your seat, and the tension is set on high, as if going up a steep hill-

Suzanna- you definitely could do a cycling class. The way I teach my classes- I let the members decide if and when they come in and out of the saddle. Most instructors are sympathetic to people who have foot, knee and hip problems. If you tell an instructor you can't stand and why they are more than happy to let you do what you need to.
My dh rarely satnds. As a matter of fact most outdoor cyclists spend 90% of the time in the saddle- it's more energy efficient and therefore more energy can be spent on power to the pedals. Sitting doesn't mean you are not strong. I could teach an all standing class with no problem. Most people are not able to spend an hour in the saddle let alone 6-8 hours.I chose to teach like I ride outside- with strength and power and I let members have the option to sit or stand at will. So give it a try - just tell your instructor your limitations and let him or her guide you.
PS we have an instructor who has had multiple foot surgeries and she does just fine!!
