People have raved over The Kolache House on NorthPark. I had them. They were good and freshm sort of (They are reheated in the microwave) but I don't know what the big whoop is over them. To me they are simply a Danish.
I was born and raised in a very Czech and German community. Real Kolaches in my home town were the sweet dough with fruit, cream cheese and/or poppy seeds in the middle, sometimes dusted with a little powdered sugar.
If we wanted a "pig-in-a-blanket", we called those klobasniky. The klobasniky is a variation of a kolache but we would get slapped into next week if we call a klobashiky a kolache.
