Was it Red Mulch?? I cant remember but I would like to hear what the going rate is nowadays for new ones?? House is 1650 sq. ft

Thanks!

My experience has been that prices will vary from company to company, but the general rule of thumb is for every 500 square feet you're cooling requires, at the very least, a 1 ton unit.

If you're square footage is 1650 you could get by with a 3 ton unit, but you may want to consider a 4 ton unit.

I'm sure Defcon will shoot straight with you ... This is not a good time of the year to be having A/C problems.

Good luck.

He absolutely will be and Brian is just the greatest, most honest ac dude there is.
I had my system replaced about 3 yrs ago but I waited until late Oct due to knowing the heat in the attic this time of year would be unbearable for those guys.

I did purchase a new one in 2014. but not from Defcon. I got one from Kingwood Air and do no100t want to talk about how much it cost. lol. However, it is great. State of the art and has lowered my power bill by $100 .

I bought a new 5 ton condenser in January. Don't forget you have to convert it away from R22 to R410 i think, which may necessitate changing the evaporator too. Price tag was north of 5k.

We had a 4 ton trane complete unit outside and in attic with a new furnace, wifi thermostat and it was 8200.00. 3 years with no interest. That was in March

Purchased a 2 ton unit from Uni-serv American Standard for master bedroom and study. Whole new system for about 5k (In the spring when it was cool out). Very pleased. I can freeze icicles on my windows at night.

Kingwood air solutions are good but they were higher.
