Does anyone know of any? Hubby and I want to start fishing again but want to not have to drive far to do it. We are looking for a good comfortable fishing spot that produces "fish"!..lol...not just one you sit and waste your time at. Anyone?...know of a place close by?

MxMike --- 16 years ago -

Gotta think like a fish! Almost all the bayous around here have decent fish if find a spot where they can hide and whatnot. Also, the golf courses we have millions of are beautifully stocked with bass, catfish, bluegill etc. I have caught fish at every body of water I think i've tried fishing in and around kingwood.

Setta --- 16 years ago -

But where are the ones open for fishing that it's allowed..lol. We don't want to get ran off somewhere! I know you are a sly one and will go where you please but we're old folks..lol...we take chairs, ice chests, books to read, radio etc...and lunch...and umbrellas to sit under..lol...we do it up right!..hubby doesn't need all that stuff..but I do ;)

Buttercup:) --- 16 years ago -

We fish in along the bayous of Walden.

MxMike --- 16 years ago -

My fishing spots that I use often are these... Dunnam Road, off of mills branch dr. (Excellent fishing, Crappie, sunfish, bass, catfish, gar) But you are supposed to have a "membership" or something to go fish there. They've never bothered me about it... Bayou behind Fire and EMS heritage center...This spot is pretty good fishin if the water isnt clouded with mud. This is the same bayou right before the YMCA. Foster's Mill Ponds, these ponds have lots of catfish and lots of white bass, something like this would be your best bet for the way yall would like to go fishin. They are on kingwood dr on the right towards the back of kingwood. And random golf courses... All the golf courses are good fishin, but the people who run the golf course thats in fosters mill don't mind if we fish, so we use that location a bit! I hope this helps!

I go to East End Park alot and always catch something. There are planty places along the trails to fish at.

Do ya'll have a boat?

Setta --- 16 years ago -

Thanks Y'all....I'll write these places down! We also know of a reservoir not far from here on the other side of Beltway 8 coming from Duesson Park and then down on the left...it's sort of hidden. I don't think he thought of that this morning...I know I didn't until just now. I wonder if there is good fish in there though...guess we'll have to check it out. We need fishing licenses...anyone know how much they run this year...fishing and camping only?

Peace out --- 16 years ago -

Don't know bout camping but a freshwater one year adult resident fishing liscence is $28.00. BTW, it's called '1 year', but no matter when you buy one, they ALWAYS expire 8/31.

MxMike --- 16 years ago -

I don't think you need one if you're fishing from shore, at least its what I've heard and always stuck with it lol.

Peace out --- 16 years ago -

You need one, for sure!

cuckoo'snest --- 16 years ago -

What type of bait or lure do you use?

Setta --- 16 years ago -

Do ya'll have a boat? Not anymore =(.....but that's OK...we don't mind fishing from a pier or bank. We are thinking of fishing on Valentine's Day =))))))))))...how romantic huh?...lol.

Peace out --- 16 years ago -

=))))))))))...how romantic huh?...lol. At our house, YES, and I'll be the bait! Have fun!

cuckoo'snest --- 16 years ago -

So you need one for sure from fishing from shore on an interior lake? I thought those lakes belonged to the hoa in which we pay our dues to. I did not know that these areas are part of the fish and game jurisdiction. To add I think you better have the infamous k sticker before the fishing license if fishing inside of kw.

I'll never give up my super secret "honey hole"!

cuckoo'snest --- 16 years ago -

Lol mr.b I was just thinking the same thing. How the tale of fisherman and truth goes hand in hand. Lol

KWMommaX3..now 4! --- 16 years ago -

I'll never give up my super secret "honey hole"! I damn near freaked out when I saw you posted on this thread..you better not tell!!!!

Buttercup:) --- 16 years ago -

hMM think I'll make the Dh go get the boat this weekend.

Peace out --- 16 years ago -

We'll be at the launch at Deussen Park! BTW Setta, I'm not sure about a liscence for private lakes, but the inlets at Deussen etc, are Lake Houston and that is definitely not private. Call Academy; they will know.

NewMommy --- 16 years ago -

My DH's license expires one year from the day he bought it (in May). But it's not just a fresh water. It may be salt and fresh, but I know for a fact it does not expire in August because we just fished at Duessen Park. My freshwater one was $28 I think. Supposedly the marina on the left side of the bridge on your way to Huffman has lots of catfish. We have not fished there yet. It's $10 (per car I think) to fish there per day. We fished off the banks in Duessen park, near the boat ramps, and didn't get anything. But other people say they catch crappie over there. If you find a good place, let us know! Have fun!

Peace out --- 16 years ago -

Anyone ever call about liscencing regulations? Guess I never considered that a lake might be privately owned.

BrittanyJade --- 16 years ago -

Huffman has some really good fishing spots... the "blue hole" is my favorite. Kingwood doesnt seem to have very many fish in my ponds... or maybe thats just my luck :)

Setta --- 16 years ago -

Wow...thanks for all the info! I just got in...had to go to the mall for a bit and to the gym ;)....wow that place is nice!

RaaY --- 16 years ago -

Now that I see all of this.. who wants to come fish with me??? Looking for a female who will be up for it :)

2cute --- 8 years ago -

I am a female, engaged.. so don't take my message wrong! I'm new to the area, moved here from Magnolia so I need some cool gals to hang with

Defcon1 --- 8 years ago -

Jeeeeze this is an old post. I wish I was still on here as MxMike. I don't remember why I changed my account.

I don't do nearly as much fishing as I used to.

Just to add an update, not sure what happened to the waters in the bayous but it seems as there are no fish left in any of the fishing spots. I have no idea if it's a water quality issue or what.

I've hit all my old spots and only caught maybe two or three decent fish all summer.

Best of luck finding a lady to fish with!

*LOL* --- 8 years ago -

I'm a female and I used to love to fish with my daddy and my uncles. I don't fish any more but I remember it as so relaxing.

One of my co-workers just went on a fishing trip in Arkansas with a guide along the White River. It was an all female group and it looked like so much fun. They stayed in cabins and their guide cooked their catch on the for them...a shore lunch.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 8 years ago -

There's something soothing about fishing, being out by the water, and relaxing. It's fun when that line starts pulling and tugging, lol. We always threw everything we caught back in. I don't want to hurt the fish and I don't eat fish so no sense in killing them.

That was ocean fishing in the perfect weather of SoCal...fishing here in the summer would be more like torture. Lol

Kingofthewoods --- 8 years ago -

The canals on the Golf Courses and Fosters Mill ponds both have a lot of fertilizer run off and I have only seen alligator gars for the most part. The golf courses are on private property and the people who live behind them might think you are "casing" their homes. I believe The Ponds are for Fosters Mill Village residents only as posted. Kingwood has parks on the river, just make sure you have your kingwood sticker on your vehicle. There is an online map of the parks and walking trails, just run a search.

Alligator gars! I've seen one of those here! It was beyond cool!
