..... that talking to them is like talking to a dining room table? Why do we allow our employees - our elected representatives to talk to us that way? We hold the power, and it is time we exercise it. What would happen if you told your boss this?

Sandyr9111 --- 1 years ago -

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Its kind of funny. We joke about "glazing over like donuts" if one of our bosses talks more than 10 minutes.

Steve --- 1 years ago -

As a general rule most nationally elected officials think that they are a high class of people because we elect them to office. They have completely lost the idea of "servitude to the populace."

alreadygone~~ --- 1 years ago -

"servitude to the populace." Careful... them thar are sum big werds.....

planemom --- 1 years ago -

Unfortunately, several representatives have said they will vote the way they want to without regard to what their constituents want.

OH SNAP! --- 1 years ago -

"DARTMOUTH (FOX25, myfoxboston) - Rep. Barney Frank lashed out at protester who held a poster depicting President Barack Obama with a Hitler-style mustache during a heated town hall meeting on federal health care reform." Yeah. I'm really upset this poor lady got treated so shabbily. Give me a break, Chunky. Were you just assuming people wouldn't read the article or what?

OH SNAP! --- 1 years ago -

Actually, let's get the whole picture here. "'On what planet do you spend most of your time?" Frank asked the woman, who had stepped up to the podium at a southeastern Massachusetts senior center to ask why Frank supports what she called a Nazi policy. "Ma'am, trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table. I have no interest in doing it," Frank replied. He continued by saying her ability to deface an image of the president and express her views "is a tribute to the First Amendment that this kind of vile, contemptible nonsense is so freely propagated.'"

So you think that because of the sign she carried, Frank can just treat her like dirt? Have you forgotten that all American politicians, including Obama, work for the tax payers? WE have the right to voice our opinion of them ANY TME! Don't forget it! If enough of us do forget and don't stand up for what we think is right and let the elected morons tell us what to think, we will lose the right to express our opinions and that will be a very sad day for all Americans, even for those not aware enough to see it happening!

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 1 years ago -

If my boss was in my face, screaming and hollering and being disruptive to my day, you bet your arse I'd tell him.

Ex-Lady In Blue --- 1 years ago -

If my boss was in my face, screaming and hollering and being disruptive to my day, you bet your arse I'd tell him. And you would promptly be either fired or written up.

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 1 years ago -

And then I'd promptly go to the person above him and explain the abuse I'd been working under.

Ex-Lady In Blue --- 1 years ago -

And then I'd promptly go to the person above him and explain the abuse I'd been working under. So Barney is supposed to complain to 0?

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 1 years ago -

Use a twisted means to tell a story and ask a question, you're bound to get twisted answers that just don't fit. I answered the question that was asked, I would tell my boss to eff off if he was in my face screaming and disrupting my day.

OH SNAP! --- 1 years ago -

So you think that because of the sign she carried, Frank can just treat her like dirt? Absolutely. Act like an ignorant, racist redneck and expect to be treated like one.

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 1 years ago -

So you think that because of the sign she carried, Frank can just treat her like dirt? You'd be okay with your boss standing in your office holding a sign that was meant to incite a reaction from you? You'd be okay with being screamed at on a daily basis? You'd be okay with being asked a question, but never being allowed to answer it, and then being complained about...that you never give out any information so you must be an ignorant liar? That's called abuse, and I don't know anyone in their right mind would stand for it on a daily basis in their workplace. I don't care what kind of work ethic you have.

Ex-Lady In Blue --- 1 years ago -

Yeah, I could see how some of dem would find this confrontational.

*momof5* --- 1 years ago -

try and put this in perspective.... Let's say for you, Ex Lady, your boss loved abusing animals. Told all sorts of sick jokes regarding hunting and household pets. Would you be ok with that since he's just "expressing" himself? How about if you tried to tell folks how you felt about animals, your love for animals, your work with rescue groups and your boss got in your face holding signs with abused animals and mocking your every word as you tried to speak? how well would YOU deal with that?

OH SNAP! --- 1 years ago -

Yeah, I could see how some of dem would find this confrontational. There is a lot of really good information in that video. You should watch it. BTW, I agree with every single word the man said. People were asking him questions just to hear themselves talk, then not allowing him to answer. When he did finally shut them up long enough to give an answer, the answers he gave them were very, very informative. Unfortunately, it appears they were too busy trying to figure out the next thing to yell at him to actually listen to any facts regarding the question they originally asked. And this actually isn't the video that corresponds with the article. In fact, the quotes cited in the article seem to be jumbled. He said the dining room table thing to the guy in the video ELIB posted, not the woman with the Hitler sign. It was interesting, though. I know I learned some things.

SweetDee --- 1 years ago -

Absolutely. Act like an ignorant, racist redneck and expect to be treated like one Thank you!! I saw it this morning on the news, I laughed my a$$ off, she got what she deserved.

ChunkyHeifer --- 1 years ago -

Remember, SHE has the power to vote him out of office.

OH SNAP! --- 1 years ago -

Not if she's in the minority. Kinda how this whole voting thing works. He was elected to represent the viewpoint of the democrats who elected him. If the majority becomes the Republican party, they will elect someone to represent the Republican party's viewpoint. That's not to say he shouldn't listen to opposing viewpoints, but that's exactly what he was doing. He was listening and ATTEMPTING to answer their questions. I really wish people would actually watch some of the stuff they post. It would make these dialogues a lot more productive. BTW, I'm referring to the video ELIB posted. The one posted in the article is pretty much useless since you can't even tell who said what.

*momof5* --- 1 years ago -

That's not to say he shouldn't listen to opposing viewpoints, but that's exactly what he was doing. He was listening and ATTEMPTING to answer their questions. I really wish people would actually watch some of the stuff they post. It would make these dialogues a lot more productive. I absolutely agree. The guy trying to argue with Frank regarding healthcare, is bringing up the mortgage crisis! WTH does that have to do with healthcare?? When Barney explains the exact role he played in the mortgage legislation, the guy cannot disagree/argue!!! It's crazy that these people are going to these meetings, bringing everything BUT the kitchen sink with them for their angry talking points, and cannot argue when they're told the answers!!! It's sooooooo freaking bizarre to me!

whatchamacallit --- 1 years ago -

So you think that because of the sign she carried, Frank can just treat her like dirt? Absolutely. Act like an ignorant, racist redneck and expect to be treated like one. If Frank can't take the heat and still act civilized, he should resign. There is that word again...racist?!?! Did she say something I missed? Oh, I forgot, the liberal consensus is that if you don't like Obama or his policies, you must be a racist! LOL Politics is rough business. That woman is no threat especially compared to the thugs Obama is dragging in on these town hall meetings. Those with opposing views have to stand up to them, just to get in the door. She has a right to tell him how she feels and it is his job/obligation to act accordingly, not vote the way that suits HIS personal agenda but that of the majority of his consitituents. And even after that, it is till his job to listen to those that have opposing views. If my boss was in my face, screaming and hollering and being disruptive to my day, you bet your arse I'd tell him. Sure and then he would fire you!

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 1 years ago -

Sure and then he would fire you! Yeah, I already responded to that too. A boss wouldn't be allowed to behave the way these people do, period.

*momof5* --- 1 years ago -

If Frank can't take the heat and still act civilized, he should resign. The man is still human. If someone is screaming in your face, you're going to react to it. The behavior going on with supposedly rational adults, is insane. How do you expect to get a decent answer from someone when you approach them in a confrontational manner and start calling them a nazi? We just had a thread about "hitting a woman" yesterday. MOST parents want their kids to fight back when they're being attacked, and admitted THEY THEMSELVES would fight back when being attacked. Why should the congressmen NOT be allowed to do that?

OH SNAP! --- 1 years ago -

If Frank can't take the heat and still act civilized, he should resign. I think he treated her question with as much respect as it deserved. And I suggest you watch the video ELIB posted. Yes, he is being plainspoken with them, but if you actually take the time to watch more than the soundbites on FOX, you will see that he was also doing his best to answer the questions that were asked of him, and doing a pretty danged good job of it. There is that word again...racist?!?! Did she say something I missed? Oh, I forgot, the liberal consensus is that if you don't like Obama or his policies, you must be a racist! LOL You must have missed the fact that Barney Frank is a Jew. OOPS! She has a right to tell him how she feels and it is his job/obligation to act accordingly, not vote the way that suits HIS personal agenda but that of the majority of his consitituents. And even after that, it is till his job to listen to those that have opposing views. She told him, and he responded. He was much more civil than I would have been, all things considered. Sure and then he would fire you! And, as I pointed out to Chunky, she is more than welcome to try.

whatchamacallit --- 1 years ago -

Yeah, I already responded to that too. A boss wouldn't be allowed to behave the way these people do, period. This is just one of the areas that really can't be compared to private sector business. If you were yelled at by your boss, you could sue for harassment or have some other recourse. In politics it is part of the package and that is all there is to it. No matter who is in power, there is always someone that doesn't agree with what they are trying to do. People have been protesting government policies in this country from the beginning and hopefully they will continue to be able to do so! Be careful what you wish on those that oppose Obama, you may be on the outside in a few years and the same restrictions placed on these folks will be used against you.

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 1 years ago -

This is just one of the areas that really can't be compared to private sector business. Which I actually said, sort of.... PutOnYourBigGirlPanties - posted 51 min ago - quote - edit Use a twisted means to tell a story and ask a question, you're bound to get twisted answers that just don't fit. OH SNAP! --- 1 years ago -

How do you expect to get a decent answer from someone when you approach them in a confrontational manner and start calling them a nazi? And just in case they try to skip past this pertinent piece of information, BARNEY FRANK IS JEWISH.

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 1 years ago -

Be careful what you wish on those that oppose Obama, you may be on the outside in a few years and the same restrictions placed on these folks will be used against you. That will be interesting.

whatchamacallit --- 1 years ago -

You must have missed the fact that Barney Frank is a Jew. OOPS! So?!?! Because she thinks that Obama is like Hilter, she is against Barney Frank because he is a Jew?!?! NOT That is a real S T R E T C H ! !

Ex-Lady In Blue --- 1 years ago -

If my boss loved abusing animals, bragged about it and showed me sick signs/pictures, I could do one of two thing; I could resign and find another humane boss, or I could try to educate him as to the error of his ways. Do you think for a minute, that while I did animal rescue that I didn't run into people that treated their pets by a lower standard than I treat mine? I would always smile, and try to make them understand the error in their thinking, but I never sat there and just went off on them. Actually, one of the directors of the rescue group I was in used to do this very thing and that is why I no longer work for that organization. I tried to explain to her that she was using a wrong approach, but she wouldn't listen. We could debate this all day, but I work for a boss that works in the world of free enterprise. My boss is NOT an elected official, and actually has to adhere to company standards. Since Congress has no standards, I guess that is the main problem. But have no fear, we are protected by free speech, unlike my free enterprise job that has rules and regulations that I must adhere to as does my boss.

OH SNAP! --- 1 years ago -

Be careful what you wish on those that oppose Obama, you may be on the outside in a few years and the same restrictions placed on these folks will be used against you. Please explain to me what restrictions were placed on her. And, again, his job is to represent the views of the democratic party, the people who elected him into office. Chunky referring to his constituents as his "boss" isn't entirely accurate.

*momof5* --- 1 years ago -

Be careful what you wish on those that oppose Obama, you may be on the outside in a few years and the same restrictions placed on these folks will be used against you.  Like I've said a BAZILLION times...I didn't like Bush, especially after his 2nd term and I NEVER behaved the way these folks are behaving. These are not special interest groups or extremists, these are every day people believing in nonsense propaganda and WANTING to be angry, period. It has nothing to do with healthcare and everything to do with Obama as President.

PutOnYourBigGirlPanties --- 1 years ago -

We could debate this all day, but I work for a boss that works in the world of free enterprise. My boss is NOT an elected official, and actually has to adhere to company standards. Since Congress has no standards, I guess that is the main problem. But have no fear, we are protected by free speech, unlike my free enterprise job that has rules and regulations that I must adhere to as does my boss. But WE didn't make the comparison to a "real job" and an elected official....Chunky did. Therefore I say again, ask a twisted question and you'll get twisted answers that don't fit.

Ex-Lady In Blue --- 1 years ago -

If Frank can't take the heat and still act civilized, he should resign. The man is still human. If someone is screaming in your face, you're going to react to it. The behavior going on with supposedly rational adults, is insane. How many times have you said on KU that a police officer is not entitled to have feelings enter into his/her job? Remember??? They're supposed to be trained (and you make it seem like they're supposed to be robots). But Barney is exempt from that? REALLY??? Sounds like a double standard to me, but I expect nothing less from you.

*momof5* --- 1 years ago -

Do you think for a minute, that while I did animal rescue that I didn't run into people that treated their pets by a lower standard than I treat mine? I would always smile, and try to make them understand the error in their thinking, but I never sat there and just went off on them. Actually, one of the directors of the rescue group I was in used to do this very thing and that is why I no longer work for that organization. I tried to explain to her that she was using a wrong approach, but she wouldn't listen. So based on this response, you must disagree with the tactics being used at these town hall meetings by the constituents. They aren't willing to participate in a back and forth dialogue, they're interested in being angry. How can anyone expect to get any sort of answers in that manner?

*momof5* --- 1 years ago -

How many times have you said on KU that a police officer is not entitled to have feelings enter into his/her job? Remember??? They're supposed to be trained (and you make it seem like they're supposed to be robots). But Barney is exempt from that? REALLY??? You're going to compare a screaming mob holding hitler signs to a confrontation with an officer where he unloads his weapon on an unarmed person??? Seriously? How do these situations even compare? I guess I wouldn't expect anything less from you. You think homosexuals and Christians are comparable too.

whatchamacallit --- 1 years ago -

Please explain to me what restrictions were placed on her. None, other than being demonized by the media and liberals in general. But, you all seem to think that is not enough and that SOMETHING needs to be done about "these people" that don't agree with you! You tell me what that means? I see no other way of shutting them up, other than barring them from these meetings or taking away their right to speak or protest. And that should bother EVEN YOU!
