Does anyone know anything about the hosue in Forest cove on Walnut street? I have been thinking lately that maybe this person has a mental health issue or substance abuse problem. I have seen her driving her cream colored late model mustang around and buying Beer at jacks in Forest Cove. She seems ok but have you seen her house. Every evening that I drive by there is a light on in the house but I also see a blanket set up on the back lawn and she is often out there lying on it with her beer and a book. I was just wondering if she needed some help. Isn't there a social services type organization we can call for older people. It can't be healthy living with a hole in your roof and mold everywhere. I don't want to put myself in danger by approaching her in case she is mentally ill or has a gun but I can't stand to see her living that way either. I feel the community should do something to help her.

Might check into Adult Protective Services

Diamom --- 14 years ago -

there is a previous thread on this

I would to find a way to help her

I knew there had to be some organization that I could call.

I have seen her many times... it started out as a joke and my husband tailing her to see who she was and what she was doing. She didn't appear to be mentally ill when in Jacks.

on the other side of the street there is another house where the lawn has really became overgrown. The house looks good but the yard is(was) pretty bad for many weeks. Dont know about this week.. The house you are talking about does look as if it has gotten worse. The yard looks to be kept up..go figure?? Hope the owners or people who live in both houses are ok.:(

Most of the older homes in that neighborhood are considered "tear downs". Have two friends on that street. One sold her home for a nice amount and the buyers planned to tear down and build a new bigger home. The other friend is elderly and does the minimum to keep her house up. Still very nice but she said that the land is worth more than the house. When Ike came thru she needed a new roof but she opted to repair it only as she is planning to sell and go into a retirement home soon. Maybe that lady is doing the same.

I saw a Northwoods pool truck in the drive....Ike did the damage and not sure what we can do, she at least use to have a tarp over the HUGE hole in her roof, but the last several months she has nothing....she works for continental, not sure if she would accept help but she needs it....

marthas attic (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

From what I have heard she has a alcohol problem and she has refused help from neighbors.

fishlady --- 14 years ago -

Well you can't help someone who won't help themselves....

karenact --- 14 years ago -

no but if she is an addict that is an illness. I will pray for her and see about adult child protective services or something. I will do a little research about who would be best to call. May God bless her.

Fallon --- 14 years ago -

I wonder about that house every time I drive by it.

If Ike did that damage, why didn't she make an insurance claim and repair the house?

I can't imagine anyone living in that house. A tent would have to be in better condition.

You are right Karen, God Bless her. I hope she gets the help she needs.

This lady just sold the lot. Not sure what she got for it but it was listed for $200k and I bet she got pretty close. It sold in less than a week. I know someone will build a beautiful home there now.

Walker Bait --- 10 years ago -

I hope so, that lot has looked bad for awhile. Now hopefully the lady that sold it will be in a real house soon and not the garage.

FANCY PANTS --- 10 years ago -

Was the property sold because the lady passed away? Maybe it is her kids who sold. I hope she has not passed away and that she has finally decided it to be in her best interest to sell and move into a home.
