It is a PBS Masterpiece Series, the original is BBC. Google it and you will see that it has become a huge hit. When I was in NYC recently, they had "watch parties" at different restaurants and bars. I don't watch much TV..but if more TV was like this, I would.
You can watch all of last season and the shows that have already been on for this season at their website.
I love it. It's well written and it keeps you wanting to come back for more. The house is amazing. Apparently, it's caused an uptick in tourism to England. Group tours are already full for the year although you can still go in as an individual.
I am in love with the kitchen..I would snitch the beautiful vintage copper pots and molds if I got within a hundred feet of it.
I also love the maids bells that they show in the intro and through the episodes. I visited a manor home in Ireland that had those same bells. It is that attention to detail that makes it visually so beautiful.
She is just a silly little girl, taken by this lilpunk trying to ruin her life.
hmmm. I don't agree but I see what you're saying. I think she doesn't fit into the super fancy lifestyle. She wants to go out into the world and get her hands dirty and it's the classic forbidden love story!
I was peeved when her sisters stopped her from getting married!

It's actually not a BBC program, but made by ITV, a different UK channel. My brother sent me over recordings of the second season so I've watched them all - even the Christmas Day special which I think will be shown as the last episode in season 2 here. Here's a link to the ITV Downton Abbey website for extra info!!!
Basher I am impressed....it took me two! My son is a history major and he is hooked. He watched it a on the net, even the Christmas special. Remarked about the fact it's historically accurate (except for the fact that the workers woud have been greatly OVERWORKED)
