I love this show!!! On a recent flight I downloaded last season on my Kindle Fire so I could get caught up. My sons got me started watching this season and now I am one of the many DA addicts.

Who else is hooked?

Mabs --- 2 years ago -

I'm hooked. But I haven't started the next season yet. LOVE it.

Mabs --- 2 years ago -

LOL! But those are a given. Dh and I were laughing yesterday at some segue about 'healthy super bowl foods.' We're like sorry, men don't want that shiitake, they want man food.

I'll settle for some Downton and cuke sammis.

What is downtown Abbey?

What is downtown Abbey?

It is a PBS Masterpiece Series, the original is BBC. Google it and you will see that it has become a huge hit. When I was in NYC recently, they had "watch parties" at different restaurants and bars. I don't watch much TV..but if more TV was like this, I would.

You can watch all of last season and the shows that have already been on for this season at their website.

Downton Abbey

Tannhauser --- 2 years ago -

I love it as well.
Strangly, I landed on it flipping around and somehow I got sucked in.

mimito3 --- 2 years ago -

Love it! To make it even better, just heard yesterday that they've signed Shirley MacLaine to play Lady Cora's American mother. Can't wait to see what happens when she arrives at the estate.

planemom --- 2 years ago -

I love it. It's well written and it keeps you wanting to come back for more. The house is amazing. Apparently, it's caused an uptick in tourism to England. Group tours are already full for the year although you can still go in as an individual.

Freckles00 --- 2 years ago -

I love this show! Love love love!

ghostpost --- 2 years ago -

The house is amazing.

I am in love with the kitchen..I would snitch the beautiful vintage copper pots and molds if I got within a hundred feet of it.

I also love the maids bells that they show in the intro and through the episodes. I visited a manor home in Ireland that had those same bells. It is that attention to detail that makes it visually so beautiful.

You can download "Downton Abbey, A House in History" on Amazon for a background look at the manor.

I just hate that lil punk chauffer. He need to leave that poor girl alone!

I'm probably not caught up but I thought they were in love! Did he do something to her?

Tannhauser --- 2 years ago -

She is just a silly little girl, taken by this lilpunk trying to ruin her life.

And he is (Spoiler Alert) some kind of early 20th century Occupy boob, refusing to enlist, praising the glorious Russian revolution and trying to embarass a British General.

hmmm. I don't agree but I see what you're saying. I think she doesn't fit into the super fancy lifestyle. She wants to go out into the world and get her hands dirty and it's the classic forbidden love story!

I was peeved when her sisters stopped her from getting married!

AFWife --- 2 years ago -

LOVE IT!!!

Love Granny!!

The coward who got his hand shot off needs an attitude adjustment. I hope he gets it soon.

Oh, I so agree. Along with Mr. Bates wife..I just want to slap her! She is such a witch!

Mabs --- 2 years ago -

Oh I love all the characters. Even the busybodies. I think I can relate to every single layer of attrition. :p

Rerun --- 2 years ago -

i've watched all the available episodes on netflix. i want to start watching it on tv, but i want to catch up on the episodes i've missed.

Me too, mabs. Granny gets the best lines. She reminds me so much of my late MIL.

Mabs --- 2 years ago -

She is WONDERFUL. But I love her acting anyway.

Momof3 --- 2 years ago -

It is a PBS Masterpiece Series, the original is BBC.

It's actually not a BBC program, but made by ITV, a different UK channel. My brother sent me over recordings of the second season so I've watched them all - even the Christmas Day special which I think will be shown as the last episode in season 2 here. Here's a link to the ITV Downton Abbey website for extra info!!!

Did anyone recognize the actress that plays Mr. Bates' hateful wife? She played King Henry's first wife, Queen Katherine on The Tudors (still miss it!)

Also, love the music, especially the theme song.

Rerun --- 2 years ago -

whoo hoo!! it plays for me at work!! i know what i'll be doing the rest of the week!

Mabs --- 2 years ago -

I watch stuff like this and imagine my personality having to deal with such 'trifles' and damn. I'd have had quite the reputation. :|

Basher I am impressed....it took me two! My son is a history major and he is hooked. He watched it a on the net, even the Christmas special. Remarked about the fact it's historically accurate (except for the fact that the workers woud have been greatly OVERWORKED)

I don't have time to get hooked on anything else. But this one looks GOOD and right up my alley! :D I will ask for the DVD's for my birthday if there is one. How many seasons has it been running?

Momof3 --- 2 years ago -

How many seasons has it been running?

The second season finished showing in the UK and is playing now on PBS.

Refugee --- 2 years ago -

OMG... Was just telling my BF a few minutes ago how much I loved this show, despite having missed previous episodes; if you read this post and think you'll be lost -- don't ! You will figure it out!
