That's all I'm getting- is my computer gone?

Emperor of Kingwood --- 10 years ago -

Yep, its called the blue screen of death.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

I bought it 2 yrs ago and it was over a grand- that blows-

satsuma --- 10 years ago -

the blue screen of death isn't necessarily the end.

Can you boot into safe mode?

Butterbean --- 10 years ago -

Only 2 years old? All is not lost. Try the guys at Atascocita Computers.

They may be able to help you.

What's safe mode?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

All I can do. Is move the arrow around-

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

Where is the computer place?

satsuma --- 10 years ago -

It depends on the computer but you can usually hit f8 or f10 when you first see the manufacturer startup screen (there should be text at that bottom that says something like "hit f8 for boot menu options".

that should take you into safe mode. it has limited functionality. You can also boot into "safemode w/networking" that will let you access the internet.

Once in safe mode back up your files to a usb drive or something.

Usually good to run CCleaner to clean the system, check for any uninstallable programs you didn't know you might have downloaded, and then scan/fix the registry.

Then Run your Avast Anti-virus scanner.

That might not solve the problem, but it's a start.

after that you could try a system restore.

If that doesn't work, you can always reinstall windows.

if you can't boot into safe mode take it to a pro.

jacobson --- 10 years ago -

Sometimes just booting into safe mode and then restarting the computer will fix the problem.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

That's what I'll have to do- ugh-

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 10 years ago -

Wouldn't go in to safe mode-

Wouldn't go in to safe mode-

lo siento senora.

Wouldn't go in to safe mode-

How many times did you try? If you have a fast booting machine, it may take several tries. When you start it up, repeatedly hit the F8 key.

Get a Mac

bah.

never owned any apple product over here, and never felt the lack... if anything, it's always seemed like I have had more disposable income.
;)

Honestly, things have come far enough that I may switch my next home pc to Linux.
