Just wanted to add my 2 cents.

We had this happen two weekends in a row recently late at night.

The first time it happened I wasn't aware because I had to make a late night run to the grocery store so I missed it. The second time it happened it totally freaked me out. It was well after 11:00 p.m. and my dh was out of town. The thing is my daughter has a stalker ex-boyfriend and my first thought/fear is that it was him. 

Wow. That's scary. Don't ever open the door! Or get a gun! 

How do you know it wasn't him? 

We used to ding dong ditch all the time growing up. It's what kids do.

We should be glad the kids are outside running around and getting into mild trouble (as kids are certainly SUPPOSED to do) instead of sitting around on video games, right? 

This might make sense while using yalls politically correct terminology.

We were "ding dong ditched" several weeks ago by an actual "ding dong". Nearly caught the bastard but that "ding dong" was fast!

It was called Ni*ger knocking when I was growing up in Kingwood.

And, no Slider, it's not illegal for minors unless you file a complaint (knowing who did it) and he or she does it again after his/her parents being served with harassment charges. 

After my nerves settled a bit I walked outside from the back of my house and peaked around the front corner.

I live close to an elementary school and I could see at least two kids on the playground. They took off running and I thought maybe they had seen me and were leaving. But no, they were just jumping the fence and crossing the street to ring more door bells and then going back to the playground. They looked like middle school aged kids. 

Has it been 48 hours yet? I 've heard that the chances of solving a ding dong ditch go down dramatically after the first 48 hours.
