Deputy Goforth was in this last issue of People magazine, in the "Passages" page- for some reason, it seemed comforting the he's become a symbol of the unnecessary loss of policemen's lives.

Goforth didn't deserve to die. His children didn't deserve to have their father taken from them.

I want to make it absolutely clear that his death was vile, disgusting, tragic, unnecessary and I hope his killer meets the full brunt of the law.

There is no room for senseless killings.

Of anyone.

I just wish when cops kill, senselessly, the same community support for the deceased was present.

We might see a different community if killers, regardless of their profession, were held accountable.

Ashley28 --- 9 years ago -

Yes. God bless him and his family.

The same community support is likely when the community agrees on which killings are senseless and which are negligent.

What's an example of a recent killing by a cop that was equally senseless as this premeditated murder of this officer that did not generate sufficient community support for the victim's family?

Well, I was with you until I got to this part of your post.

Officer Goforth was assassinated and brutally executed from behind in cold blood simply because of the color of his uniform and what it represented.

Name one instance when an LEO did something cowardly like this to a bad guy and wasn't held accountable for his actions (if there is such a instance).

Officer Goforth wasn't a thug, he wasn't a thief, he wasn't some wanna-be gang-banger robbing innocent people at gunpoint in the middle of the night, or crashing a stolen car into a business to steal the ATM machine.

He was simply a law abiding family man trying to carve out a living in a world (that we as average citizens don't see) and support his family doing what he believed was his calling.

Blue Lives Matter ...

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

Yes, they do.

Well said Exclipse!

Gotta love JAMS veiled attempt to defend the BLM message.

Gotta love JAMS veiled attempt to defend the BLM message.?

I'm attempting to defend the message that ALL lives matter; do they not?
After all, I was pretty clear on my message about Goforth's senseless murder - were the words I used too big for you?

Or...would you say that SOME lives matter more/less?

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

All lives matter.

They do. But try telling the BLM movement that.

They'll shut you down.

a889324uu --- 9 years ago -

All lives matter.?

Agreed.

And in addition to all lives mattering, the lives of their families matter too.

I feel great grief for Goforth's children, especially.

It's one thing to die in a bad call/accident, but to die pumping gas is incredibly difficult to swallow.

Until your "but......" statement.

You tried to equate Officer Goforth's execution with supposed violence that was caused on the community by other officers.

As though it were a "tit-for-tat" scenario.

IT DOESN"T EXIST.

a889324uu --- 9 years ago -

Except there wasn't a "but" statement.

Read the last line of my post - several times if necessary.

All violence and death is wrong. ALL.
(edited to add: senseless death)

Eclipse*** oops, don't know how it corrected to Exclipse?? Lol

Slider152 --- 9 years ago -

I don't care what color your skin is... If you've either chosen to steal from or harm someone... Your life matters less...
I don't have a problem with anyone due to their race, but I will discriminate against them based on their behavior.

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

I have to agree with that-

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Very well said, Slider.

I agree. The funeral was so sad.
