I've been watching. She's walking around alot tonight. I wonder how many more days she can go.

TinktheSprite --- 8 years ago -

She's getting fed by hand right now! So cool! Go see it!

TinktheSprite --- 8 years ago -

I just popped in to watch. And I swear for a moment, April assumed the Labor Position, back legs apart, tail in the air! She stayed that way for 30 secs.

*LOL* --- 8 years ago -

She is a beautiful animal.

That is too cool! I can't imagine dropping a newborn 6 feet to the ground! No problemo!! Mother Nature, gotta love her. It's fascinating.

TinktheSprite --- 8 years ago -

They drop that far so that the umbilical cord breaks. The impact of the fall also helps get the calf to breathe. Sort of like a swat on the butt. People watching are learning all kinds of giraffe trivia like that. the newborn will average 6 feet tall and 150 lbs. They come out hooves first, then head, like a swan dive.

I was 2 weeks late with my second baby. I was a wide as I was tall with "baby" showing on every part of my body. I had swollen legs looking like a piano and I couldn't fit into any shoes OR clothes. Been watching April for a calf since 24 Feb. She doesn't seem phased. Her belly is really BIG!

StopItNow --- 8 years ago -

She had it.

Gigix4 --- 8 years ago -
