What ideas do people have that could prevent shootings?

Souperman, who is a lifetime NRA member and one of the most vocal here at KU has offered up this so far:

Souperman --- 58 sec ago - quote - hide comments
There is no gun control measure short of total confiscation that would have prevented this attack.?

It looks like the NRA crowd thinks the ONLY way to stop attacks it total confiscation

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Souperman, who is a lifetime NRA member

And you're a lifetime member of the KKK.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

It looks like the NRA crowd thinks the ONLY way to stop attacks it total confiscation

Once again, and for the umptenth time....

What is your solution that would have stopped the SB attack?

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Bueller......... Bueller...

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

If they stopped manufacturing and selling civilian weapons of war, would they have been able to legally purchase the two rifles they had in a store?

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

Is it easier for a suspected terrorist to:
A) buy a plane ticket, or
B) buy a gun?

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

If they stopped manufacturing and selling civilian weapons of war, would they have been able to legally purchase the two rifles they had in a store?

Under that guise. You gun grabbers would describe ANY gun as a civilian weapon of war.

Do you not think they would have just gotten other guns if they couldn't have gotten those?

How naive.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Explain how this shooting was the fault of the NRA? As you have proclaimed earlier.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

It's funny, fuzzy.

You can never seem to answer the questions that have the obvious answers that don't fit your narrative.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

Because the NRA ensures there is no research, discussion, or legislation of gun control. They ensure government does nothing, allowing terrorists to walk into Walmart and walk out with a gun. All in the name of maximizing profits for the corporations they represent.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Like this one:

If the SB shooters had not been able to obtain the "civilian weapons of war" that they did.

Do you think they would have just given up and went home?

Or would they have obtained the weapons they were legally able to obtain? You know the "non-civilian weapons of war".

Nevermind the fact that they had PIPE BOMBS, and bomb making material.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Because the NRA ensures there is no research, discussion, or legislation of gun control.

How would that have stopped the SB shootings?

(another question you'll fail to answer)

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

They ensure government does nothing, allowing terrorists to walk into Walmart and walk out with a gun.

How do you propose they make sure this doesn't happen? Profiling?

Because according to folks on the left. Profiling is RACIST

(another question you'll fail to answer)

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

So many questions. So few answers from fuzzy.

Just regurgitated talking points.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

Nevermind the fact that they had PIPE BOMBS, and bomb making material.?

You mean the decoy, and the ones that failed to work? Should we sell highly reliable, expert engineered bombs at Walmart too?

DatBoyHooD --- 9 years ago -

So Walmart doesn't do federal background checks?

Pixtor --- 9 years ago -

... would they have been able to legally purchase the two rifles they had in a store?

The Associated Press is now reporting that those guns may have been illegally purchased by Enrique Marquez, a 3rd party guy, in an illegal straw purchase 3 years ago and he "gave" them to the terrorists.

Since the shootings, Marquez has checked himself into a mental institution and the FBI is conducting an investigation.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

You mean the decoy, and the ones that failed to work?

Failed to work. LOL.........

They had PIPE BOMBS and bomb making material.

Whether or not they worked is irrelevant.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

So Walmart doesn't do federal background checks?

No. They do.

Fuzzy is just reaching........ AGAIN.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

What's wrong, fuzzy?

Can't find the answer to any of those questions?

Just keep blaming the NRA.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

Marquez did purchase them legally, according to the ATF.

Meredith Davis, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said that while the weapons were purchased legally, they had undergone a number of illegal adjustments afterwards.

One of the weapons had been modified to allow it to fire on fully-automatic mode, while the other was fitted with a large magazine and had the 'bullet button' removed to allow for quicker reloading.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Maybe they should have made a law against doing that. Would have stopped this shooting right in it's tracks.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

They had PIPE BOMBS and bomb making material.

Whether or not they worked is irrelevant

So there shouldn't be a law against them, and we should sell them at Walmart?

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

So there shouldn't be a law against them, and we should sell them at Walmart?

There is a law against them.

Is the NRA to blame for them having pipe bombs too?

I think you completely miss the point.

No gun law was going to prevent these Islamic jihadist terrorists from doing what they did.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

Their bombs failed, because duh. It's not easy to acquire a reliable bomb. Because they don't mass manufacture them and sell them at Walmart.

That means their only option was to cobble together their own bombs, and they failed. Because duh, the guy wasn't smart enough to make one work reliably.

DatBoyHooD --- 9 years ago -

Fuzz when did Walmart stop doing background checks

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

But your right, the laws against manufacturing and selling pipe bombs had NOTHING to do with it. Would have been the same outcome if they could have just browsed the bomb isle at their local walmart

jacobson --- 9 years ago -

As long as there are people who don't walk with God, there will be killings.

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

I never claimed Walmart didn't do background checks. Stop making idiotic arguments.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Their bombs failed, because duh. It's not easy to acquire a reliable bomb. Because they don't mass manufacture them and sell them at Walmart.

Who said their bombs failed?

They weren't acquired. They built them.

DatBoyHooD --- 9 years ago -

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

As long as there are people who don't walk with God, there will be killings.?

Yeah, ok. And how do you do that? Good luck.

DatBoyHooD --- 9 years ago -

You absolutely did

allowing terrorists to walk into Walmart and walk out with a gun

jacobson --- 9 years ago -

And how do you do that?

LOL, how do I do what?

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

Who said their bombs failed?

They weren't acquired. They built them.?

The cops said their bombs failed. Did you see any reports of an explosion? There was a bomb on a remote controlled car, with a remote detonator in their SUV. It failed to detonate.

Yes, they built them because laws prevented them from simply acquiring one. Get the point?

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

allowing terrorists to walk into Walmart and walk out with a gun

Where did I say that? A suspected terrorist on the no fly list passes a "background check". So yes, they can buy a gun at Walmart.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

The cops said their bombs failed. Did you see any reports of an explosion? There was a bomb on a remote controlled car, with a remote detonator in their SUV. It failed to detonate.

That doesn't mean the failed to detonate.

That just means they probably didn't TRY to detonate them.

DatBoyHooD --- 9 years ago -

33 minutes ago fuzz.. You don't remember your comments

fuzz81 --- 9 years ago -

That just means they probably didn't TRY to detonate them.?

Yeah, ok. Time for your meds? You think they went through the trouble of going to those lengths to build it, deploy it, shoot 30+ people, and then just decided NOT to push the button? Sure thing bro.

SoupIsGoodFood --- 9 years ago -

Yes, they built them because laws prevented them from simply acquiring one. Get the point?

They still were able to MAKE the bombs. Regardless of the law against it.

Get the point?
