Been up since about 1:30 because of all the thunder and lightening. Some of those hits shook the whole house. Thank goodness we still have power.

If you HAVE to go out, be safe.

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

Unreal. Reminds me of Allison.

Gigix4 --- 9 years ago -

We had a little hail overnight as well, some pea size, some about nickle size.

My rain gauge is full - holds about 5.5".

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

The end of my street is flooded. I'm glad I have no where to go today.

Dorothy Parker --- 9 years ago -

No power here, schools are cancelled, people are stranded in different areas of Houston, airport is shut down...scary stuff!

Froggie --- 9 years ago -

This is so crazy!!! I heard the entrance to our subdivision (Tavola in New Caney) is being blocked off by police because of high water.

VERY scary stuff!!

Gigix4 --- 9 years ago -

Transformers are starting some loud humming around BBV.

Dorothy Parker --- 9 years ago -

My power just came back on! Yay!!

Gigix4 --- 9 years ago -

^^^ Good for you! Still have power here and hopefully it stays on.

a889324uu --- 9 years ago -

I now don't mind that our house is up on a little hill. Houses around us are flooding.

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

There is a dark object at the bottom of my pool. Can't tell what it is because of the rain. I hope it is a tree branch or at least something that did not used to be alive.

Rubicon --- 9 years ago -

DS made a high water rescue this morning. A friend was stalled in high water on Woodland Hills. He pulled her out and towed her back to her house. I'm guessing her car is totaled. Wish he had taken photos! There were a lot of stalled cars in high water out there.

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

I looked at pictures of Northpark on FB, and I have decided that we are trapped like rats with no way out of Kingwood, the Livable Forest.

Rubicon --- 9 years ago -

Time to pull out the rafts!

Gigix4 --- 9 years ago -

just curious ... what part of Woodland Hills was covered with high water?

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

Down the street from my house. Corner of Round Spring and Lake Hills Dr. (I think that is the name of the road)

Gigix4 --- 9 years ago -

So, between North Park and Kingwood Dr.?

Dobby --- 9 years ago -

The new clearing and building in the area is having an impact. We better have flood insurance.

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

Yep. The high water is always a problem there in a flash flood. My sil did some minor damage to his car back on the Memorial Day flash flood.

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

I guess my yard guy is not coming today. lol

Gigix4 --- 9 years ago -

I guess my yard guy is not coming today.

My guess is ... NO! :)

AwesomeTattooedDragon --- 9 years ago -

I left my phone in the bedroom last night- bad idea- it went off with alerts all night, 'til I finally got up and found it, and turned it off- next time, I'll do it after the first warning! For the first time, the lightning was so frequent that the room lit up like a light was on!

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

"I guess my yard guy isnt coming today. lol"

Not unless he has a kayak. Lol

TinktheSprite --- 9 years ago -

Went to bed at midnight. Woke up at noon. Slept through it all! Watching the news. People were woken up by water lapping around them. I sleep so hard i wonder if that would wake me?

I heard some loud thunder, but I like thunder and lightening. I did sleep totally through Ike, which had no thunder or lightening, just wind.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 9 years ago -

I slept through it too! Its highly unusual for me PLUS i had like 3 cat naps yesterday, but i wont look a gift horse in the mouth!

Gigix4 --- 9 years ago -

I think I am still just running on Adrenalin. I bet I'm in bed by 8:00 tonight to make up for the loss from 1:30 this morning.

Current concern: Can I make it to Los Cucos for a couple of Happy Hour $1.99 margaritas? hehe ... bet I can and still be home to be in bed real early!

Rubicon --- 9 years ago -

North Park is closed at Glade Valley - still. That's by the Starbucks past the Walmart Neighborhood Market BTW.

don't go! make your own!! or ask Grub Hub is they deliver margaritas!

80Vette --- 9 years ago -

Northpark is closed at Glade Hill heading west? What is it like coming in and heading east?

TinktheSprite --- 9 years ago -

When the kids were little, I worried I would sleep through their cries and needs. I know I feel safe in our home during storms and possible flooding which is my subconscious reason for sleeping through rain storms, I guess? Or maybe I just sleep like a log? We are on a hill. And in the 30+ years of living here, I have observed rains, tornadoes, hurricanes etc and surveyed our property during times of high waters. The bayou near us rises and over flows away from our house. Despite the fact FEMA requires flood insurance, we are on high ground and have never flooded or come anywhere near to having high water in or near our home. I'm not bragging. But it affords me a good night's sleep. Re: Margaritias. I am well-stocked at home. I would never take the chance of being without! :)

I guess April Showers bring May Flowers, and this april should bring some beautiful ones!!

3rd generation hippie --- 9 years ago -

All the flowers bloomed in March this year. The blooming is over. That's what I was told anyway.

Your yard man?

mutton --- 9 years ago -

Or Cabana boy?

.Your yard man?

It was a tree branch from my neighbors tree.

That is my story and I'm sticking to it....

"ALL" of them?? No way blooming is over with! My daylilies are budding and loving the rain, as are the Angel's Trumpet trees. I have Asiatic and Easter Lilies in bud and euyops bushes. And still have amaryllis that are blooming. The ruellia, both pink and blue have flowers on them. No doubt rain will bring them forth. The portulaca and bougainvilla love this and can't wait for the heat to burst out in color. Heck, no! I am expecting a yard full of flowers after this kind of rain!

RedMulch --- 9 years ago -

as are the Angel's Trumpet trees.

I want to plant these. I love them. Tell me how to do that and care for them.

I am not a green thumb, but I love these plants.

TinktheSprite --- 9 years ago -

Angel's Trumpet/brugmansia love morning sun. These little trees love to eat (fertilizer)every 2 weeks during bloom time, and some, not a lot of water. In fuller sun, they will wilt in the heat. They come in pink, yellow, and orange in both single and double blossoms.
there is also a variegated leaf variety. Not to be confused with the Devil's Trumpet/datura/Jimsonweed which is a bush with similar trumpet flowers that point upward.

You might lose them in the winter, but they will bounce back again in the spring. With mild winters like the last one we had, they bloom early. Otherwise they will bloom for you summer through fall. You can pot them up instead and place them in a frost free place instead if you don't want to lose them in the winter.

Roots easily from cuttings or buy the trees in pots.
