RW19 --- 15 years ago -

They ripped 2 of my shirts and they fixed one, but the other one wasn't repairable. I told them I'd like to get reimbursed for it. Steve said they weren't going to. I told him it came in with fine and I got it with 3 rips in it. He said that was from normal wear and tear but the shirt was only 2 months old. After going back and forth, he actually threatened to take me to small claims court over this. He then finally said he'd pay me for the shirt as long as I NEVER came back to his store again. I told him I'd be in in the morning to get the check for my shirt and he conveniently not there. He called me after he got back and made more excuses as to why the shirt tore. He told me once again he NEVER wanted me as a customer. Not once did he ever apologize for wripping two of my shirts. I told him I was going to take my business to X cleaners and he began to bash them. This guy is a real class act. He's got horrible customer service. Beware if you ever have anything damaged by them, it's like pulling teeth to get any apology let alone them to pay for the garment if it's ruined.

never heard of this place -- where are they?

RW19 --- 15 years ago -

on w lake houston and kings crossing. Trust me, you don't want to take your clothes there.

terry --- 15 years ago -

Thanks for the info...Why can't people just be honest and do good business???

susie q --- 15 years ago -

Is that the one across from Ryan's or the one by La Madeliene?

Rachelagain --- 15 years ago -

I take my clothes there weekly and Steve is always personable and kind. Never had a garment returned damaged.

The girls at the drive thru know me by name and some even know my phone number.

I take my clothes there because of their customer service and the fact that they iron things properly so I don't have double creases.

It's across from Ryan's.

We have used the MW cleaners..great work!

chappers --- 15 years ago -

I also use Market Cleaners and have never had an issue, good customer service and clothes done right!

So sorry to hear that you had a negative experience, RW19.

NewMommy --- 15 years ago -

We used that cleaners for about 2 years. We don't anymore because we kept getting dbl creases and a few items were returned to us w/ weird spots. I questioned the spots and got different answers. I use someone else now and don't have any problems.

Eliza2 --- 15 years ago -

fabrics do shred from the chemicals used in "dry cleaning"-it is actually a very harsh product for fabrics, still, they should have treated you better

Polly Ester --- 15 years ago -

We have used the MW cleaners..great work!

I go to MW also. I have never been to Market Cleaners, so can't say one way or another..but MW takes my coupons and do a good job.

AuthorMan --- 15 years ago -

We have used Market Cleaners for years- never a problem and always treated with respect. They even give Bernie and Belle an occasional treat! :-)

RH --- 15 years ago -

I'm sorry you think you had a bad experience with this cleaner. I had a great experience with them recently. They stood behind their work, and fixed the problem without any questions. In fact, they paid for an entire dress. I'd hate for this business to loose customers due to one bad experience. My husband used to bring his shirts to other cleaners. After several cleanings, the shirts would rip. The chemicals are very harsh. We used to question the rips, but after several ruined shirts, we learned our lesson. - The shirts can only withstand cleaning so many times. He washes and irons his own shirts now.

vetrncwby --- 15 years ago -

Oh how I have been waiting for this! Now here is the real story. This guy calls us and tells us we tore his shirt. We told him we could fix it and it would look fine. Without even giving us a chance he insist we buy him a new shirt. We fix the shirt and it is good as new except the shirt is actually worn out (discolored underarms, fraying cuffs etc.) Then he calls the next day screaming at my counter manager (not exaggerating)that we ripped another shirt in the same place. My counter manager refused to talk to him because of his screaming and yelling. So I get on the phone and he starts yelling at me. Now I don't know about anybody else but when someone talks to me in that tone things may not go in their favor. I can say for a fact that we at Market Cleaners take care of our customers but when that customers acts like a 12 year old we might not. So anyway I paid for the other shirt just to satisfy him. Now if he would have called us and spoke calmly I would have taken care of the torn shirts without a problem. Just like we did for RH. In response to my bashing the competition, it never happened. He likes to twist my words around in his favor. I also wasn't there when he picked up the check because I was in a meeting and he neglected to tell me what time he was coming. In conclusion, all Dry Cleaners have unhappy customers but we do our very best to make things right. Sometimes we can't make a customer happy no matter what and sometime its maybe because they need to go to anger management class.

I just knew there was another side to the story.

AlphabetSoup --- 15 years ago -

vetrncwby,

how long have you been there b/c I had a horrible experience with market cleaners several years ago with torn itmes and terrible customer service. Never once did you or whomever was in charge at the time ever apologize. To me it sounds like you don't care about your customers and that is why I have not been back.

vetrncwby --- 15 years ago -

Robin,
We bend over backwards for our customers. I don't know your circumstances so I can't comment on your situation. I also don't know who assisted you with your problem. But like I said, we try but can't always make everyone happy.

AlphabetSoup --- 15 years ago -

well, let me just say it happend about 4 years ago and while I don't remember the details I do remember that no one cared and certainly made NO effort to try to make me happy. My experience with Market Cleaners left me felling like they could care less about their customers b/c there are always other ones. Like I said there was never any apology.

vetrncwby --- 15 years ago -

Robin,
Well allow me to apologize and say that a lot has changed at Market Cleaners in the last 4 years.

dclady --- 15 years ago -

I happen to work at Market Cleaners and we have the best customer service ever!It really upsets me that we did what he wanted and he still complained about it. We value our customers, futhermore let me say that we think of our customers as more than just a customer.

Fallon --- 15 years ago -

I have used Market Cleaners for over 5 years. NEVER have we had a shirt torn. You have to understand, I take in about $30 worth of dry cleaning weekly. And dh does have some frayed shirts. Some are even torn, before I take them in. And they always call to tell me. I told them I knew it before I took them in, and it was fine.

I know Steve, and sorry but I can't see him yelling at anyone, let alone bashing another business. He just flat out does not do things like this. Ever. And I have known him for a lot of years as well.

Never had anything but excellent customer service there either. They know my name, and my vehicle when I go thru the drive thru. They always have my ticket ready.

Sorry your experience was not good. But good luck with any dry cleaner bending over backwards for you in Kingwood. I have tried them all, because we use dry cleaning a LOT. That is why I always recommend Market Center. I have tried the others, and ended up with buttons torn, shirts torn, rude service, etc. I was thrilled when I found Market Center and haven't had a problem with them yet.

One cleaner which I will not name completely ruined my dh's suit. Burned holes in it! They refused to even fix it. Another one, very close to Market Center is at minimum 3x's the cost. I can go on and on.

Market Center will continue to have my business.

Cajunmom --- 15 years ago -

I've been going to Market Cleaners for probably 6 years. Never had a problem with them at all.

Tipsyhic --- 15 years ago -

Were the shirts from the Mens Warehouse??

RW19 --- 14 years ago -

The original shirt that was repaired did not even make it through the work day. My wife called and spoke to Steve and he went ahead and cut a check for a new shirt since it could not be repaired. We were pleasantly surprised that it was resolved quickly and easily.
