voice of reason --- 13 years ago -

that means you, me AND THE GOVERNMENT! they aren't above the law.

end the death penalty NOW!

PHSSPARTANMOM --- 13 years ago -

I am going to agree with you.. Troy Davis is set to die by injection in Georgia... I have read his story and I am overcome with Tears...

So sad... I somehow feel this will not end well and a innocent man will die.

Dr Aborto --- 13 years ago -

I think this is the one issue we disagree with VOR. But it's cool.

LiveFreeOrDie --- 13 years ago -

Genesis 9:6

6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man,

by man shall his blood be shed,

for God made man in his own image.

Dr Aborto --- 13 years ago -

Genesis 9:6...

What does that mean?

LiveFreeOrDie --- 13 years ago -

It means if you take a life your life will be taken, it also means capital punishment was instituted by God.

Dr Aborto --- 13 years ago -

It means if you take a life your life will be taken, it also means capital punishment was instituted by God.

Gotcha

JohnLynch --- 13 years ago -

that means you, me AND THE GOVERNMENT! they aren't above the law.

the REAL meaning of that commandment is...thou shalt not MURDER

as LFOD said...God instituted capital punishment

voice of reason --- 13 years ago -

it also means capital punishment was instituted by God.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

JohnLynch --- 13 years ago -

notice how some people only want to believe the parts of the Bible that are convenient for their mindset

Donkey Hodie --- 13 years ago -

the REAL meaning of that commandment is...thou shalt not MURDER

Where is your literal reading of the Bible now?

voice of reason --- 13 years ago -

notice how some people only want to believe the parts of the Bible that are convenient for their mindset

wrong! i don't want to believe any of it. you must be referring to YOURSELF.
it is a bunch of fairy tales made up by humans.

good point, donkey. MURDER? lolololol it says KILL!

locking to end the usual douchery

voice of reason --- 13 years ago -

that means you, me AND THE GOVERNMENT! they aren't above the law.

end the death penalty NOW!

i realize that due to me stating 'though shalt not kill' it invited this thread to be hijacked by all the holy rollers as usual. was not my intent.

i stated in my first post 'THE LAW' because that was my point. the judicial branch is not about the law set by the legislative branch. if i can't kill and you can't kill, the goverments can't kill either!!!!!

voice of reason --- 13 years ago -

take your religion to another thread!

freebyrdII --- 13 years ago -

Then there's the guy in Huntsville tonight who dragged an innocent black man to his death.... what do you do with him?

voice of reason --- 13 years ago -

life without parole. it's cheaper to keep them plus it is more moral.

voice of reason --- 13 years ago -

huntsville is set to execute 4 humans in 8 days. disgusting and AGAINST THE LAW.

maverick --- 13 years ago -

Capital puishment is not against the law anymore than killing unborn babies is against the law. First stop killing innocent babies then we can talk about saving murderers.

Jack's Mom --- 13 years ago -

Capital puishment is not against the law anymore than killing unborn babies is against the law. First stop killing innocent babies then we can talk about saving murderers.

Well said!

OPFOR --- 13 years ago -

"life without parole. it's cheaper to keep them plus it is more moral."
Bulloney!
It's not cheaper, and we don't have the room. We don't have the room in the jails, or in society. They put themselves there. Hit the switch!

rEVOLution --- 13 years ago -

KILLING IS AGAINST THE LAW

Except in self defense
Except for police who accidentally fire their gun instead of their taser
Except in war
Except in "humanitarian aid" i.e. Libya
Except for when you are installing democracy

So really it's not against the law except for those who are considered taxpaying citizens, for everyone else it's perfectly legal.

Capital puishment is not against the law anymore than killing unborn babies is against the law. First stop killing innocent babies then we can talk about saving murderers.

I'll second that one.

Our prison system is completely screwed up and as more and more of them become privatized it's getting harder to do anything about their corruption but I certainly would be for halting the death penalty until the prison system gets their crap together and starts "rehabilitating" criminals instead of "creating even worse" criminals and releasing onto our streets.

maverick --- 13 years ago -

The death penalty is BS anyway, they sit on deathrow for years before the sentence is carried out. Give them a month to determine if an appeal is warranted, if not, string them up the next day.

sweetscreaminmonkey --- 13 years ago -

i am not against capital punishement in the least.. i did a very detailed report once in college on the costs of prisons etc.. it made me sick how much taxpayers spend on ppl when they break the law and the things they get in there.. killers took someone's life they were found gulity by a jury, give them a short time to apeal ( which to me is very generous) and then end their life.. they didnt think twice ending someone else's life why should we spend so much time protecting theirs.

gardeniagirl07 --- 13 years ago -

I'm not saying you are wrong in your beliefs, VOR, but I happen to believe in capital punishment. Felons who receive a life row on death row are normally in prison long enough to have their case appealed and retried if they are actually innocent of the crime they've been accused of commiting. My opinion is if you kill another person and you didn't do it as a measure of self defense, then you shouldn't be allowed to serve life in prison as your punishment. And I believe that those who are found innocent and are set free should be entitled to some sort of monetary compensation by the State who convicted them. There will always be exceptions to every rule. It's not that tough to abide by the laws we're all expected to obey. But to each their own.

maverick --- 13 years ago -

Not much point in executing them 15 or 20 years later.

Work in Progress --- 13 years ago -

The death penalty shows that the state values life. If you willingly and premeditatively take the life of another person, and are convicted, then you pay with your own. Life is valuable, and there must be a price for destroying it.

angeltree --- 13 years ago -

I have to comment....lol...,,probably shouldn't but find it confusing that so many people value the life of a murderer more than the life of an innocent unborn child.....not saying on this thread....just in the world generally....it confuses me....if your for life, it should be all life! IMO

OH SNAP --- 13 years ago -

I'm all for doing away with lethal injection...and replacing it with ye olde firing squad (made up of the victim's loved ones).

JohnLynch --- 13 years ago -

Where is your literal reading of the Bible now?

i gave you the LITERAL reading of the Bible...don't murder

Koka --- 13 years ago -

life without parole. it's cheaper to keep them plus it is more moral.

Morals are subjective.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I've had two friends brutally murdered just right down the road from me over one of my friends mother's car. The trigger man was executed by lethal injection and it was a JOYFUL moment.

TexasOma --- 13 years ago -

huntsville is set to execute 4 humans in 8 days. disgusting and AGAINST THE LAW.

Good!!!

Not against the law at all!!!

LiveFreeOrDie --- 13 years ago -

Sailor Tattoos --- 13 years ago -

Killing is against the law? I'm pretty sure in the state of Texas if someone is threatening my life I have every right to defend myself....ie BOOM HEAD SHOT!

Nightshade --- 13 years ago -

Murder is against the law. You need to change your subject line.

LiveFreeOrDie --- 13 years ago -

Murder is against the law. You need to change your subject line.

To VOR it's one in the same..

Donkey Hodie --- 13 years ago -

i gave you the LITERAL reading of the Bible...don't murder

The KJV says otherwise.

Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

Deuteronomy 5:17: Thou shalt not kill.

Matthew 5:21: Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment.

Romans 13:9: For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

SleightOfHand --- 13 years ago -

if i can't kill and you can't kill, the goverments can't kill either!!!!!
__________
Sure they can. It is codified stating if you do A and B you're dead! The law is pretty clear and it says the government can do it. Just like the turd who was made extinct tonight. He dragged a man, 3 miles, till he was dead. The turd was not remorseful and in fact, told people that if he was released, he would do it again. TOODLES!

SleightOfHand --- 13 years ago -

if i can't kill and you can't kill, the goverments can't kill either!!!!!
__________
BTW, I CAN kill too. Try breaking into my house, their face will quickly resemble Kurt Cobain's

JohnLynch --- 13 years ago -

The KJV says otherwise.

the word in the ORIGINAL Hebrew scripture passage is the Hebrew "ratsach" which means "to murder, slay"...murder is killing...but it is premeditated killing

Donkey Hodie --- 13 years ago -

I thought you prefer the KJV? No?
