I had gone to Walgreens to pick up my meds and at the back of Walgreens their is 3 black cats. It looked like the mommy the daddy and 1 baby (about 4 or 5 months old). So I go back in to Walgreens and get water and food for them. They ate like they had not had food in 3 days.So tomorrow I am going back to feed them again.I will keep this up as long as I can.

NICKLE PICKLE --- 12 years ago -

OMG, I have been feeding those cats for a few weeks now. Momma & daddy were hanging out @ the Chevron across street. She had 2 kittens, black & gray that she kept @ Walgreen's. I was leaving food in both areas. I haven't seen the gray kitty in over a week n ow, it was pretty feral, however the little black kitty is so cute, comes right up to my car to greet me every night. I didn't see him tonight when I went by there, momma was there, didn't see daddy either. Too funny, well they can sure use all the food they can get. I normally leave 1 cup of dry food & 2 cans of wet & some fresh water. We should coordinate days and take turns feeding them.

Dotti --- 12 years ago -

I think I have a big bag of cat food if you guys want it.
My cats are on a prescription food now so they can't have it.
Let me know.

~bigla~ --- 12 years ago -

I have an unopened bag of Purina Cat Food you are welcome to...

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

Great can we meet so that I can get the food to feed them. They are so so cute. Their was a white and black one in the road about a week ago that did not make it.I have not seen the black and gray one but did see the black one.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

Hey NICKLE PICKLE I will feed them again today and if you can feed them tomorrow that would be great. And we can keep in touch about feeding them. On the 19 of this month I have to go out of town if you can feed them that weekend then I can feed them that next Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.

Its Mygirl01 --- 12 years ago -

I also have half a bag of blue buffalo kitten food (from when the food was changed) they can have that too if you guys want.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

That would be great. How can we get it from you? I can meet you some where but it will have to be before 2.00ppm today or after 4:00 today. I am going to pm you my phone number.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

I have a paypal if any one would like to do that to buy the cats food..

Perfection --- 12 years ago -

You should have enough food now for a while right with all that's being donated?

Bubbles --- 12 years ago -

As a cat lover, I just want to say THANK YOU to all of you for helping these poor kitties out. :)

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

Yes Perfection I should have enough now that I myself have gone out and paid for more. But thank you for you advice.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

Thank you Bubbles I am going to do my best to take care of them.I also went to a pet store and got some worm meds to go in to their food so when I go to feed them today I can set there and watch them eat it.

Tylers Journey --- 12 years ago -

I have a momma and 2 kitten I have been feeding outback that I am going to be finding homes for.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

I will ask around to see if any one would like to have them. The one that I am feeding right now I am going to try and get close to and maybe I can bring them home with me.I hope that you find homes for them............AND I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE ONE THAT HHAS HELPED WITH THE FOOD FOR THESE FUR BABIES.

Its Mygirl01 --- 12 years ago -

I hope you can get close enough to catch them! It was nice to meet you, thank you for helping them!

Dotti --- 12 years ago -

It was nice meeting you blue. Hopefully they will come to you soon.

Did you have enough water?

Let me know if you need more food.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

Thank you both so so much.I know that the cats have enjoyed it.I think that the female was the first to come out to eat. She is fat I just hope that it does not mean that their will be more kitties coming soon. The baby looks like it is about 6 months so she could be.The male was the last to come out he was trying to fight with the young one.So it maybe a male too.I got their little stomach full for tonight.I will keep everyone posted about them.

Meme2my5 --- 12 years ago -

That is so nice of you BH. Thanks for helping them.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

You are welcome.I seen them there yesterday and I had to feed them.Things are hard right now but it is harder for them. At one time someone owned them or their mommy and daddy. It just makes me so mad that people get dogs and cats then after the new wears off they just put them out side. Its like take care of your self.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

Thanks everyone.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

I have not been on here in a few days. But I am still feeding the cats at Walgreens every day. They are doing well but I have not seen the mom cat in 2 days. The last time I seen her she was fat like more fur babies, I am keeping my fingers crossed that she has not.I just hope that she has not got hurt or something else has happened.Monday when I was feeding them their was 2 small kitties and it looked like the daddy. He keep hissing at the 2 smaller ones.I have to go out of town Friday but Nickle Pickle is going to feed them.

NICKLE PICKLE --- 12 years ago -

I feed them every night. I see mom every night. Daddy cat was there the other night with kitty, they both ate like pigs. The kitty is starting to warm up to me, he/she will come very close, but if I try to pet it, it runs. Hopefully I can trap them soon and get them fixed. Don't need anymore babies.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

That would be great but what are you going to do after you get them fixed.

Blueherron, typically for feral cats you do a TNR (Trap, Neuter [spay], Release).

Most feral cats do not become "tame", although it is possible, but takes a LOT of work, and someone who knows about the psyche of a cat, and can dedicate time to the feral/tame process.

Once the rescue person does a TNR, they just continue to feed them until nature takes its course. Some ferals live fairly long lives, considering they are exposed to the elements, diseases, and (sometimes) cruel people, but it is the best anyone can do for them. Typically once they have been TNRed, they lose the "want" to fight so they stop developing injuries from cat fights for the most part, although they do still occur from time to time.

I fed a feral kitten that lived behind our garage. i would entice him with canned shrimp and when he was eating, i would slowly stroke his back. it took two years before he allowed me to pet him and approach him without scurrying away.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

Ok great I hope we can get the TNR done. I would hate to see more Fur Babies out there to get ran over and not have a family to love them..

ExLady In Blue --- 12 years ago -

Blueherron, TNR means they will go back out into the "wild", usually to the same place from where they came. Sometimes, you can find a "safer" place to release them, but generally speaking, that is hard to do, because that would mean they are being released into a strange environment and it can cause problems by causing them to separate from their litter mates and momma/daddy. Most times, it is just safer to release them where they were, initially.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

Ok that sounds great if someone can do that for them that would be great also. And then I can still feed them and watch them grow.My mother said that I love animals to much. When I was 15 I had 18 dogs and everyone one of them were rescues.I had a job baby setting to pay for their food.

Chuy's update, only see one kitten behind the restaurant now. It is the scared white with gray ears, female I believe. She has now the size of a small kitten, the body is just starting to stretch, still can fit in one hand. Sadly I did not see the brave little Orange and White boy kitten that would sit on the curb in front of the bushes, looking for his momma but only seeing headlights. I hope he went quickly and without pain. The little white and gray girl now sits in the exact same spot, she too watches the cars driving by and runs into the bushes when a horn sounds. I hope she gets big enough to leave the safety of the bushes, but surrounded by freeway and parking lots her odds of survival are very low. These are domestic cats dropped at this location, there is nothing feral on these babies.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

Can you pick up the baby?

Job 40 4 --- 12 years ago -

I honked at it, it was on the curb and ran into the big bushes at Chuy's, the back side that faces Petsmart. The restaurant was full so there was no way I could root around their windows without going to jail. She is terrified of vehicles yet surrounded by them. Hope she did not see her brothers and sisters killed under the wheels of trucks.

NICKLE PICKLE --- 12 years ago -

There are feral cats everywhere in our area. I saw a teeny tiny one at the Shell station on KW Dr. a few nights ago. I was sitting at the light and saw this little thing hopping around, I thought it was a bird, so I pulled over to check it out. It was a solid black, probably 4 week old kitten. I tried to catch it, but it was scared and kept growling & hissing at me. It would not let me touch it.

However, the Walgreen kitty let me touch her nose tonight, lol. She was there with Mom & Dad. Hopefully in the next few weeks, I can grab her.

wordman777 --- 12 years ago -

i'm a volunteer at MCAS. if there is one that is adoptable..let me know via PM.

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

As of right now we can not even pick them up.In time maybe we will be able too.

NICKLE PICKLE --- 12 years ago -

Momma cat is preggo. Her belly is getting bigger, so I am sure it is new kitties and not a fat belly from all the good food she has been getting.

She is feral and very guarded. Her little one (black kitty) from her last litter is a stinker. She is so excited to see me, however, she will not let me pet her. I was able to touch her a couple of times a few nights ago, but she's just not sure what to think, lol.

Tonight when I was pulling out of the parking garage at Terminal C, there was another black cat hanging out. She has only half a tail. I carry can food with me so I stopped and opened a can and left it for her.

Breaks my heart, all these homeless animals.

I need to see if I can trap the Walgreen's kitties and get them spayed/neutered. I am sure she keeps having kittens, and only one or so survive. There aren't too many cats in this area, and her gray kitten disappeared, so I would really like to trap her!!

blueherron4 --- 12 years ago -

Her gray kitten was ran over about a month are longer. And it is so true about the little black kitten it will come so close but will not let you touch it.Their also is a kitten that is just a little bigger then the baby but you don't see it all the time. I don't know if NICKLE PICKLE has seen it or not.One morning when my mother and I went to feed them it was there with the baby and the daddy. The daddy and the baby will fight some times over the food.I still have a little food lefted and will buy some on Thursday. It is so much fun to call them when I get there to feed them they come running out and then set there till I get them their food and fresh water.Thank you so much NICKLE PICKLE for helping with the fur babies.I have not seen the female cat in about 3 days.I am glad that you have.
