FabFive --- 12 years ago -

Thanks :)

And I bet the entire department now refuses to eat there and when they call for the police, the call conveniently is put on an indefinant hold.

SleightOfHand --- 12 years ago -

BTW Buffalo Wild Wings can kiss my butt if they think I will disarm myself.

AngieKaye --- 12 years ago -

Guess when they are robbed and all their patrons held hostage they will wish they would of allowed that officer there to protect them.

SleightOfHand --- 12 years ago -

Yep

FabFive --- 12 years ago -

Funny how the manager went to apologize and couldn't find any of the officers.

FabFive --- 12 years ago -

So now I can cross BWW off my list, too. Luckily we don't eat out much.

They were in plain clothes.

This is a private business that reserves the right to refuse service. Nothing more to see here.

Where did anyone say the business didn't have the right to refuse service? I'm just pointing out that they are shooting themselves in the foot by their gross over reaction.

Looks like management wasn't made aware of it until later, and have since released this statement..

Scott Lupton, the general manager of the Manassas Buffalo Wild Wings location, sent an email to LaClair, apologizing for any confusion caused by the incident, which he calls a “huge misunderstanding.”

Patch obtained a copy of the letter and confirmed its validity with Lupton on Monday

Lupton said he wasn’t there on Wednesday, but should have been notified immediately. He learned of the incident on Thursday after returning to work.

“… There is no reason why those officers should have been asked to leave … police officers are always welcome in my establishment and even though we do have a no gun policy, as a company that excludes off duty police officer,” Lupton wrote. “As a company we are community oriented. We appreciate everything that police officers do for us.”

Last week he tried to reach out to the officers to apologize, but had not been successful. Lupton said he would reach out to the police department and personally apologize.

“For this to have happened at all is just absurd,” LaClair wrote Friday in an email to Patch.

Lupton said he went down to the Prince William County Police Department with an apology letter, but wasn't able to personally contact the police officers who visited his store.

Except that police officers were never included in their policy. It was a jack wad move by whomever did it.

Of course they have the right to refuse service. I also have the right to take my business elsewhere because a business will not serve our nation's heroes. I know for sure plenty of people are going to exercise their right to eat elsewhere.

What idiot would think COPS shouldn't be carrying a gun? Wow. How does he/she expect them to PROTECT and serve if they don't have any means to protect?

It makes no difference the cops were in plain clothes. Cops are cops, at all hours of the day and they were actually on duty.

sounds to me like the manager is trying to save face. He realized how much the community back their officers. I personally feel alot safer knowing an establishment allowed CHL holders to carry and anyone else of the law to carry. Knowing they are there criminals are less to hit.

Work in Progress --- 12 years ago -

They probably have a no gun policy to protect themselves from lawsuits. Which figuratively shot themselves in the foot in this situation.

While I think the restaurant was ridiculous, it's not fair what you are suggesting. They are taxpayer paid to take care of all of us equally.

Do you think the officers would be willing to respond to an incident there without bringing in their guns? I doubt it.
