I was looking online and see a lot of cars nowadays with the CVT (continuously variable transmission). I do not want that. Complicated and expensive to fix, I hear horror stories of it failing on people. Give me a regular 4- or 5-speed automatic any day. Sadly, this may be the future of new cars eventually.

Anyway, what would you pick if you were in the market for a new car/truck/SUV?

Winning --- 12 years ago -

I'm itching for a new Cadillac CTS V.

Nice. Cruisin' the hood in that thing will be sweet.

Aah Grasshoppa --- 12 years ago -

Ford F150. Versatile, reliable, and really good rides. Can't go wrong. Get an upgraded stereo package.

Warren Peace --- 12 years ago -

Japanese SUV. Jap for the reliability, SUV for the safety and flexibility to move people and stuff.

Nothing but a Honda in my garage.

idontplaynice --- 12 years ago -

I would never have guessed you'd go for something like that Sighfi.

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 12 years ago -

I'm thinking Toyota 4Runner, hubby wants me to get the Mercedes GL550. What to do??

Go for a BMW X5. Love those!

JAMS --- 12 years ago -

Suburban.

Will easily tow a BP horse trailer, big enough for kids and dogs, and nice heated seats.

What would you have guessed? That's my idea of a purely FUN car...And I have a led foot in a car like that, low and fast....the need for speed!!!!

It's why I drive something a lot more practical..lol.

ItzaCrapShoot --- 12 years ago -

Our new Accord EX-L is awesome. Cheaper than its Nissan and Toyota counterparts and has tons more cool features.

~grandma again~ --- 12 years ago -

i just bought a new ford explorer and am absolutely enjoying the heck out of it! that makes my last 3 cars ford explorers. so far i just have not found anything with a better ride that can handle my life style at the time.

my dream car has always been a '68 mustang..candy apple red with black striping.

The speed part I guessed, but something a little more sleeper/refined - like a BMW M-series

I like those too, especially the lil Mercedes sports car!

We have a bmw now and I cannot stand having to go to that dealership. They have no sense of urgency and no loner program to speak up. Every time I have to go for something simple like maintenance I want to slap someone within 15 minutes. LOL

Warren Peace --- 12 years ago -

Well as long as we're putting practical on the backburner, I'm a fan of this elegant beast

We didn't have the best service experiences at that dealership either. lol. I loved that car though. I'll definitely own another one once the kids are gone.

sheddy --- 12 years ago -

I have an X5, love the car, hate the dealership. We use BMW of The Woodlands. My husband has an Expedition and absolutely loves it. It is ridiculous for him to drive it, but he says he never wants anything else.

I have a mercedes and use the dealership right next door too BMW. LOVED my service guy there, he is no longer there and the service has gone downhill. Time to move on. That said their service is still better than BMW though.

There have been several times that my car was in the shop for minor crap and I would have to take my husbands car in too. I would drive the hubs car over walk out the front door duck under the bushes and be in the other dealers lot to pick up my car. lol That was nice.

Winning --- 12 years ago -

I did like testing out all of the loaner cars when I took mine in for service though. Every time I got something fun to drive.

How many does the BMW X5 seat?

5...or 7 with the optional 3rd row seat. I don't see how you could squeeze 7 in there comfortably though.

Dorothy Parker --- 12 years ago -

That's what I was thinking...it looks too small for a third row seat.

Does anyone have any experience with the Volvo cx90?

Nissan Juke

Neighbor had one and the repairs are very pricey...even the oil changes. It's a nice car though but she ended up trading it in since it was no longer under warranty.

FabFive --- 12 years ago -

Another dually.

PreciousMoments --- 12 years ago -

I just traded in my h2 hummer sut. I loved that thing and felt very safe but yup you guessed it gas mileage was terrible.

I now have a Lexus is250. Gas mileage Is awesome. It just took me some time to get used to a car again. I felt a little clostrerphobic

If we're talking realistic...I would go back to owning a Toyota Matrix. I actually owned the Pontiac Vibe and loved it but it had 1 issue that wouldn't fail the same way in a Matrix and if for some reason it did, it would be cheaper to fix. Almost everything under the hood of my Vibe was Toyota except for the A/C, which is the part that failed. I had 2 repair guys tell me it was going to cost like $3500 to fix and the main reason it was so expensive is because it was toyota parts in a pontiac set up and it was harder to get to/work on it behind the dash.

Other than that, it was a wonderful car. I would get a Matrix in a heartbeat. I currently drive a Nissan Cube. It's ok and the style fits my personality but this car is made super cheap and you can totally tell. Plus my MPG sucks. I went from getting almost 40 in the Vibe to 23 on average in the Cube and both were/are sticks.

flatlander --- 12 years ago -

I have had a Lincoln navigator for almost 5 years. I love my vehicle. Only time it was in the shop was when the lift gate needed to be fixed. Its big and guzzles gas but I feel very safe driving on Houston roads with it.

It is I WhyWhyWhy --- 12 years ago -

I've seen about every vehicle with a third row seat within reason. I'm looking too. I don't want a bus but I do want a third row for occasional use. DP have you looked at the new explorers or GMC Acadia?

tredanis --- 12 years ago -

My two younguns will be getting licenses soon, having just completed driver's training at Safeway.

I am looking to purchase two tank-like automobiles with a device that turns off cell phones if the car is in motion and a dash mounted video camera so I can spy on them and monitor their driving habits live on my computer. Of course, if they were driving like a jack***, I couldn't call them to tell them to stop because their phone wouldn't work. Therefore, I want something that will allow me to take control of the wheel and controls from my remote location so I can steer them to safety. I was pretty good at playing Mario Kart on the Nintendo so this shouldn't be a problem.

I also want one of those ignition devices that you have to blow into and if it detects alcohol, the car won't start.

Anyone know where I can find this Tank?

In AbsentiaW --- 12 years ago -

Without a doubt I would like a Rolls Canardly. Great mileage....
It rolls down one hill and can hardly make it up another.

Added extras?
Two heat seeking missles under the front grill and those axels that would extend and have blades like the Roman chariots.
Just turn me loose on KWD or North Park
