Gotta love emergency alerts

Just in case you want more Obama in your life…
AT&T is loading iPhones with emergency alerts from Barack Obama…
That you can’t switch off.

MAzz --- 12 years ago -

Can you read? You can switch it to off. Every Iphone on every carrier has this setting. AT&T was the last one to get this update.

Perfection --- 12 years ago -

Once installed, AMBER and Emergency alerts are automatically sent to your phone unless you switch them off via Settings. However, should you be tired of Obama, just know that there’s no way to switch off Presidential alerts.

mom2dx --- 12 years ago -

Would it be okay with you if they were alerts from any other President? Or is this strictly an Obama thing?

Regardless, I have a Kyocera dumb phone from Sprint and it has a setting for Presidential alerts. It's not specific to the Galaxy phones or AT&T.

No, I would find this just as wrong from all politicians. They have no right to force messages upon us.

Gotcha. Was just wondering. I feel the same way.

ALL SMART PHONES NOW HAVE THE FEATURE, IPHONE WAS ONE OF THE LAST TO GET IT

whatchamacallit --- 12 years ago -

So, I have an Epic and do not have this going on. Is it an app that you have to install?

SleightOfHand --- 12 years ago -

It's probably on your phone. You will get amber alerts and such

needsleep --- 12 years ago -

...all the other carriers will follow suit. All those free phones T-mobile rolled out last year..new sd cards...

Celebrity --- 12 years ago -

This is only if you do the new update 6.1 though, right?

Jpgirl --- 12 years ago -

I didn't do the update- it was automatic. I turned on my phone last week and a notice popped up that it had been installed. Sleightofhand is right- IPhones were the Last to get it, so most of you already have it. Not sure about other phones but with the iPhone you can go into settings, then notifications and turn them off.

"go into settings, then notifications and turn them off. "

Except Pee Bo

Hmmm... Mine didn't do it automatically. I see the notification there is an update, but I have to manually do it. Thank goodness! I always have problems with my contacts after updates.

In that case, I want 2 iPhones.
