If you love your furbabies please don't take them here. In the past few months they have let dogs escape and get on 1960.This has happened more then once, dogs have also died while in their kennels due to not being taken care of. The AC's are never really working that great and are keep on about 80 during the day. If your dog has any kind of medicinie it might get it it might not. Mine was not given her meds and got really sick and almost died. The owner is very uncaring when it comes to your baby,The onsite staff is not doing her job at all(because she is to busy setting in her little house smoking weed all night) just today they had a dog die,one get out (because a gate was left open)and he made it all the way to the middle of 1960 and they had one that wasn't being watched around the pool and she slipped and busted her whole chin wide open.Your dog also doesn't get the food feed to them like you ask or most of the time doesn't even get treats if they have them.Every person that works there with the exception of two are either on drugs or they are alcoholics. So please think before leaving your babies here. And
OMG the rats and roaches are horrible

Wow, those are some very serious accusations that you better be able to back up, IMO.

How would you know someone is sitting in their home smoking weed at night??

OMG! I am a cat person, but I have a friend that uses these guys, and she loves them. I am guessing you had a very bad experience...share the details. That is more convincing.

This would NOT be my choice, then again, I am a pet sitter, and will only use a pet sitter! In my home.
I haven't ever really heard good things about this place-however the op sounds like she has an ax to grind with someone:(.
This is an awful lot of negativity for one post!

WTH3 --- 11 years ago -

I'm unfamiliar with that establishment, however I did leave Dogs Day Inn on NPk. But strictly for rudeness and poor service. I personally don't board my pets but used them for bathing and grooming. My retired mom offers home/ pet sitting so your furbaby can remain in their environment.

After 10-15 years of grooming my pups at DDInn/Northpark, I will never return. I can't imagine leaving my babies there over night for boarding! They have little regard for your dog and can be very rude at times. Our last conversation went like this:
Me: Please be sure to groom my dog's feet really well. He is old and has trouble getting up on the tile since the hair between his toes make him slip. And please be careful of his eyes as he is blind and can't see you.

Groomer: Oh, He and I are great friends. I know he is blind. He knows my voice.

Me: He's been deaf for 5 years.

Upon return:

DDI: You other dog got nippy so the groomer couldn't complete her job.

Me: Your groomer should have muzzled him.

DDI: She did but I guess he wasn't used it.

Me: Oh, he used it alright. You have been grooming him since he was a puppy. His previous owner brought him here which is why we switched both dogs to you to keep him comfortable. He's been wearing a muzzle for grooming for 13 years.

Dead silence.

btw, my elder dog's feet were not groomed at all! The hair on his feet were left choppy and there was long hair between his toes. It was as if she got interrupted, forgot where she left off and didn't finish. He was too frail to return him. I didn't want to put him through his last grooming twice. I groomed him myself. And then bathed him since there were too many loose hairs on him, as well. Go somewhere else to groom your dog. Most places have 2 week waiting period. It's worth the wait.

We used DD Inn on Northpark once...they were awful. Went to Dogs Day Out on Ramblewood for a LONG time, they did great until the last time and they were so rude we decided not to return.

doglady --- 11 years ago -

Grooming salons have a wait for a reason! Mine don't require grooming, but did go to Furbabies, and did "bathe them yourself". The groomer there, Allison, is wonderful! Pet Ranch has a great groomer as well, but is booked for months at a time I think.
Edit to add...it won't be long, I don't imagine, until there will be a long wait at Furbabies...Allison is that good! She is a very kind person!

Mayberry --- 11 years ago -

How does bathe them yourself work?

WTH3 --- 11 years ago -

We have switched to Dog Gone Stylin on 494. They have been great.

Hmm seems like you have personal resentments or something with them.. how do you know some one whos working there smokes weed in there house ? Were you stalking them ? Peeping in the window lmao...

I have always taken my yorkies to them and have never had a problem. They are on medications, twice daily..if not taken they would die.. i have boarded with them over 10 times.

It seems like you lost your job there or hate your job if u do work there and are trying to vent about it...

Just my opinion though

ItzaCrapShoot --- 11 years ago -

Its a drive but since we boarded with Pet Paradise on JFK over the July 4th holiday and had our dog groomed during the stay, we'll be using them from now on. They did a great job grooming and clipping the nails of our dog who hates that. We like them.

Okay,I'm not here to bash anybody, just thought some people would like to know what is happening at DDO. I am an animal person who cares about each and every one of them. And you are right I did work here a while back, and no I'm not an angry ex-employee,becasue I love the job I now have and I'm grateful for my time at DDO. I am just concerned for peoples furbabies, dogs getting out and or dying,or getting hurt is not normal for a boarding and grooming place. The owner needs to take a look at her employees and relize that almost everyone of them is on some kind of drug. They tend to lie about a lot of things that go on here. Just today the owner called the pound to come and pick up a customers 2 dogs just because one of them nipped a a worker, mind you that worker was messed up on meth. And I know all of this because that some worker tends to run her mouth to other people. If this post offends anyone then so be it, I'm just putting it out there like it is so people will know what is happening,I feel horrible everytime I hear about one of these furbabies being injured or dying

ItzaCrapShoot --- 11 years ago -

Oh man.....I think the fireworks are about to start going off. You have called out folks that are likely dangerous if what you say is true.

I'd probably be looking to relocate about right now if I were you. Good luck!

Ok really - you got proof?

bren4rmoh --- 11 years ago -

Okay... I dont know if ppl know this but the owner of dogs day out is the mother to the owners of dog day inn....just a fyi....I personalty worked there myself years back and i swear most of the issues stated are true as far as dog day out goes. THe sons/owner of dog day inn have not be on speaking terms in years(a whole new topic) DDO wants your money!!!! She will take any animal in any condition. But if your pet needs medication to the point that their life depends on it, then they need to be boarded with the vet. NO one at DDO is a vet or vet tec..no one...I have personal seen her take in so many dogs that she start putting them in the bathroom/drier room/her office/groom cages etc
....Remember the airport search dogs that rented space in the back...well she lost that contract for MULTIPLE/PROBLEMS/ deaths.....
Ready for the best part...I have herd that she bought Atascocita Board And Groom that sit in front of the Oaks on 1960 just a FYI

I'm not a regular customer but that is not true. I've had them turn me down b/c they were full.

listen up folks every kennel throughout the united states have problems. dogs die in every kennel due to different things such as old age , heart failure, cancer so quit judging their ability to take care of your pet if you have doubts tour the place ask questions talk to a client that might be there. i use to work there for sixteen months and i loved my job my.reason for leaving was due to a manager and a ddisagreement with the owner. ive been in thw gro world for 26 years and ive seen alot of things but they were from natural caues or just pure accident. i have been blamed for these post and i assure you im not the one . i will post my real name if i have something to say i will not hide. so listen if you want but do your homework and tour if they have something to hide they will not let you tour.

I used to work for Dogs Day Out (when it was still "Dogs Day Out", not "Inn" like it is now) here in Kingwood, and I would stay far, FAR away from those people if I were you. I have so many stories about that place, scary stories. A dog almost died on my shift once, but I was thankfully able to resuscitate him...long story short: Sunday am shift (DDO used to be closed on Sundays, but we'd still have to come in to feed/walk the dogs and clean out their kennels), one of the groomers left a choke collar on a sheltie because he was suppose to go home the following day (Sun.). When my shift started, I walked back to the back of the kennels to grab the mop bucket, saw the sheltie there bouncing up and down in his cage to say "Hi! Yay!! You're here to let me out to peeeee!", by the time I got the mop bucket filled up with water at the front of the building and wheeled back to the kennels (prob. about 5 or 6 mins), I came back to see this sweet sheltie dog hanging lifeless in his run - his choke collar had gotten hung up in the chain link gate door as he was excitedly jumping up and down when he saw me walk by. Ugh!! There were signs all over the back kennels that said NEVER put a dog into the run with a choke collar, or ANY collar on, but this groomer thought she was being all smart by leaving it on since he was suppose to go home the next day. Later that day when I came back for pm shift, the main front desk manager was there, and I asked her were we going to tell the dog's owner what had happened, and she said "NO!!" Since he had "made it" and appeared fine, there was "no reason to tell the owner" :(
Sorry, I said it would be short, then ended up telling the whole incident anyway :\ That was the worst thing that ever happened while I worked there, but there many things that went on in that place that made me scared for the dogs that came through there.
Another *quick* thing that happened was, they would double book during the busiest times, like holidays. I think runs were something like 17 feet long, separated by a mid-torso height gate in the middle. They would often times put a dog from one family on one end, and another family's dog in the other end, even though BOTH families were paying for their dog to have the full 17 foot run to themselves (and that was just for the regular runs). In the "Deluxe Suites" they'd overbook too, if they knew the owner wouldn't likely check in on their dog(s) via internet access, or if they could just lie and say it was "down" for whatever reason. One such family had booked a "Deluxe Suite" for their 2 dogs, a Yorkie and a Sheltie puppy. These 2 dogs were put in the BATHROOM!!!!!!!!! The family was paying EXTRA money for a Deluxe Suite, which meant an extra play time, internet access so they could check in on the dogs whenever they wanted, and a TV in their suite. Sorry, these dogs didn't even get a cot to sleep on!! They were there for, I want to say a week, if I remember correctly. The entire time in the bathroom :(
All of this happened the summer of 2004, so I'm sure things have changed since then - I know they have remodeled and added extra runs in the back yard, hopefully they are not still double booking to make lots of $$ at the dogs' expense, anymore.
Sorry to have typed so much. I really did intend this to be short. I could probably fill up an entire notebook of things that happened in the 3 or so months I was there. I was "let go" shortly after the incident with the sheltie happened. According to Lisa, one of the front counter managers, all kennel staff was being let go because it was the end of summer. Hmmmm, makes ya wonder, though.
