Does anyone else have problem getting a wifi signal in your home on your i device. We live in a two story home and if I'm upstairs I lose all Internet service. The same goes for some of the other rooms around the house. We almost have to be in the same room as the modem. We thought it was a modem problem but I'm beginning to wonder.

We have a 4000 sq ft home and our laptops can pick up wifi anywhere in the house but not so much an iPad.

Ours all work great anywhere in the house and even outside. I do have a pricey router. I don't think that makes a difference though.

I had an iPad 1 until a year ago. Never had an issue picking up wifi in a 3400 sq ft home

Get a range extender and raise the router uo high and NOT in an enclosure or cabinet.

My wifi access point is centrally located and 50 feet from the router.

We have gone around and around with century link. They say we need a booster for the middle of the house. The house is a bit over 3000 sq ft and they sent us a new router two days ago but still the same issues. Our lap tops work fine but slow.

I AM JEALOUS. WHAT ROUTER AND WHO S YOUR SERVICE THROUGH.

Get a real-deal access point and set it up as a repeater or WDS.

Too much hassle? Look for my booth at "This is Kingwood" on 7 September (blue canopy, blue "PC Supreme" banner, lots of gadgets on display) and ask about TP-Link's new repeater that is just coming available.

It's amazingly easy as long as your router supports WPS, and many do these days. Just plug in the repeater somewhere central in the house (it's about the size of a Glade Plug-in), press the WPS buttons on it and the router within a few seconds of each other (30-60 I think), and that's it, instantly wide coverage with no other configuration required. The regional TP-Link rep gave me a healthy stack of brochures.

I don't have any problems with my ipad in the house .. Sometimes at the gym though.

I have a Linkysys router and added a range extender. The range extender helped all of my wireless devices. I get strong signals throughout my 2 story house, as well as outside

never had a problem

We have a d-link router and do not seem to have a problem

There are a lot of things that can affect performance. Unless one of them is a lemon, any ipad will perform fine with nearly all routers sold in the last 5-10 years, all other things being equal.

All other things are not equal, though. You have to consider the size of the house, where the router is located, the architecture, proximity/quantity of florescent lights, magnetic transformers and other sources of EMI, and how many other wireless devices are operating in the same frequency band (usually 2.4GHz, but sometimes 5GHz).

The "perfect storm" of these conditions can cause a $300 router to perform like a $30 POS or create seemingly random and bizarre patterns of deadzones and strong hot spots throughout a house.

Try to consider all of these things when placing your router or the other equipment listed above, or consult professional help.

When there is no practical way around it or if you just REALLY like how everything is except the signal, repeaters/range extenders are a perfect low-cost remedy.
