Anyone else get this?

ghostpost --- 6 years ago -

You didn't get any kind of warning? What is your limit?

RedMulch --- 6 years ago -

oh now that would just push me right over the edge with that outfit....

ProudNana --- 6 years ago -

I would go into their office NOT HAPPY! Their rates are high enough!

Not Snake Plissken --- 6 years ago -

Yep... on the phone with Centurylink right now.

No warning. I pay for the 50 MB service. I specifically asked about a cap and was told 50 MB does not have a cap.

The Suddenlink rep on the phone today said my cap was 350 GB. Again, news to me.

To make matters worse, the Suddenlink rep on the phone was so flippant about it.

WatchOut --- 6 years ago -

Screw them.

Free is always best. You can go inside or sit in your car at Mickey D's parking lot & get connected in seconds & there are nice booths inside B.K. with a wide screen tv, Starbuck's, 5 A. M. till 10 P.M. inside or out, La Madeliene inside & outside, after hours is nice & with an outlet, same as New York Pizza. Be careful at night though, Evan Carroll was using the pizza place's Wifi at around 11 P.M. & was robbed. 2 guys with a handgun took his wallet, phone and computer. Does anyone know how he's doing?
We now have to deal with crime on a daily basis & be prepared for it constantly. So different from when we moved here in 88'.

The Master --- 6 years ago -

I din't know they were charging for overages.

I thought they were just throttling speed.

SagaciousSighFiGurl (Mod) --- 6 years ago -

They have different tiers of service now. You get a certain usage amount free, then if you go over that amount there are fees that start to kick in. It was announced quite some time ago.

And it sucks. :(. You might check in to getting a different service level. It'll be a little more per month but may be better than those kind of overages.

Gigix4 --- 6 years ago -

It was announced quite some time ago.

I got one of those notices about "overages" and decided to see how it falls out.

I have a bad habit sometimes of forgetting that I am logged onto the internet and get side tracked and my pc may be on all day long. I guess I better pay attention.
NO! I don't like it but whatcha' gonna' do?

Not Snake Plissken --- 6 years ago -

I have the highest tier service and they said there was no cap.

The Master --- 6 years ago -

This is probably obvious, but make sure to have an updated virus scanner and malware program (like malwarebytes).

Sometimes you can get a lot of data usage from a malicious piece of software.

MissPris --- 6 years ago -

Do you you tube? That'll push you over the limit fast.

I home office and use several internet services via Apple TV -- Netflix, Crackle, YouTube, pandora, iTunes match.

Still, I specifically asked about an internet cap when I signed up at their office on WLH. The lady said there was no cap for 50 MB customers.

There was never a mention of a cap on any bill until this bill. The bill has been $108, now it was $180.

Suddenlink cannot produce any document where I agreed to a cap.

Isn't the difference between 50MB and
350GB fairly tremendous?

Not Snake Plissken --- 6 years ago -

The speed is "up to" 50 Mb per second. The download cap 350 GB.

Just Aitch --- 6 years ago -

If the download speed of service is 30Mbps, or greater, the amount of data you can download at that speed a month is 350GB.

The other two options they offer 10Mbps allows 150GB and 10 to 30Mbps, allows 250GB

My router shows my activity for the past two days to be about 5.5 GB each day (combined upload/download). The Suddenlink internet usage graph has my usage at 13.1GB and 14.2GB on those same days.

RE: Google Fiber.

When they were looking for communities to expand to, I begged them to come here. Even filled out a petition. No dice.

Almost makes a person want to move. Oh wait.

Austin, next up.

looks like someone else is using your service too...

That was my initial thought too, but all traffic goes through this router. There's nothing between the router and the Suddenlink modem. The modem does not have it own router, wireless or otherwise.

JohnLynch --- 6 years ago -

you don't have wireless?

FANCY PANTS --- 6 years ago -

If you have wireless you have to have it password protected so that others can not use your wireless.

The Master --- 6 years ago -

If he is using wireless, the data is still flowing through the router and would still show usage levels regardless of who was using it.

That suddenlink would be reporting incorrect usage data wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Not Snake Plissken --- 6 years ago -

Bingo. But there's no chance in hell I'll find anyone at suddenlink with any real skills to validate (or admit) this. The people on the phone today could only recite their script.

The Master --- 6 years ago -

That's been my experience. Not exactly a brain trust over there.

MissPris --- 6 years ago -

Suddenlink has had that data cap for years. Whoever sold you unlimited lied to you.

FabFive --- 6 years ago -

We had Suddenlink in KW and had no idea there was a data cap. Were were also never charged an overage.

Kingwoodcableguy --- 6 years ago -

14 GB usage in one day! Wow are you running a server? It wouldn't surprise me of suddenlink was miscalculating your usage. They had to suspend their usage meter last year because of inaccurate reporting.

Not Snake Plissken --- 6 years ago -

Exactly. There is no way this is accurate. They had one day at 34 GB.

Suspended usage meter? That's some good info to have.

Inked Fatboy --- 6 years ago -

I hate sudden link

Edgar Po Wong --- 6 years ago -

Put a cap on your bandwidth, and limit how much porn you download per day.

Not Snake Plissken --- 6 years ago -

LMFAO!
